Marin stood at the entrance of a fortified cave, carefully hidden amongst the mountainside. The only clues that it was different from any other cave were the little window holes bored through the walls to allow light into the upper levels. Both a cave and a natural fortress, it was very obvious that someone called this place home. Listening closely, Marin could hear the sound of chattering reverberating off the walls from within. However, she dared not step foot inside alone. Her place was at the helm of this investigation, lest the occupants turn out to be criminals or monsters that might enjoy giving her a good beating. The young princess gave up listening after a bit, as she was unable to discern anything that was actually being said from outside and moved to settle down next to settle down behind some shrubs where she wouldn't be instantly seen if anyone decided to poke their heads out folding her legs underneath her and wrapping her arms around her knees for security.
Right now she was waiting for an old friend of the family, someone she'd never really known on a personal level because of her age and relative immaturity but someone she could trust to look after her. As she sat there deep in her own thoughts, she quietly imagined what it must be like to be a knight and a royal adviser at the same time. It seemed like a very wide skill set to master to her, but then again she hadn't mastered any skills. What would she know about mastery? A gentle sigh escaped her. Perhaps that was a train of thought she'd rather not go down right now. Today was a good day, so far! There was a cave to explore, which was decidedly far more interesting.
He was to escort lady Zelda's younger sister through a dungeon as her bodyguard today as he walked towards the cave. It was quite a trek to the cave itself in hyrule field but nothing he couldn't handle. As Leon arrived at the cave his blue eyes scanned the area around him and saw the supposed person he was to protect. "Am I correct in thinking that you are Lady Marin?" He would ask politely. His attire was that of the former royal guard and with his sword and shield in equipped and ready to be used at a moments notice. "I was asked to guard you during this expedition we are going on." As he heard sounds coming from the cave he quickly took a glance at Marin who though beautiful in her dress wasn't very protected from attacks. "Wouldn't you want to wear something a bit more protective for this? Hmm I guess it doesn't matter much as long as you stay behind me while we traverse this cave." Leon said as he glanced back at the cave.
(Sorry for the short post but i couldn't think of anything else)
Spotting Leon coming, Marin's mood improved substantially now that she had company. Standing back up and quickly brushing her dress off, she would greet Leon with an inviting smile. He might notice that Marin had Zelda's eyes icy blue eyes, or rather that they both had the icy blue eyes emblematic of the royal family. "I am~" Marin replied light-heartedly, always content when she was addressed properly. That marked a good day in her books. She was, however, a little put off by Leon's remark. ...Wear something else? Eeuurgh... "I don't own armor." Marin replied in a matter o' fact tone. She wasn't about to admit that she wasn't strong enough to handle all the extra weight of armor and preferred being able to run away at a moment's notice, not right now anyway. "So you must be... Sir Leon, then~! It looks a little dark in there. Maybe we could remain undetected if we're quiet." Marin would go on to remark and suggest. She did like the idea of getting the drop on any monsters hanging out inside instead of the other way around. "Will you lead the way?" she went on to ask, having no objections to remaining behind Leon during their journey.
The fact she didn't own armor made him a little weary but it was his job as a knight to protect the royal family, well at least unofficially since he was never really appointed the job of bodyguard and his 'Royal Adviser' title was just that now, just a title. He wondered if there would be any good ingredients for food he could prepare after dealing with the goblins, maybe so but those goblins wouldn't just give them up to him and he had to make sure that Lady Marin would be safe at all times so him blindly looking for ingredients would have to wait a bit. Taken out of his thoughts she addressed him as 'Sir Leon' which was to be perfectly honest not something he was used to hearing especially now but he didn't mind much as it made him sound like a proper knight which he technically was at this point. "That I am Milady." He took a quick glance into the cave to see the goblins were eating currently and hadn't noticed them yet as they munched on meat they had from a dead animal rather audibly in the dark. "Good point lady Marin lets sneak on past them while they are eating." He would stick close to lady Marin hoping she would follow behind him as they both would sneak past the goblins chowing down on the poor dead animal. As they would sneak past they would now be out of the line of sight for the goblins and now into a large cavern, though dark it was lit by torches the goblins seemingly made that lit the way. Leon took this chance to glance around making sure no goblin was around the area currently and kept his sword and shield at the ready just in case. Leon glanced back at lady Marin to ask why she wanted to go cave exploring, though Leon wouldn't admit it yet he wanted this just as much as lady Marin did as he loved to explore. "So lady Marin why are we exploring this dark cave in the first place?" he had to ask even though he pretty much knew the answer already whilst still keeping on guard.
(Sorry for the late post! I had no muse till now.)
Marin slipped behind Leon and began to tip toe her way behind him, her footsteps almost inaudible against the rocky, uneven cave floor. As they approached the source of the commotion within the cave fortress their enemies would become visible. A small group of three miniblins was huddled around lunch, babbling hyperactively in a language that made no sense to Marin. It sounded a lot like they were just making the same sounds over and over again! ...Watching them bounce and skip about gave her the impression that maybe they were just hyperactive and making noise because it was all they knew how to do. Luckily, all of this noise provided a secondary cover for them to skip past the miniature goblins without detection. Even given noise, however, the goblins seemed to pick up on something. Unfortunately, Leon's armor would likely be making stealth very difficult. Armor had a habit of clanking when one moved about, and its weight made light-footing around far more difficult. One could hear the miniblins quiet down as they seemed to pick up on a noise that wasn't theirs, but thankfully their attention span was quite non-existent and they quickly became distracted again by their own noises.
It would not be until the duo was nice and far past the miniblins that Marin would dare to speak. Even then, only after a moment of alarm following Leon's voice. For a moment she was worried that someone would have heard them and come running, but no such enemies arrived. Breathing a sigh of relief, Marin spoke in a soft tone in response. "...Well, this place is pretty well hidden, correct? I think it must be that way for a reason. The way I see it, this is probably where these creatures hide things they don't want anyone to find. Things they keep around without eating or breaking. Treasure. Judging by the size of the place and the presence of children, it belongs to a pretty big group. Probably one of the greater goblin tribes in the field. If they picked up anything really valuable, it's probably stored somewhere in this cave fort." Marin explained. The goblins were excellent scavengers, so she wouldn't be surprised at all if they'd picked up quite a few valuables over time, if not outright robbed them from passing travelers. They could have anything, really. Rupees, equipment, fine cloth, or even a lost triforce shard! There was no telling with these things! "...I'm not sure sneaking will continue to work unless we double our efforts, though." Marin would go on to remark, very nervous about how dangerously close they were to being exposed their first time around. She then beckoned for Leon to move forward.
Further into the cave was a fork. From one end of the fork she could hear distant trilling noises, the sounds of more mature goblins. There was quite a few of them, which seemed to indicate to her that some sort of living or sleeping quarters was there. On the other hand, it could be guards fussing over their treasure! Each path was nice and dark, with the occasional torch providing dim lighting so that you could at least see your hands in front of you. Marin's brow furrowed. She turned her gaze up at Leon questioningly for a moment before gesturing down the quieter path. It seemed like she wanted to avoid monsters if she could.
