HEROES OF HYRULE
TITLE/NICKNAME: Lady Hyrule :: Witherfang
RACE: Human
AGE: 20
GENDER: Female

PERSONALITY
Beneath the Surface....
Compassionate - "Shhh, it will be okay, somehow. Hold on, okay?”
With sensitivity comes compassion; and Compassion may as well be Kura’s middle name. If someone needs a shoulder to lean on in time of need? She’s right there. Someone to help them stand strong? Not an issue, she’s got their back. Bad day and needing a bit of home cooking to cheer up? Kura’s already on it and will be there shortly. Sadness surrounding the events of her family's destruction and the lives ruined has given Kura the penchant for going above and beyond to try and “make up” for what she perceives as a failure to answer the call of duty to her people. Be it offering money, helping rebuild with her blood, sweat, and tears-- of which there are many— or devoting time to aiding others in need as a form of penance, Kura's naturally generous and open hearted spirit has remained relatively unchanged in spite of her experiences. Her words and actions for those less fortunate to those in distress of any sort reflect upon a natural inclination and urge to help, to “heal” and otherwise alleviate the malaise in others. If something can be done, she will make sure she does it as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Honest - “I never learned how to lie to people and I do not wish to start now.”
Deception is something that Kura could never pull off very well, and it's gotten even worse over time. In a world where hiding is the only way to survive and gain the upper hand on others, she remains roughly the same honest individual she's always been. She admits a little too freely that she doesn't know something or someone, and will only answer honestly even if she knows it'll hurt her in the long run. By being forthright, she believes she can be trusted and thus won't be suspected of hiding an agenda that she really doesn't have up her proverbial sleeve. Be it in matters of life or death, or even in something as mundane as an every day "have you seen x/y/z?", she will not fail to give a truthful, if gently delivered, response to best suit the situation at hand-- and hopefully spare someone the pain of hurt feelings.
Devoted - “All I have ever wanted was to stay together.”
Through thick or thin, better or worse and death-til-we-part, Kura's loyalty is first and foremost with those she is attached to... regardless of if they feel the same way. A friend who has only been around for a week is treated with the same dedicated care and concern as someone she's known for years on end. There is almost no limit to what she will tolerate or endure for the friends and family she loves so dearly, and what few times she has actually severed people out of her lives wound up devastating her, causing her to treasure those she holds dear all the more. Though her feelings remain much the same, she has had to learn how to keep herself distant from them for their own good... as detrimental an effect as it may be on those she loves-- not to mention herself.
Playful - “You don't have to give up fun to be an adult, you know.”
Though her overall energy and demeanor is quite depressed and serious as of late, Kura rather enjoys the more light hearted and childish things in life- such as going to a field and playing like she were half her age all over again. Anything from climbing a tree- especially when she knows she’s not supposed to- to having a snowball fight in winter or splashing someone in the summertime, she enjoys harmless little tricks and pranks to make people smile and forget about their troubles for a few minutes. All in all, Kura appreciates and enjoys the littler things in life that people tend to forget about once they’ve “grown up”... though she has had precious little to call 'fun' or celebrate as of late.
Lies the Perfect Storm....
Emotionally Volatile - “I know. I--- would you just shut up already?!”
Never one to master the art of concealing one's feelings and thoughts on her face, despite the many, many attempts made by a very strict upbringing, Kura feels things intensely and displays them just as much so. If she's happy, she's smiling and laughing with everything she has in her-- and can sometimes cry because of it. If she's sad, she cries openly (though not without shame or embarrassment and many, many apologies.) If she's angry, it shows in all the ways one could think of.
Her ability to maintain a relative semblance of control over her emotions, particularly in regards to anger, has been drastically reduced as the result of the series of unfortunate events unfolding that led them to leaving their home and the massive amount of responsibility that her sister has taken up. As a result, her moods can swing quite wildly from light melancholy to rage when provoked or otherwise cornered by those around her.
Conflicted -“I don't know what to do...”
Never one for having an ego, nor any real sense of self-confidence, events of the last couple years have left Kura's sense of self-worth at an all time low. She questions herself, her actions, her feelings, everything more often than ever and holds herself in an even worse regard than she truly should in many ways. She puts up as much of a front as possible, but those who grow to know her, or spend longer than an hour or two in her company can almost immediately tell right off the bat that she's trying to disguise/hide/compensate for her major flaws in several ways. Unable to think clearly or to dismiss her emotions from making a logical decision in the heat of the moment, Kura is more than prone to frantically flip-flopping between options and going back and forth until someone either makes one for her-- or takes all options away but one.
Pessimistic- “It's not okay. It's not okay and it's never going to be okay, what part of that don't you understand?”
A lifetime of being criticized, cut down, ground beneath the weight of others' opinions of her, and in the last four year's worth of unfortunate events, Kura's once sunny and optimistic demeanor has soured, turned negative and dark. She no longer believes that there's anything worth saving in regards to her own existence, and struggles to find the reason she should remain alive at all. The betrayal and rejection of those close to her left a bigger scar than she initially anticipated-- and now she finds herself intentionally looking for a way to stay way from people for good.
Stubborn - “I said no; what part of that was difficult for you to comprehend?”
Once Kura’s mind is made up- that’s it, that’s all there is to it. While she never used to be one to shout or get into loud, verbal arguments, the events of the last couple years have done much to alter her manner of dealing with others-- and she has lost a good deal of her near legendary patience and ability to wait others out. Thankfully, or perhaps unfortunately, she is most often the quiet sort of stubborn; the kind that can lead to her waiting an argument out, and then going to do the very thing she’d been told she can’t/isn’t supposed to/shouldn’t.
LIKES:
:: HER SIBLINGS - Zelda and Killian are her brother and sister, and is the only family and friend she has ever known. Because of that small fact, she is very protective of them and concerned for their well being and feelings. She tends to always be around them if not doing her own thing, and even though it may or may not annoy the two of them. She is the youngest of the royal children and tends to be seen as a pest.
:: LEARNING - Truth be told, even though academics were forced on her, she never had a problem with learning. In fact she really enjoys filling her head with new things and information about the world.
:: READING - Naturally much of a book worm, Kura loves to read and had even taken up writing in her own journal to one day possibly have it scribed into a story; one about a princess and her far off prince.
:: THE WILD - Naturally attuned to the harmony of the ground under her feet, she has a thing for trees, plants, flowers, and the smells of the earth. She thoroughly enjoys the comforting feeling of rain and can often be found lying in the grass napping under a tree. Kura also enjoys the terrain of the forests nearby, her feet now growing accustomed to the roughness of the world.
:: MUSIC - Much like her sister, Kura has a taste for music. She can also sing, but excels further in playing instruments. All kinds too! From piano's to ocarinas and even violins. Kura secretly is a little jealous of how well Zelda can sing, but lets that go due to the fact that she can play melodies instead.
:: DANCING - Something about moving around to the sound of a melody makes her feel free and Kura could spend hours spinning in the grass and feel nothing but pure happiness. Whether she is skilled or not remains to be seen, she does it out of pure desire.
DISLIKES:
:: TEA - Even though she adores flowers and nature, she hates tea and finds it nothing more than hot tea leaf juice. In her preference, she enjoys other drinks such as coffees and the juices from fruit.
:: BUGS - After spending years in an immaculate palace, bugs give her a unease that she just can't shake. The idea of them crawling over her skin is just enough to give her a cold sweat and immediately run away. This applies to all bugs except butterflies. She likes those ones, they have a gentle soul.
:: ORDERS - She absolutely hates it when people tell her what to do. Unless it's someone close to her, she will not accept being ordered around; and though she will comply if it benefits her, Kura will extravagantly express her distaste if it does not. In her mind she is adult enough to discern what she should and should not do.
:: LIES - Kura finds them unnecessary, especially if they're told for petty things such as making one's reputation seem more grand or the likes. If someone lies to her, regardless of how big or small the lie is, she will write them off on her bad side and never truly trust them again.
:: PAIN - A cliche dislike, Kura has never been accustomed to pain, even in the smallest of ways. Physically or emotionally, the thought causes her to tense up and even panic in situations
:: BULLIES - Kura can't stand the strong picking on the weak in attempts to gain some morale of friends or just to feel better about themselves. It sickens her and most times she will try to stand up for the people that cannot defend themselves, no matter what race or shape they are.
MOTIVATIONS:
:: ZELDA - Being the youngest, she had always looked up to her siblings; seeing them as role models for her own self. Even though she feels a slight jealousy that Zelda was chosen, she is happy for her sister and instead strives to support her the best that she can.
:: STRENGTH - Kura knows full well what is at stake; the world, peace, and frankly the lives of everyone in the world.. and it is all dependant on her sister and her friends. For that, Kura aims to grow strong in all mind, spirit and body to aid in the Guilds' endeavors. She knows that she lacks the will to fight on the front lines, but she holds a different kind of power.
:: RECOGNITION - Only known as Zelda's sister, Kura aims to make a name for herself, one that people will utter in praise as she walks down the street with her head held proud. How she plans on accomplishing something is unknown, she only wishes to be different than the little girl that everyone see's her as.
:: LOVE - A romantic life full of charm, some fairytale that will last forever? Sure these things are not capable as long as the world is in shambles, but a girl can dream can't she?
:: SWORDSMANSHIP - In the past few months Kura has taken a liking to working with a blade, starting from a short knife to a thin rapier. Training by herself she has become more confident in a fighting style, watching her friends and family, but she yearns for a teacher that can giver her more proper instruction.
:: THE WOLF SPIRIT - Being the host of a wolf spirit, Kura is plagued by the ability to transform into a divine beast and use this power against beings around her. So far she is in complete control of her behavior and only hopes to keep it that way. Currently the young woman yearns to discover what she can about her gift.
FEARS:
:: A CAGE - Either physical or metaphorical, she had spent a good portion of her life locked away behind a door of lies and kept away from the world. She refuses to be trapped again and the idea of being shackled scares her silly. She also fears any amount of commitment to certain individuals and only trusts her siblings.
:: FAILURE - She is 100% afraid of losing anymore. Failing to be of any use four years ago, losing what friends she had..Kura has realized that it can't be taken for granted. For her family's sake, she would do anything to protect and strives for the ability to do so.
:: BEING ALONE - Ever since she was born, Kura has been surrounded by people that love and cared for her, and after the incident four years ago, she is deathly afraid of losing what people she holds dear and spending the rest of her life alone.
:: BETRAYAL - Whether by her doing, or by someone else; Kura is afraid of being betrayed, or being forced to betray. After experiencing everything four years ago with her sister, she is afraid of going through the same thing in either a large manner or small.
:: THE DARK - For about three months the Hyrule Princess has been plagued by nightmares, seeing creatures of the darkness consume her and all she cares about. Nearly every night she is left restless by the grueling process of waking up frightened and crying. She tries to keep these nightmares to herself however, not wanting to upset anyone around her with her burden; but Kura can't help but feel it's an Omen.
:: TO KEEP HER SECRET - Her innate ability to transform at night has so far been successfully hidden from her family, at least she thinks it has, and Kura intends to keep it that way until she can fully understand why this is happening to her and the purpose behind the gift. So far she has heard stories and tales from long ago about a warrior who had the magic to turn into a beast quite similar to her own. Other than that, she has no details on the subject and instead is kept wary about her transformations.
HISTORY: Be not afraid of greatness; Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them. Destined to achieve anything and push the tides of the world, her sister Zelda was foretold the throne, raised up to properly run the kingdom after her father and ultimately continue to bring peace to Hyrule. To this, Kura couldn’t help but fall short.
As the youngest sibling, she was born just over three years after Zelda, and unfortunately that was just enough time to separate the two of them, allowing her older sister to receive the amount of attention that was never given to her. If Zelda snuck out, she was merely scolded and put back in her room; If Kura acted out in anyway she was disciplined greatly in comparison, being told to hold herself higher and obey the rules set for them as it was expected of a princess.
This happened for years, until the death of their father broke the air around them and shook their world. Because her mother died when she was just a baby, she was not impacted with the absence of a motherly figure, but with the death of her father, she experienced the range of emotions between sadness, anger, and loneliness. As the king, he had little time for his children to begin with, and Kura longed for something she now could never have. Like the rest of his children, Kura shielded herself away in her room, only emerging for the eulogy and to eat. Ultimately she grew rather sickly and had to rest in bed for months during recovery while her sister seemed to be rather lively.
Kura received word of Zelda’s actions, knowing that she would grow into the throne, and for some reason, this angered Kura and so many questions ran through her mind; It was too early, did she have little respect for father? Did she not miss him at all or think anything of his death. Did she only lust for his throne? A misconstrued conception, and a silly way for a princess to think of her own sister. Eventually, word traveled to her ears about Zelda’s vision and Kura felt anguish about how she accused her sister in her own mind. It was good that she yearned to step up against the evil that was told to plague the land even though they were all still young.
Kura continued to live in the castle like normal, the absence of her father made the world around her a bit dull and dark, but she tried her best to find happiness in even the darkest moments. She often ran around the gardens, her short dresses wrapping around her barefeet as she enjoyed the plant life that the servants so diligently kept alive for her.
At this time, she came to grow excited for a ball that Zelda throwing to introduce the Hero to the World. His name was Link and apparently he was the hope for Hyrule to prevent their world from ending up in the darkness that Zelda foretold with her earlier vision. Like every princess, Kura wanted to appear her best; she had her hair in large wavy curls around her, darkened eyelashes and a white gown that shimmered when she walked. The attendees of the ball would step up to her in respect, bowing slightly before asking for her hand to dance and Kura, had the time of her young adult life.
She ate good food, gawked at Prince Perseus and the new Hero and even envied Zelda who got to dance with him during a special song. She had not been this happy or excited since before their father died and the night had gotten even better! King Galadhion had stepped in for her late father and announced the marriage between her sister Zelda and Prince Perseus!
As the younger sister of the bride, Kura helped prep for the day, planning out things with the planners that King Galadhion had hired, and dedicated her time to make sure everything was perfect. After their marriage, Zelda would be acclaimed Queen, and Perseus would be King, and Hyrule would live in peace with the Hero at their side. It was like one of the fairy tales in her books!
At least, Kura thought that, until she watched her sister fall to the ground before her very eyes. The cup of wine that would consummate their marriage staining her red dress like blood. Kura ran to her sister's side, crying and screaming for someone to help, looking to Perseus and even Link.
Days went by, Kura sent her sister off and wished her a peaceful death. The young princess awaiting what news she could from the front lines of the army, where her brother would be garrisoning her sisters troops alongside the Hero. But what good would an army do against the darkness that crept over Hyrule. How could you fight shadows in men’s hearts?
One early evening, as Kura walked the gardens like she always did, her mind dwelled on the negative feelings in her heart as her delicate fingers ran over the old oak her fathered had carved their family initials into. This was their favorite tree, a memory of them spending what time they could together. When suddenly a pain struck her hand, fire erupting under her skin and causing her to yell out in pain, dropping to her knees and grasping at her hand hard.
Light flooded her eyes as she gazed on a golden like Aura that turned a deep shade of blue and purple before she felt her body shift, a deep voice in her ear that beckoned her. She came into a new power, one that flowed deep in her ancestry and reappeared only within her. Brought out by the shard of the Triforce that rested in her possession, she newly transformed into a divine beast, having a connection to the darkness called Twilight she was able to call upon it and use it at her will while in this form.
Not soon after, Kura found that her sister was in fact alive, returning to the capital to be crowned Queen of Hyrule. What was left of Hyrule at least. The world was in shambles and deeply out of balance. Riots broke out and people stormed the castle, ripping Zelda from the security of her bed to insult her and hurt her, Labeling her a failure. This was when Kura stepped up for her sister, coming in between the crowds that threw stones, and her sister, taking the force of it and barking at the crowd of civilians until the guards came around to shield her and Zelda until they were able to flee their home.
Feeling deep down inside pain for her sister, and held her hand and let a few tears run down her face. She knew the complicated road that Zelda had ahead and it was time to push aside her petty jealousy and stand by Zelda’s side.
During the four years of their hiding, Kura worked on harnessing more of her power, to control her transformations and even push the extent of her capabilities. She trained slowly, yearning to wield a blade and help her sister reforge the Triforce and return balance to Hyrule.
APPEARANCE
DESCRIPTION: There are some things a woman can never quite get away from, and somewhere close to the top among-st them is their body. Regardless of form, shape, or size, women over the centuries have obsessed over their physical form, going to great (and often times insane) lengths to improve their looks just that tiny bit more, hoping beyond hope that this time it will be enough, that this one final alteration will somehow make them feel as beautiful as people say they are. This frenzied desire for beauty is something Kura has done her best to avoid and, ironically, the very disinterest with what others think of her is what grants the woman the appeal so many of her sex wish to attain; that of being comfortable in one’s own skin, no matter what anyone else says or thinks.
It is this comfort-ability with herself that defines all of the mage’s actions; whether walking down the street, dancing in a tavern, or beating down a man with her bare hands, the woman always appears as if she is in control of herself, leading many to think that she has control of the world around her as well.
Though more than capable of expressing herself verbally should the need arise, much of what people notice about the princess comes from visual cues; the way she sits, the forceful (yet never forced) grace and fluidity of her stride, the ever present sense that, no matter where you are or what you are doing, she can see you, even through the back of her head.
Always looking towards the present, her gaze is often set less on the distant horizon than it is on what’s right in front of her; the people, the things, the sights, sounds, smells of her environment all filter into the woman’s mind, each sense painting a part of a larger picture than anyone could ever hope to make alone. Often mistaken for someone of high status or acclaim, the young woman’s attitude almost never reflects her misconstrued social standing, as an open, inviting smile is her default expression, though only the most observant of people will notice that this smile is rarely reflected in her eyes.
One of the key aspects of her behavior is the distance she keeps between herself and others- even when in a crowd of bustling tourists, the woman still manages to keep everyone at least an arm’s length away, engaging those around her without ever letting them draw close. This distance is mirrored in both her speech and facial expressions, as those who attempt to draw closer without her approval are met with disapproval and scorn; or worse, anger and rejection.
HEIGHT & WEIGHT: The first thing one might notice about Kura is that she is rather small- pocket sized, as one might be inclined to say at a grand height of four feet, ten inches tall when barefoot, and can get herself up to nearly five feet tall if she wears proper shoes. Her weight has remained fairly steady at one hundred and ten pounds, a number that gives her a healthy layer of “padding” to her otherwise small frame. Though she despairs about the “excess” that never quite leaves about her middle and the thighs-- mostly unnoticeable unless she's stripped naked against her will, or otherwise caught in the buff-- Kura reluctantly acknowledges that she still has what some would consider quite the attractive silhouette; curvy without being unhealthily so. In spite of being much at a loss to appropriately describe the exact shape of her body (narrow hips with an ample amount of padding to the rear, thicker thighs on her longer than average legs and a shorter, narrower torso complete with an ample bust and shoulder width), Kura figures she's somewhere between the “cello” and the “pear” in terms of overall figure and is even more self conscious about her body than before.
HAIR & EYES: Now four years after her sister's fall of reign, Kura's hair falls a little over halfway down her thighs in light brown, slightly wavy- though messy -, silver blonde layers and is parted down the center, leaving an “n” shaped expanse of her forehead exposed with a relatively even fringe covering the rest and tapering to a few finger lengths past her chin at their longest points. Most often worn tied up and out of her way in anything from a wrapped ponytail, to a braided bun, or in a thick, tight braid to maintain some semblance of control.
Her eyes, though on the larger side with long lashes, are a bright aquamarine and are defined as very pretty; with a standard, almond shape that came naturally to someone of her human heritage. Though their shape has not changed, the wary expression constantly present is almost as alarming. Opposite of her natural hair color, Kura's eyelashes and arched eyebrows are a dark color that accent the shimmering hues of her blue colored irises and naturally pink cheeks.
SCARS: Nearly flawless skin, Kura's face is a canvas covered in speckled sun spots. Her freckles just barely visible against the pale surface. The woman has few scars; some gathered in her time practicing swordplay, and another as a grim reminder of her past. The only detailed and highly visible scar she has resides underneath her right breast, protruding from ribcage. The glossy lighter pink color marking it as a clean slice from a blade rather than a jagged tear of flesh.
ATTIRE: Kura is a conservative dresser; preferring dresses and skirts whose hem falls to her knees or below, long sleeved and loose fitting blouses, , and coats to help her conceal her figure. She is almost never seen in pants, and quite definitely does not seem to own a single pair of shorts that anyone knows about. Color wise, her wardrobe consists of reddish tones like scarlet, maroon, browns from a light to a dark mahogany, and black.
At present, she has taken to wearing a set of plate mail around a baggy grey shirt and plate mail leggings to protect her while she practices sword play. Outside of battle however she dresses in simple clothing that one wouldn't expect of a princess and would pin to more of a village maiden. No matter the weather or whether she is wearing armor or not, Kura is always barefoot, preferring her connection to the earth.
VOICE DESCRIPTION:Singing Example - Her voice is fair, flirtatious, and could be described in a sense, very feminine. It lacks depth, but is not high pitched like most young females. Kura always maintains a sense of dignified formality even among those she is comfortable around and never uses conjunctions or any other form of slang terminology. Her inflection and pronunciation of words are perfect, if a bit enunciated due to her strict upbringing. In terms of pitch, she is undeniably female, as it holds a soft and, melodic quality to her voice whenever she chooses to speak in her normally gentle tone.
Kura is an emotionally strong individual and more than often her emotions are conveyed through her voice. With that being said, her voice has a wide range of volume and pitch that will change with her mood. Most of the time her voice is soft (even when she is singing) unless she is emotionally compromised or expressing clear irritation, at that time her tone will not only change pitch, but her speech becomes mulled over in a mumble.
Kura’s tone can range from that of an amused acquaintance to one of a jilted lover at a moment’s notice; though quiet when not aroused, her voice can take on a surprising enthusiasm when a topic peaks her interest, particularly when it has to do with magic or the magical world. Because of her innate distrust of authority, the woman’s temperament and speech rarely changes, regardless of where, when, or who she is speaking with.
