Living for centuries upon centuries certainly has an effect on a person, and Nynaeve is no exception to this rule. Gerudo children did give her the name “Old Hag” for a reason, as they were thoroughly convinced she had taken a jump off the deep end long before they were born. In truth, Nynaeve simply prefers the company of herself, often muttering thoughts out as she works on her spells and potions. Lately, however, people have noticed the murmurs are more like conversations than musings. She isn’t unkind, or cruel to others, but instead comes off as rather introverted, as the witches have seemed to be. She works happily for the family and counsel of the Gerudo king alive at any given time, happy to give advice when needed.
However, this isn’t to say she lacks a sinister side. She is quite capable of working against someone’s true motivations if they have angered her or her kingdom enough. She first and foremost works for herself, and though she is willing to work for others, it is either in her benefit or at a great cost. She didn’t survive all these centuries off charity, after all. Enemies can expect her sweet demeanor, up until the point that she watches them eat the laced chocolate so graciously given to them by a child she conscripted.
In terms of herself, Nynaeve is relatively comfortable, happy with her looks, and quite capable of seducing other Gerudo. Seduction is always at a benefit, however, and rarely leads to commitment. It’s simply a means to an end. As is friendship and connections. Everything must benefit her, or it is irrelevant. Such is her way of life, a way of life that has kept her alive for so long. Selfishness is survival.
LIKES
[attr="class","scroll"]
Solitude: The best work is done alone. When nobody is there to interrupt her, that is when her work truly excels. Besides, why would she want to give her secrets away? It's better if everyone is kept ignorant.
Stories: Often, her payment for potions and salves is a simple story. She is fascinated with what people have gone through, listening to their tales. She prefers them to be true, however, and has a knack for knowing when people are lying.
People who listen: She's been around the block a few times, and hundreds years of life have kept her mind sharp. She likes it when people take her advice to heart, trusting her as a source of good information. After all, she's seen it all, and lived to tell the tale. Why shouldn't they?
DISLIKES
[attr="class","scroll"]
Competition: Nobody else makes spells and potions like her. If someone tries, they are insulting both her skill and intelligence, and that is intolerable. She will attempt to run anyone opposing her from the village, but this doesn't mean that some people have went missing that angered her.
Direct fighting: She isn't the most physical fighter. Though she acknowledges the use of martial prowess, she sees no use to partake in it. Indirect combat is much better for her, due to lack of strength and a weapon to use. A poison snuck in someone's waterskin works much better than a sword in their neck.
Public appearances: She isn't a fan of speaking in front of big groups of people. The better she stays in the shadows, the better. it keeps suspicion off of her, and makes her life much easier.
MOTIVATIONS
[attr="class","scroll"]
Serve her people: Her goal through her life has been the betterment of the Gerudo people, and nobody else. Prosperity through the land will, in some way, be directly at her hand, and at any cost to other people. Of course, she gains from this, as well, but it's just a happy side effect, no more and no less.
Live forever: One doesn't stay alive as long as Nynaeve does without wanting it, and she will do whatever needed to keep doing so, including keeping her spells to the death - preferably the other's.
Watch the world go on: She's seen much, and every generation brings something new. She knows secrets others don't, and she wants to learn more. In her mind, she is just an observer, doing what she must to put the world right (which is rather subjective, but that's beside the point.)
Live forever: One doesn't stay alive as long as Nynaeve does without wanting it, and she will do whatever needed to keep doing so, including keeping her spells to the death - preferably the other's.
FEARS
[attr="class","scroll"]
Death: First and foremost, Nynaeve is afraid of death. In paranoia of this, she has made many potions and salves over the years, perfecting her alchemy to extend her eternal youth, as well as cure ailments she may catch.
Failing her people: Nynaeve has always played a role in keeping the Gerudo stable and prosperous, so if they were to fall, she would take responsibility upon herself and try to fix the issue. No matter the cost, the Gerudo must prosper.
Cats: The beasts are bad luck in Gerudo cultures of old, so Nynaeve has a disdain for the beasts, bordering on a full-blown fear.
HISTORY
Nynaeve’s history isn’t explained better as her own, but rather as the history of the Gerudo as a whole. She has spanned multiple generations since she was born to the world, raised as a child by her successors, the child of the Gerudo King at the time. As was customary for those with great magical prowess in the Gerudo, she was taken under apprenticeship of the witches Koume and Kotake, the elder witches of her people. There, she learned spells and salves, potions that could cure lameness, and poisons that could kill a Dodongo. She grew proficient in the art, her apprentice lasting twenty years before she was seen as equal to the old witches. With this, she was able to take their place, and they passed on their powers, finally letting death take them.
Her history, though, had just started, and she spent the better part of a normal Gerudo lifespan perfecting a potion for eternal youth. She played advisor to the new king, the singular male born of the Gerudo, and helped defend her homeland from attacks by bandit Shiekah and Goron. Eventually, the potion was finished, and in taking it, she found it had worked. This elated her, but she knew it was a secret nobody else it could have. Thus, the Gerudo witch faded into obscurity.
She was in and out of history for some time, a wanderer that lived far in the desert. She made several big moves for her people, however, such as healing an ailed king, or using her magic to ward off a giant dragon attacking her homeland. She has only resurfaced recently as the Goddesses ripped their power from the three vessels, Triforce shattered. Once again, she is at the side of the Gerudo king, his mage in power, right hand, and most trusted advisor. She seems different than the stories describe her as, however, more paranoid of other races, and rather reclusive, working on spells late at night.
APPEARANCE
SHES HOT AS FUCK
MAGIC
+ Super Strength: Because they are tall warrior women, they are very strong and able to fight back at equal or stronger strength of warrior men.
+ Heat Resistance: The Gerudo live in the desert, and have thrived in it for centuries. Because of this, they are able to withstand the scorching heat of the sun - this does not, however, give them resistance to fire.
REGENT POTENTIAL: When mixing a potion, Nynaeve's magic inherently alters the nature of the regents to where they are just that more effective. A potion that restores stamina suddenly makes somebody move a little faster, and healing potions seem more effective, for example. Nothing too drastic, just slight buffs.
