||Another Skull Kid fell as its skull was met with the sole of a leather boot. The last thing it saw was the grin of a blonde man before darkness took it as it was knocked out along with its sibling. "Two down...and a handful of...oh Deku nuts." Once the two were dealt with the man had begun digging into a trunk that was obviously carve into to hold the monster's treasures. He got wind of a rumor of a duo of thieves taking some people's belongings in the nearby forest and Ookami knew that if he was the first onto the scene surely he would be able to keep some of the stolen goods as payment. Obviously however these two were not the culprits.
"Sorry mates, still keeping these though. Make a great snack y'know." He spoke tot he two dazed creatures before walking out of their little den and back into the woods. The sun shone through the trees and Ookami held up his hand to keep it out of his face as he took in the area before him. While there was light the number of trees still made it a bit hard to see further ahead and the overabundance of foliage scratched at his legs as he trekked through. "Okay...should be...close to the little Kako's village. I think." He remembered seeing a trail leading to it but now he forget where exactly. Damn woods and its misleading plants and nature, if he knew a bit of fire magick he might take it upon himself to "curb" the ecosystem a little.
However instead of simply just imagine what he would do he decided to just wander the woods. Perhaps he might find some more snacks up in a tree or bush, get lucky and find his way back to the village, or actually find the bandits he set out to look for. So with his arms raised up behind his head he began pacing his way letting the tune of his whistling echo lightly through the forest.
singing songs in the Lost Woods like nobody's listening ~
A sound would soon the man's ears - one that sounded distant, and yet oh-so-close. It was something gentle, haunting and yet enchanting. The voice of someone singing it sounded like. But who did this mystery voice belong to? Whatever it was, it surely warranted investigation. The source of this voice would belong to Caelum, dressed in his commoner's clothing, sitting leisurely by the side of a small pond, its waters glistening gently as sunlight poured in from the treetops above. His leather boots sat by his side, leggings rolled up so that his legs may cool themselves within the gentle water. He didn't seem to be very aware of his surroundings. But things seemed calm enough for him to sing. Or perhaps, things were growing calm because of his singing? Who could say?
All the same, it was both curious, and alluring how one could produce the sounds of a chorus on their own? Perhaps it was with the assistance of the walls of the Lost Wood? Mayhaps there was some other-worldly force at work to make it happen? Maybe he was just that good? ...No. That last one seems a little too unlikely. One would have to be a God in order to pull that off with one body. And yet here he was - a young man, human at that, singing as though he'd been granted a divine gift from the Heavens. Such as it was to be brought up with it in the royal family.
"Ad Idem (Of the same mind) Ad Infinitum (Without Limit) In Memoriam (In memory) Cor Unum (One heart) Vi et Armis (By force and arms) Vale (Farewell)"
The echoes would slowly die down as Caelum's song came to an end, a hand rising to brush its fingers through his tangled auburn locks. He would continue to hum gently to himself, slowly fluttering his feet back and forth within the pond water. If it turned out that there was in fact someone lurking behind him, he was completely unawares. If he were to receive a surprise at this time, it could be good... or bad. Whichever comes first.
||The music did in fact reach the man as he heard his own tune become drowned in the echoes of the more wonderful and mystic voice that graces the forest ahead of him. It was just enchanting that Ookami had to figure out where it was coming from. Perhaps a Great Fairy? He had skimmed across a few legends about them yet they all said they were well hidden. Perhaps this one was an outlier? If it was perhaps he might be able to get something from just meeting one, they were said to bestow powerful gifts. Oh what he would do with a new blade coursing with magic or new magic of his very own!
While his hopes were being built up the moment he reached the pond where the singing was coming from it was dashed in a mere matter of seconds as all he could see was another male there. The only one there. Ookami had managed to catch the last bit of his song before he went into humming. He was amazing none the less but he didn't look like a Great Fairy, not that Ookami knew what one looked like, he was just another mortal probably using a bit of magic to improve his singing. Silver lining, he met someone out here in the woods that could point him in the right direction.
"What a real nice song. Could make a few rupees if you held a concert in say...Kakiriko? Would have a better audience than the critters 'round here." He chimed in with a small applause of his own at the performance even though he was still disappointed.
No sooner had an unfamiliar voice reached ears had Caelum sprung up and around upon his feet, taking the bow slung over his body and stringing an arrow to it, a swift tug of his firing arm and the arrow was cocked and ready to fly. Icy blue eyes locked with deep-blue, brows knitted together in a clear sign of defensive aggression. Though, he didn't quite release the arrow just yet. This man before him was one he had not seen around the wood, so naturally, he was a stranger. However, the question belying the obvious was who was he, and why was he here? If he turned out to be a spy seeking out Zelda's coalition, there would be problems...
"What a real nice song. Could make a few rupees if you held a concert in say...Kakiriko? Would have a better audience than the critters 'round here."
He'd heard him sing? That fact alone was almost enough to make Caelum's cheeks burn red, if not for the growing intensity of focus he placed upon the other. He'd shake it off before returning to that stern look upon his face. "State your name and business, lest I plant one between your eyes." he firmly demanded, taking a moment to actually take in this stranger's details. Wild blonde hair, deep blue eyes, scars practically marking him from head-to-toe. He also seemed to be a few years younger than Caelum. Yet despite that, there was an air about him... this man had seen his fair share of battle before. The chance that he was seeking out Zelda in the worst case scenario was becoming more and more viable.
||The response he got from crashing the little concert was just as he expected. Surprise and concern that he was something looking to do some harm. Not an uncommon thing when people first saw him, some close compatriots did say he could pass as a hardened warrior if he let a bear grow or let age work its magic on him. His grin never left his face as he went from clapping to raising his hands up in a sign of surrender to the threat made to him. "Whoa whoa whoa." He yelled out as his hands pumped towards the male in an attempt to signal him to slow down his murderous intent.
"Just an adventurer looking for old temples to explore...and possibly loot." It wasn't like they would really need some of the old stuff in there anyway right? "Besides I should ask the same of you. Not many would sing in the middle of the woods. Might attract some nasty beasts or worse." He hoped the boy wouldn't think that he was of the latter, he may loot a few loose coins lying around on someone's dresser but he was no bandit! That was unless he took a job that required him to liberate a few items from someone.

"Whoa whoa whoa. Just an adventurer looking for old temples to explore... and possibly loot. Besides I should ask the same of you. Not many would sing in the middle of the woods. Might attract some nasty beasts or worse."
Caelum's face reddened at the mention of his singing again. He typically wasn't one for an audience, so the idea that someone walked in on him performing was again, moderately embarrassing. "I-I...! I sing when I have a lot on my mind! Not that it's any concern of yours!" he stated oh-so-matter-of-factly. He reached to slide an arrow back into the quiver on his back, swinging the bow around so it rested comfortably across his shoulder. "Besides, I'm more than capable of taking care of myself. I'd be more concerned about "treasure hunters" snooping about in search of easy money." he said as he peered at the man with one eye open, clearly in a huff over the current situation panning out.
All the while, Caelum felt that he could confirm that this man was no spy. If that were the case, they would have fallen into an altercation by now, and one of them would be walking out of the wood alive. But considering the circumstances, he supposed he could relax his guard just a little bit. Though, he would remain wary all the while as he eyed the battle-scarred man once again. "So... are you really only here to explore the temple? There's no ulterior motive you have in mind?" As if the concept of Caelum not trusting this man wasn't already established, he was making it very clear right now. Though despite that, the thought of perhaps perusing the Forest Temple himself didn't seem like such a bad idea.
||Despite all of the bravado he was giving off he couldn't help but see the guy as a little puppy trying to act tough. Especially with that stutter at the beginning of his words. "Sure ya coulda. If I wasn't faster than that bow of course." He teased while walking towards the man, veering to the side of him to the water's edge and lowering himself to cup some water into a single hand and lift it to his lips. It was cool, refreshing, and just what he needed to calm down the nerves of almost getting an arrow stuck in him. That would have made his day all the more worse since he didn't manage to find anything worthwhile in this forest.
Speaking of which the other man did question if his endeavors actually were good which prompted Ookami to just grin for a good second before letting out a long exasperated sigh. "Yes actually... but couldn't find the damn thing in the first place. Besides if I did have another "motive" you'd probably be missing that bow of yours right now. Although...how do I know you don't have a horrible motive for being out here hm?" He grinned while looking at the other youth with a hand resting against his sword, ready to strike if his little tease turned out to be a truth. That wouldn't be a first for him and he was ready to not let it catch him off guard.

"I have doubts about that..." Caelum muttered under his breath, blue eyes never leaving the man who walked up to the pond's shore to drink a handful of the clean water to quench his thirst. He then made a comment about how if he had an ulterior motive to tomb raiding, that Caelum would have been missing his bow. "Implying that I wouldn't be able to function without it..." he replied rather sarcastically, eyeing the man as he stood upright and now turned things around in claiming that perhaps Caelum was the one who was up to no good, earning a rather icy stare in kind.
"...Seriously? Firstly, I was already here. Secondly, you snuck up on me. And last, if that were really the case? I'm pretty sure one of us would be dead on the ground by now." Agitation was clearly written all over Caelum's face, though despite that, he did make a valid point, or so he believed anyway. He stepped a bit closer to the man, daring to leave mere inches of space between the two of them, blue eyes locked with blue eyes as he spoke once again.
"Lastly...Lumaria. If I had a motive and didn't want you to know, I highly doubt I would give you my name." granted, it was merely his middle name, it was still his name, regardless. But he wasn't sure he could risk giving him his full name. With all of the discord occurring in Hyrule, there was no telling what could be happening on the outside as well. For all he knew, this man could have been some mercenary hired to track down he and his sisters. So for now, he'd use his middle name as an alias. That seemed like the best case scenario here. It would give him more time to figure whether or not this mystery man could be trusted.
"Now... I've given you mine. So I think it only fair that you give me yours."
||"That's adorable." Ookami whispered under his breath as he listened to the young man list off that the blonde was the more suspicious one because he sneaked up on the other male. Okay he had that technicality on his side but that didn't mean Ookami was going to let him use it as much as he wanted. That was no fun.
"And I think the obvious is that I would be the victor. I mean I did get this close to ya." On the last word of his sentence he suddenly took a few quick steps towards the brunette with a grin just as he was. Then he suddenly gave him his name, well now that was a bad idea because Ookami had a little trouble trying to repeat it. "Lumi...Mary...forget it. Name's Ookami. Now you know." If anyone asked he would have to tell them the truth, the truth that this guy was one of the funniest he's met so far, a literal puppy if he's ever described someone like that.
"Well then Maria now that we're better antiquated how about you tell me where either this temple is or the local village. Because I really could use some treasure or a good drink, perhaps you could use the latter with that little temper of yers."

Somehow or another, he wasn't surprised that the man couldn't quite pronounce his middle name. Not many could, unless you were directly present at the time of his birth, or you'd been around long enough to hear it. Perhaps it was a good thing, this strange man named "Ookami" not knowing how to say his name? So far, there wasn't much to prove that this man was not after Caelum, his sisters, or their band of heroes they had rallied together. Though, it didn't stop him from looking the part of a brigand, so suspicion still hung in the air for the royal.
"Well then Maria now that we're better antiquated how about you tell me where either this temple is or the local village. Because I really could use some treasure or a good drink, perhaps you could use the latter with that little temper of yers."
Almost as if on cue, the hairs on Caelum's hair began to stand on end as his blue eyes widened upon hearing the pet name his sisters had given him during their years of growing up in the castle. It was one thing to hear it from his siblings, but to hear it from a man who spoke to him so casually, so nonchalantly, so condescendingly... something about it riled him up in a strange way - to have a man say his pet name to him while in such a close vicinity of one another was enough to make him lose all control as his face began to gradually burn bright red.
"Th...that...! That is not a name you will address me by!!" he shouted suddenly, his body acting on its own as he shoved the man away from himself and practically glared daggers at him. "How dare you address me in such a way! The only ones who have ever called me as such are my sisters, and even then I still detest it! And then you come along and address me as such in such a nonchalant fashion?!" To say that Caelum's embarrassment had turned into outrage was an understatement. The brunette suddenly reached for the sword on his left side, drawing it from its sheath and pointing it directly at Ookami with a clear anger in his eyes. "I'll cut out your tongue, you knave!"
||Sreams and anger spilled out of the boy's mouth. Was this really all because of one simple little nickname? It only came to Ookami because he couldn't really grasp the name he was given and thought it was a "cute" nickname for the guy. Guess it wasn't as he was having a sword pulled out on him to which he raised his hands up in surrender at the sight of it and taking a few steps back.
"Whoa whoa whoa hold on! No need to start spilling blood over a simple name alright?!" He apologized, still ready to sidestep the man should he still be angry enough to swing. It was a chance he had to prepare for because he seemed serious about and one that Ookami would take advantage of, "Besides a little teasing won't kill you...unless your facing me."
His hands lowered and withdrew his blade and swung at the other man's own sword, attempting to knock it out of his grip by aiming for the hand and use his pure strength to just make him let go of it.

More banter left Ookami's lips, and frankly, Caelum was not amused by any of it. However, instinct took over as he side-stepped just in time to find a blade swinging outward from the other man's side, in which the young man responded with his movements and planted a form block with the side of his own sword, arm bracing the flat facing himself as he cast his blue eyes upon the other with a clear look of disdain. Whether Ookami was looking for a fight or not, it had found him. "Formalities aside, I hereby challenge you to a duel, you cur!" The young prince thrust his arms in order to throw Ookami off balance, soon spinning on his pivoting foot whilst swing his sword downward towards the man with the rotation of his spin for a little extra force in body weight.
The other man had some pretty good reflexes as Ookami's own strike was bounced off of his blade. The blonde could only bring his sword arm back and take a few steps back while using his blade's flat side to block the thrust away from him and then bring it up to stop the swing from coming down onto his shoulder. Even with the added weight Ookami had a bit more brute strength if their differing physique were anything to go by. However raw power was not how Ookami managed to survive with this many scars covering his body after all, one had to be tactful in battle.
"Not bad little "Maria" but ya too ol fashion ya'know!" He lifted his arms up to push the man's sword above their heads while still holding it and in a flash he would have found Ookami's boot shoved right into his chest as it was brought up to push him away in the most rough way possible as Ookami broke the stalemate and took a few more steps back to gain some distance.

Caelum's strike was blocked due to Ookami's reactions, the pair finding themselves in a temporary draw for the time being. However, the man had thrown the prince's blade off balance before delivering a swift boot to his torso, effectively forcing the young man to tumble backward. Thanks to his own reflexes however, Caelum was able to dig a palm down into the earth before springing himself back to his feet, taking sword in both hands and positioning it perpendicularly to his body as he took his stance.
"Not bad little "Maria" but ya too ol fashion ya'know!"
There it was again! The damned knave was calling him "Maria" again! A growl escaped Caelum's lips as he charged forward, this time moving himself swiftly side-to-side in an effort to take advantage of his speed. He'd always been much faster than most, including members of the royal military, and had yet to meet someone who could properly match him. Ookami had quipped about Caelum being old-fashioned. Perhaps he'd change his mind when the prince switched things up a bit? Upon nearing the man who dared make a mockery of him, Caelum slid his body while rotating in an attempt to sweep his legs out, following up with a swing of his sword which he'd briefly tossed to catch it in a reverse grip. He'd make sure that Ookami would not walk away thinking the prince as some push-over. Not after all the days he'd poured into his training and on the front lines!
His strike seemed to prove effective as he watched the man sail across the dirt and then catch himself from letting the rough ground scar him any more. It was enough to put a smirk on Ookami's face. However the smirk disappeared as he was not prepared for the counterattack to come so quickly as it did. He was sure he knocked some wind out of the boy and yet it seemed like he managed to catch a second breeze as he jumped at Ookami swinging his blade right at him. Unguarded and not quick enough to register a decent enough counter Ookami held back a yelp of pain as he saw the flash of metal for only a second.
Pearly whites gritted against one another as a scream was held back when Ookami felt steel cut into his flesh as red glazed the tip of the blade of his foe. His body acted on instinct but the purity of it was not as fast as the boy and he managed to get a cut into Ookami's side. His steps were littered with staggering as he put more distance between him and the other male while holding his side with a hand to stop the bleeding, yet his face didn't show someone in pain, it did but not entirely anyway. No he was grinning and growling under his breath as he pointed his sword at Lumaria. "Okay, good shot but that is all you're getting. Hope you savor it."
He charged forward while lowering his sword arm so that as he got closer he swung in a powerfully thin arc from his feet, steel aiming for the lower body of his opponent and heading up to his shoulder. If little "Maria" made a cut then Ookami was going for a gash.
