Years of solitude can often lead to madness for some, even just an amount that can be counted on two hands. Hollow, however, has been living in solitude with her fairy for centuries, surviving off the land that birthed her, then spited her. Thus, she has adapted to being a very quiet individual, speaking only when it benefits her. She is very reserved and wary of others, shying away from most until she warms up to them. Her view on the world is very warped, as she was alive for many of the events over her time alive, but was only marginally aware of them. She sees herself as the guardian of the woods, as well as the one to lead the souls of those lost in the woods to a peaceful rest. Some call her a monster, but she disagrees. She sees herself as a Shepard, the Lamb for those who do not get to rest in peace. To hide her Skull Kid form, she wears a mask and the fur of her kills.
Blight, on the other hand, is the more reactive of the duo. He still has the mannerism of the faeries that the Kokiri have, but the years of solitude, link to Hollow's madness, and exposure to the dark energy have twisted him as well. Where Hollow wants to protect and lead the souls to rest, he believes that the forest should be theirs and theirs alone. He sees himself as the hunter, eager for the chase. Protecting his Hollow is the priority, but he will also chase down those he feels like. Hollow has laid many of his victims to rest.
As a joint unit, both speak in the third person, as well as in the plural. Their bond has corrupted, feeding them more into each other, and as such, they feel as if they are one, but two at the same time. Both hold the playful mentality of a Kokiri, just twisted by Ganon's evil
LIKES
[attr="class","scroll"]
The forest: They were born of the forest, and it is in the forest that they will meet their end. Both hold an almost obsessive desire to keep their home safe, and will confront anybody they feel infringes on this.
Sweets: One thing Hollow has not lost from her time as a Kokiri is a love for sweets. She is easily bribed with them, and will even call down Blight from his hunt if given the chance to get them.
The Deku Tree: Though the two no longer interacted with their Kokiri brethren, they still were loved by the Deku Tree, in his many reincarnations. They see him as a father figure of sorts, and would spend days lying among his branches, talking to the great guardian of the forest.
DISLIKES
[attr="class","scroll"]
Strangers: They are very wary of those they do not know, a belief stemming from how secretive the Kokiri life was in general. Solitude has led to paranoia, however, and this distaste has amplified.
Monsters: The monsters of Hyrule are a cruel abomination of the land, and as such, are something they feel should be eliminated. As hunters and protectors, they have slain countless monsters, and always take trophies from them.
The Goddesses: Though she never really paid them much mind, when Hollow witnessed the Goddesses destroy the Triforce, the world was thrown into unbalance. Needless to say, she was not happy about this. The forest itself became unstable, and her work got harder.
MOTIVATIONS
[attr="class","scroll"]
Protect Their Home: The Kokiri Forest and Lost Woods are, as stated before, all they are. Thus, there isn't a single thing they wouldn't do to protect it.
Protect Each Other: If one were to die, the other surely would, either from the severance of their tie, or from the sheer loneliness they would feel. As such, they always have each other's backs.
Help Restore Balance: The world is in chaos, lacking a proper Hero, a Triforce, and with many conflicting factions. Having emerged from the forest to assist, Hollow and Blight seek a way to fix the natural order of things, whatever role that puts them into.
FEARS
[attr="class","scroll"]
Destruction of Their Home: Everything in the forest has a purpose. In a sense, it is a single, living organism, with every part playing a role in keeping it living. Hollow fears that disrupting this ecosystem will kill it, and as such is wary of the changes in the world doing so.
Death of the Other: Both fear loneliness, having only survived the years thanks to each other. If one were to die, the other would lose all motivation to live, without purpose in the world.
Bears: They're big, scary, and don't die when you shoot them all the time. At least the meat is tasty.
HISTORY
When the Deku Tree was born, with it was born the Kokiri. A race of fairy children, blessed with the boon of longevity, and were named the fairy children of the forest. They worked as caretakers of the ecosystem, and the joyous spirits of nture. Among the original Kokiri was a girl, who went by the name of Sira. Her fairy was named Flit, and together, they were a kind and loving duo. They enjoyed adventuring together, and playing with their Kokiri brethren. However, they were impulsive and curious, often failing to heed the warnings that getting lost in the woods would make them into something else.
And one day, they did get lost, and couldn't find their way home.
Not many Kokiri had been lost before them, but those who were never showed up again, at least alive. Sira was determined to mke it home, but when she came across the skeleton of a Kokiri, she knew exactly what happened. So she vowed to survive instead. But the forest had a way of changing the lost, and over time, Sira began to change as well. It was years, a mere blink in the lifespan of a Kokiri, that Sira found her way home, but it was too late. She was a Skull Kid by then.
Her brethren rejected her and Flit. Saddened by this, they took back to the forest, deciding to just explore deeper and distance themselves as far from the Kokiri as possible. What they found was something hidden, not brought to the Great Deku Tree's attention. One second, they were walking, then a step through unknown foliage brought Sira falling, with Flit trying to stop her. They both breached a pool of water, with a slimy feel.
The Kokiri still tell legends of how loud and horrifying the screams from the forest were that day.
What emerged from the pool was something quite different than what emerged. It was the two, but they were corrupted by the darkness of Ganon, fighting for control against the dark energy that infested the pool. Desperate for help, Sina fought her way through the woods, now purple eyes pulsing with veins of darkness, carrying her dying faerie. She went to the only being she thought could help.
The Great Deku Tree.
Saddened to see one of his children sickened as such, even if she were a Skull Kid. He opened the dungeon inside him, where pure waters laid, and in them, magic of the forest was used upon them. The two were healed, but changed. Because he was unable to directly heal them, the Great Deku Tree instead infused them with nature's power. They emerged, Flit taking a feral, wolf-like appearence, and Sina came out with the eyes and teeth of a beast. Some of the corruption still lingered, but they would live, and not be turned into monsters. The Deku Tree told his children that they were welcome when they were better, but for now, they had to leave to protect the others.
So they did, living in the woods. They became a sort of legend, a ghost in the woods, and Kokiri whispered of Sina and Flit. But time lost their names, as time always does, and their identity went with it. They took new names, fitting of their roles in the world. Hollow and Blight. The embrace of death and the cause of it.
Centuries later, they reunited with he who birthed them, and though it was joyous, the Great Deku Tree spoke of a coming catastrophe. He asked them to stand vigilant, to which they agreed.
And as such, they watched as the Triforce was shattered, in fear and rage. When the glowing shard fell at their feet, they took it, and returned to the forest, biding their time until the opportunity presented itself.
APPEARANCE
Not many know what Hollow looks like under the garb she wears, as she has trusted few with her actual appearance. She wears the white fur of forest beasts, tailored by her to fit just right. Over her face is a mask, carved in an anamalistic style, and her blue eyes shine through it. Underneath is what is recognizable as the Kokiri she once was, but disfigured, with veins of purple running down her face. Her eyes shine unnaturally, and she has elongated teeth that stick out of her closed mouth, much like fangs.
Blight, instead of a normal fairy, was changed by the Deku Tree's healing, and instead given an animalistic form. He resembles a wolf spirit, with the teeth and fierce look to match, and wears a mask that is similar to Hollow's, in contrasting colors. When he moves, a purple mist follows, staying in the air for a few brief seconds before dissipating.
MAGIC
+ Eternal Youth: The Kokiri are forever in the appearance of children or young teens, and are agelessly immortal. They can, however, be killed by others.
+ Guardian Fairy: All Kokiri are accompanied by a Guardian Fairy that acts as a companion for your character's journey. They are not playable races (yet), so they are controlled completely by the Kokiri player. If your character should fall, you can use your fairy to resurrect yourself. Doing this, would permanently lose your fairy guardian.
- Weak to Fire: Kokiri are woodland children, and have a weakness to fire. They will take extra damage from fire based attacks.
MOONLIGHT STALKING: Hollow shimmers, and her agility is enhanced. She releases a mist from her body similar to Blight's, which can be used to conceal her movements, or disorient the opponent.
WEAPONS
SHEPARD'S BOW: The Shepard's Bow has been enchanted with a simple magic spell for ease of use: it produces its own arrows, shimmering silver and black magic bolts that act as normal arrows would.
