None of these dates are considered to be canon to the ACTUAL LORE of the games. We at ZRP have taken it upon ourselves to estimate and create a plausible time that each of these events took place, to give us a better understanding of events of the past.
[break][break]
Most of the information below is canon to each of their specific games. This means that they contain heavy spoilers for the FOLLOWING: Skyward Sword, Minish Cap, Four Swords, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess. It is not required for you to read this! This is simply to give people an estimate of how long ago certain core events of our history took place.
[break][break]
Sprinkled into each area of canon is accents of fan theory from not only the creators of ZRP, but various game theorists online. Please note that any information that is considered non-canon belongs to the rightful creator of said theories.
In the beginning, there were three old gods, also known as the golden goddesses. Together, they created the earth and sky. Din, the goddess of power, created the land. Nayru, the goddess of wisdom, created order. Farore, the goddess of courage, created the diverse inhabitants.
[break][break]
Upon leaving the world, the goddesses left behind the Triforce - three golden triangles. It is said that any wish the possessor of the Triforce desires will come true.
[break][break]
The golden goddesses departed from the world they created and left the Triforce in the care of the Goddess Hylia. It is unknown why the Triforce was left behind.
[break][break]
The Triforce grants wishes to those who touch it. Because the Triforce does not distinguish between good ro evil, any wish can be granted.
[break][break]
A strong heart, innate ability, and a balance of the three virtues (power, wisdom, courage) are required to be granted a wish. If one who does not possess the balance of the three virtues touches the Triforce, the three pieces split apart. The finder is left with the piece that personifies what he or she values most. The other two pieces will appear on the hands of two individuals, chosen by the will of the goddesses - a member of the Royal Family and the spirit of the hero. One must reunite the three pieces in order to obtain true power.
During the era of the goddess Hylia, many demons arose in pursuit of the Triforce. The leader, Demise, the Demon King, tried to take over the world with his evil powers. After a battle against the demonic forces, Hylia gathered the humans who had survived, along with the Triforce, onto a plot of land and sent it into the sky. She positioned a heavy barrier of clouds between the island in the sky and the land below to protect the humans and the Triforce.
[break][break]
The goddess and the remaining tribes, along with the chosen hero battled on the surface for their lives against Demise. They were victorious and they sealed him away.
[break][break]
The land was saved, but the seal that kept the Demon King imprisoned was weak. In an attempt to destroy Demise, the goddess Hylia tried to use the power of the Triforce. However, a goddess cannot use its wield its power. Thus, the goddess Hylia decided to renounce her divinity and be reborn as a human.
[break][break]
With Hylia's passing, Impa of the Sheikah tribe was entrusted with watching over the sealed prison of the Demon King until she returned. Impa is famous among the Sheikah clan and is now a common name for their tribe.
The plot of land Hylia sent into the sky became known as the Isle of the Goddess. The islands in the sky where the surviving humans dwell became known as Skyloft. There, the humans lived with guardian birds, knwon as loftwings, given to them by Hylia. This world, as the timeline progresses has become abandoned, being now known as the ancient city in the sky.
[break][break]
Only a few individuals on the surface knew about the existence of the goddess and Skyloft. After a few thousand years, their story was forgotten and became legend. Depictions of the Triforce and what would later be known as the sage medallions can be seen on the ceiling of the entrance to the Temple of Hylia - now known as the Temple of Time, since Rauru has built over it. When the land was split from the surface, it caused the temple to crack and split as well. It was never fixed, even when it was in use.
[break][break]
As the seal of Demise, the Demon King, began to weaken, a human girl was born. That girl was named Zelda, and she was the goddess Hylia reincarnated. In that same time, the spirit of the hero who fought in battle under the goddess was then reincarnated into a young lad named Link. Destiny would have it that the two would grow very fond of each other so that Link would go to the ends of the earth to protect his best friend - that is the nature of the unbreakable spirit. In that moment, a cycle was created and it would be fate that the unbreakable spirit of the hero would always be devoted to the reincarnation of the goddess Hylia.
[break][break]
The sword kept inside the Statue of the Goddess on the island, is an ancient sword known as the Goddess Sword. The goddess Hylia left the sword and its spirit, Fi, to guide the new Hero. The sword and its legend have always been protected by ancient members of the head family of Skyloft. Legend had it that when evil returned to the land, the sword will begin to glow and can be drawn by the chosen hero.
[break][break]
After Zelda had disappeared, Link was guided by Fi to find her. Having to discover the true hero inside himself, Link was forced to go through a number of trials to unlock blessings on the sword, eventually having it blessed by Zelda herself - creating it to be a blade that no evil can touch - the Master Sword.
[break][break]
Link was then granted access to the Legendary Triforce. He became worthy of its omnipotent power upon the completion of his trials. He was granted his wish - the Statue of the Goddess returned to its former place in the sealed grounds, where it destroyed the Demon King Demise.
[break][break]
Unfortunately, though he was killed in the present time, he still existed in the past. Demise's follower had then kidnapped Zelda to revive him once more. Link then had to battle him one last time before successfully sealing him away. Upon his termination, the demon's hatred was absorbed and sealed into the Master Sword and peace returned to the land. Humans descended from Skyloft and returned to the surface.
The legend of a supreme power spread throughout the land, whetting the appetites of those who would possess the Triforce and inciting vicious threats between them. Paranoia spread of this rumor, and the first sage of Light, Rauru, constructed the Temple of Time, which contained the only existing entrance to the Sacred Realm, where the Triforce was located. With power stronger than both time and the Master Sword, Rauru sealed the Sacred Realm. The pedestal holding the Master Sword was closed behind the Door of Time, and the keys were protected by their respective people.
[break][break]
The Triforce was placed within the Light Temple in the Sacred Realm, which was now isolated from Hyrule. Protecting the Triforce of Light, Rauru became the guardian of the power of the Gods.
[break][break]
The descendants of the goddess Hylia, who was reincarnated into Zelda, established the kingdom of Hyrule and became Hyrule's Royal Family. In order to protect the Triforce, Hyrule Castle was built in the center of Hyrule, where the temple of Time was located. The royal family watched over the Triforce, keeping its existence unknown to others.
[break][break]
Many members of the royal family were born with special powers because of the lineage that connected them to the goddess. Princesses were repeatedly given the name Zelda, a name that came from the historical legends.
In the first major event to happen since the kingdom of Hyrule was established, the world was engulfed by evil beings and shrouded in darkness. It was then that a tiny Picori descended from the sky, bringing a golden light and a sword. Using the sword, the Hero of Men sealed the evil beings away in the Bound Chest and brought peace to the world again. The golden light was known as the Light Force.
[break][break]
After sealing away the evil beings, the royal family of Hyrule became the careful overseers of the sword, which became known as the Picori Blade. Furthermore, the royal family kept the existence of the land of the Picori, the Minish Realm, hidden.
[break][break]
During the hundredth year of the Picori Festival, a young man named Vaati was the victor. Vaati believed that the Light Force was in the Bound Chest. He broke the blade to unseal the chest and found that it did not contain the force at all. The evil that had been sealed inside poured forth from the chest.
[break][break]
A young boy named Link was forced to then take up arms, chosen by the Picori Sword as it was pieced back together and then went on his journey to stop Vaati as the Princess was turned to stone. Collecting four elements, Link then placed then upon the sacred pedestal in an elemental sanctuary. The Picori Blade became infused with the sacred power of the elements and transformed into the Four Sword, which gave the wielder the ability to create four identical copies of himself. It was then revealed that the Light Force dwelled within Princess Zelda.
[break][break]
In one final battle, Link was able to defeat Vaati.
[break][break]
During this time, two rivaling nobles, Nessa and Ambi had gone separate ways to establish their own cities, which eventually had become the kingdoms of Holodrum and Labrynna.
Peace was fleeting in Hyrule. Vaati, presumed dead, suddenly reappeared, and the terror returned to the land. Vaati occupied the Palace of the Winds and kidnapped every beautiful young woman in Hyrule, one by one. That was when the Hero, carrying the legendary Four Sword, appeared. tapping into the swords power, the hero's body split into four, and the combined power of the Heroes was enough to defeat Vaati. Vaati was sealed in the Four Sword and enshrined in the Elemental Sanctuary.
The war in Hyrule raged unabated for countless eras. In the midst of the confusion, a lone woman fled the fires of war, babe in arms, and escaped to the Forbidden Forest. She entrusted her child to the spirit of the Kokiri Forest, the Deku Tree. The Deku Tree, sensing that the infant's destiny was intertwined with Hyrule's future, took the child in. Once the child's mother had breathed her last, the babe was raised a as Kokiri. The boy was named Link after the chosen hero - for that was who he was meant to be. The fighting was eventually quelled by the King of Hyrule, and the entire land was unified under his Kingdom.
[break][break]
The scars of war faded from Hyrule, and it seemed that, at last, the world was at peace. Ganondorf, leader of the Gerudo, the people of the desert, once again swore fealty to the King of Hyrule. However, Ganondorf's true aim was the Triforce, said to lie somewhere within the Kingdom. Young Princess Zelda had foreseen that he would bring a great darkness, though her father did not believe her.
[break][break]
After the young boy named Link had opened the Door of Time and took arms of the Master Sword, he was put into a deep sleep for seven years. Ganondorf, who had secretly followed him into the temple had then invaded the Sacred Realm to lay his hands on the Triforce. However, only the Triforce of Power remained, as the Triforces of Wisdom and Courage had scattered, seeking those with the ability to wield them.
[break][break]
When Link had awoken, he was an adult. When Princess Zelda played her harp, she imparted her wisdom to Link, instructing him to break the curse on each of the temples to awaken the sages. After awakening each of them, he had then set forth to battle Ganondorf. After defeating him, the sages then sealed him away in a void within the Sacred Realm. Link is then returned to his normal time as a child.
[break][break]
Now aware of the consequences of Ganondorf invading the Sacred Realm, Zelda entrusts the Ocarina of Time with Link as he sets off in a journey, leaving Hyrule and venturing into the parallel world of Termina. While he is away, the predictions had come true and Ganondorf had attempted to to break into the Temple of Time, waging war with the Hylians as he and his Gerudo forces demolished the city, leaving it in ruins. This resulted in the Gerudo Hylian War.
[break][break]
After the destruction of not only the Castle Town, but as well as Lon Lon Ranch and Kakariko Village, the Spirit Sage Nabooru (who had betrayed Ganondorf) had given plans to the Hylians and the newly established Knights Order of Snowpeak to invad Gerudo Valley, turning a tide of war and expelling the Gerudo tribe and an attempt at executing Ganondorf. The Triforce of Power had still resonated with him, and as such, in a last moment of fear, the sages had banished Ganondorf to the Sacred Realm and attempted to shattered the Mirror of Twilight. During this exile, Ganondorf was able to murder one of the sages - the forest sage, Saria.
[break][break]
With Castletown left in ruins, the Royal family and the rest of the Hylians had decided to rebuild the castle town in a different location, leaving the city in ruins, as well as the Temple of Time. Due to the fear of the Sacred Realm being invaded, the temple is still watched by the Royal Family closely.
[break][break]
When The Hero of Time had returned from Termina to a ruined Hyrule, he seeked out Princess Zelda to find out what had happened. Since the hero was not remembered for his hardships to defeat Ganondorf, the Hylians did not recognize him for his heroic deeds. Rather than dwelling on this, he had decided to follow in his family's footsteps and became a knight. He asked for Zelda's hand in marriage, having children with her - one of which ended up marrying Malon's children. The two had relocated, creating the Ordon Village.
In his time of exile, Ganondorf was sent to the Twilight Realm. There, the Demon King granted the ambitious Zant magical powers and began plotting to unite the world of light with the world of shadow, creating a single realm known as the Dark World.
[break][break]
Zant's influence steadily increased. Clouds of darkness covered the Twilight Realm, and the Twili began transforming into demons. Midna, the Twilight Princess, attempted to oppose him, but was cursed and fled to the Light World.
[break][break]
The peace that had reigned in the Light World for over two centuries was broken by Zant's army of Shadow Beasts. Zant, now known as the King of Twilight, launched an invasion of Hyrule, and Princess Zelda was faced with a decision. Would she allow the kingdom to be destroyed in fires of war, or would she surrender and allow Hyrule to fall under the domain of the Twilight? The princess chose the latter.
[break][break]
Across the land, the Light Spirits lost their light to the Twili. The Light World was gradually transformed into Twilight, and the people, not realizing what was happening, were filled with a shadowy fear. The Chosen Hero, Link (blood related to the Hero of Time), when touched by the Twilight was transformed into a beast. Midna immediately knew he would be the hero of legend and guided him through the dark world, slowly returning it to light.
[break][break]
After defeating Zant, Ganondorf was fully resurrected, sitting on the throne of Hyrule Castle. He launched his attack by taking possession of the Princess Zelda. Link then battled him for the Land of Hyrule and was successful, his spirit locked away into the sacred realm once more.
When the new age of a hero and goddess emerged, they were set with an inexplicable amount of obstacles. With political discourse among Hyrule with the neighboring kingdoms of Labrynna and Holodrum emerged, power was taken from the shadows, which opened a portal to the Sacred Realm - unleashing monsters and demons of all sorts into the land.
In an attempt to subdue these monsters, vastly unprepared, the hero had fallen and and princess was forced to take matters into her own hands - praying to the gods. As a result, they cast away the hero and destroyed the Triforce.
[break][break]
Falling into obsession with bringing back the hero, who was now imprisoned in the Sacred Realm by the gods for his failure, the throne had been usurped by the Zoran Prince who was working with the evil goddess, Majora. Zelda made sacrifices to her divinity in order to bring Link back to the Realm of Light, and they were forced to fight a battle that seemed unwinnable.
[break][break]
As the princess did everything she could to rekindle her connection with the goddess, more darkness spread over the land, which would result in the ultimate battle between Hylia and Majora. Unfortunately, because of this, they had accidently revealed and destroyed the tomb of the Demon King, unleashing his blight across the land, and causing the next calamity.
[break][break]
This Calamity destroyed the isle - Hyrule, Labrynna, and Holodrum were all left to ruins, while few survived. In one last effort to protect her people, Zelda sacrificed herself, casting a bubble around Hyrule to keep the blight out, but monsters still lurked. The surviving population was left scattered and afraid, as deadly monsters took force across the land.

[attr="class","Vgenoptionalhdr"][attr="class","ion-chevron-right"] 400 YEARS AGO - THE CALAMITY
