PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION:
Back when he was young and before became a chieftain, Ehrandil was grim and cold to anyone he met. Furthermore he was not sociable and often kept himself away from the crowd but that changed when he became a member of Coalition. After he became a chieftain and came through several hardships and sufferings, Ehrandil became more mature and open-minded individual more than before. He took his duty as a chieftain as well as house lord of Vaillant but he also wise and stalwart leader who earned respect and reverence from his clan and the House of Vaillant, some of the old Waystriders began to match him with his late father's image and personality.
Ehrandil mostly solved problems and conflicts through diplomacy, weapons and armed conflicts were his last resorts in case if things went south. However when dealing with corrupted and vile individuals or old enemies, Ehrandil would either deal with them by showing his scowl look or violence if provoked. Even though he became more calmer than before, Ehrandil's temper still lingered in him and if he was already reached his patience's limits, he let his anger got the best of him.
After what happened in Hyrule few years ago, Ehrandil's personality changed drastically. He witnessed the death of his clansmen and Helia, his beloved during their defense for Queen Zelda against rebels, he became more lonely, distant and solemn. The death of Helia struck him hard, Ehrandil completely lost his will and determination to fight which was one of the main reason that why he used diplomacy over blades. He was cynical and pessimistic about retaking Hyrule, Ehrandil even blamed Zelda's fault because she failed her duty as a ruler of Hyrule, the loss of the kingdom as well as the death of his clansmen and Helia who died defending Hyrule Castle during the Civil War. Sometimes he resorted to alcohol drinks when he remembered the faces of the deceased ones.
Even though Ehrandil resented her, there was still a deep sense of loyalty and faithfulness towards to his former Queen. Sometimes he wondered himself that was there were hope to save Hyrule from the brink of destruction and anarchy, as well as save his friend Link from his prison. He also cared about his old friends and those who fought alongside with him in the past, Ehrandil never forget about friendship. Ehrandil might be lost his will and determination to fight but not courage and valor. His title as "The Chronicler" (which bestowed by a Sage) showed him that he still written and recorded any events he witnessed even tragic ones (like Link's death and vanish of his body) into his books which divided many volumes. Sometimes Ehrandil could be friendly towards to outsiders as long as they did not provoke or made him angry.

HISTORY:
The Waystriders
Long ago, a group of human foreigners known as the Larians arrived at the Land of Hyrule by sea and these foreigners were survivors of the fall of their kingdom Laria which was located far east away from Hyrule. Eventually, these silvered eyes humans settled in the forests which was outskirts of Hyrule Castle Town. To survive in a foreign kingdom, the Larians became foragers and hunters while some (but only few) became traders and merchants. Those who served in the Larian army back then were became rangers of the forests, safeguarding their homes and protecting the other villages from the forces of evil. Since then, the Larians became a clan thus they adopted the name "Waystrider" as their clan's name and a griffon as their clan's symbol. When Hyrule went to war against the forces of demons, the warriors of Waystrider clan volunteered to join the war and with their skills of archery and swordsmanship, the Waystriders managed to defeat the forces of demons but with costs of many lives. Because of their selfless valor, the Waystriders became friends and valuable ally of Hyrule especially the Hylians.
Two centuries later, the Waystriders warred upon with Vankirk, other human clan over a blood feud and caused major damages within the lands of Hyrule. After the incident, the royal family of Hyrule had no choice but banished the Waystriders from the kingdom (This incident resulted in great punishment such as death but the royalty of Hyrule did not forget the Waystriders' service in the past and they were saddened as they decided to banish the clan). After the banishment, the Waystriders became nomads and eventually settled in Woods of Winter within the Lands of Holodrum where they were shunned by the society of Holodrum. The Waystriders kept to themselves and isolated from the society, they lived their lives normally within the Woods of Winter by hunting and foraging thus rarely had contact with outsiders. After a few centuries, the Waystriders were remembered as nothing but myths in the histories of Hyrule but some Hyruleans did not forgotten their heroic deeds. When Holodrum was besieged by an army of goblins, the new generation of Waystrider warriors and rangers came to the kingdom's aid and chased the goblins out from the Lands of Holodrum, the clan were gained the trust of the Holodrum people and royal family. Although they continued their life in seclusion at the Woods of Winter, some of the Waystrider clan members left their village to settle at other places and some pledged their service within the army of Holodrum.
The Son of the Waystriders
Centuries later, a son was born to a Hurin Argonsson, a newly appointed young chieftain of the clan and Mirra, a woman from Holodrum. The son was latter named as Ehrandil by the chieftain and he was raised by his parents in normal life but Mirra passed away due to a serious sickness. At very young age, Ehrandil was trained in combat by his father. Although he was trained in swordsmanship, Ehrandil was gifted in the skills of an archer. The paths of the Waystrider warriors were divided into two; the path of the Swordsman and the path of the Ranger, Ehrandil chosen the path of the Ranger as his choice. In his training as a Ranger, 13 years old Ehrandil learned foraging, tracking and camouflaging from the veteran rangers. Later then, a lone wanderer approached the secluded village of the Waystriders and she revealed herself as Mara, a Hylian wandering mercenary and an old friend of Hurin. The talents of Ehrandil immediately drew Mara's attention and she decided to take him under her wing as an apprentice. At first Hurin was against it but after been persuaded by his fellow clansmen and Mara, the chieftain agreed and saw sense that if Ehrandil was trained by his old friend, Hurin had no doubt that his son will be a better chieftain of the clan in the future. After that, Ehrandil left his home and began his training under Mara thus he was longed to see the outside world.
Life As A Mercenary
Not just the Hylian style archery, Ehrandil learned the language from his teacher. Mara also named Ehrandil as Eradan; one of the two founders of Waystrider clan and a hero who led his clansmen to fight alongside with the Hylians during the war against the demons. As he reached to the age of 17, Ehrandil learned many combat talents from his teacher but he began to talked back against his teacher due to their disagreements with each other. Yearned for more freedom and independence, Ehrandil left his teacher after their heated arguments and decided to travel on his own path. The youth later joined a band of mercenaries and stayed with them for a few years, he became the most trusted lieutenant to the mercenary captain. At the age of 19, Ehrandil and his fellow mercenaries were hired by a noble family and fought in a civil war at Holodrum Plains. Ehrandil became renowned after he defeated a small army of rival noble soldiers in the woods of the Plains with "hit-and-run" tactics. As the civil war reached its end, Ehrandil realized that his captain and fellow mercenaries already began to plundered the villages which supported the rival noble behind his back. After the civil war was over, Ehrandil managed to prevent his fellow mercenaries from plundering a village. Even though the village was saved from being plundered, the mercenary captain banished Ehrandil out from his mercenary band. Before he left, Ehrandil warned the mercenary captain and his former fellow mercenaries that if any of them decided to oppose him in the future, he will kill them without mercy and hesitation. For few years, Ehrandil became a lone mercenary and adventurer thus regretted for left his teacher and failed his clan.
The Search For The Hero
At the age of 21, Ehrandil setted at Lands of Hyrule and made his haven in Hyrule Castle Town. As he rested in an inn, a hooded figure approached him and told him about the tales of the old Waystrider clan, the bloodied war between the Waystriders and the Vankirks thus the banishment of Waystrider clan by the royalty of Hyrule back in the past. Then, the individual told him that the Lands of Hyrule was in danger even though the inhabitants did not realize about it. The individual also told that it was time for Ehrandil to reclaim the honor of his clan, and told him to search for the hero who will save Hyrule and assist him in any troubles. Before Ehrandil could say anything, the hooded figure shined in a bright glow and disappeared right in front of the ranger's eyes. As Ehrandil opened his eyes, he realized that he was sleeping in his seat but the dream was no mere illusions. Believed that the hooded figure might be Sages or any deities of Hyrule, Ehrandil decided that the task which was given to him was a sacred task.
In Princess Zelda's Service
With the help of Saria the Forest Sage, Ehrandil managed to get an audience with Princess Zelda who was the only heir to the throne since the recent passing of her father. Ehrandil later then served in Hyrule army as an archer but he performed many deeds which was not gone unnoticed by the Princess, he earned a place as a royal guard and a trusted ranger captain to Princess Zelda. With a small band of young Waystriders under his command, Ehrandil formed them as a unit called "Grippen Company" and they functioned to safeguard Hyrule from harm and answered to their duties if being called upon. As a representative of the Waystriders, Ehrandil along with Zelda's help, made peace with House of Vaillant which was the descendants of the Vankirks and ended the centuries years old feud. Later, more young Waystriders settled in their ancestral home in the forests of Hyrule after Princess Zelda permitted the clan to return however the old Waystriders including Ehrandil's father politely refused as they got used to live in the Woods of the Winter at Holodrum.
After a month of his service to Zelda, Ehrandil befriended with Link, a Hylian who was joined the army recently and he trained with him until the Ceremony which he was revealed as the Hero whom Ehrandil was looking for. Believed that fate brought him to the Hero, Ehrandil swore to Link that he would do anything to help him even protect him and Zelda with his own very life. When King Galadhion of Labrynna announced publicly about the marriage between Princess Zelda and his son Prince Perseus, Ehrandil visibly angered because he understood that there were affinity between Zelda and Link furthermore if Zelda did not comply with the marriage, Galadhion would executed Link. The Waystrider could not hold his anger any longer, Ehrandil confronted and challenged Galadhion in a duel to fight for his Princess's happiness and Link's life. The King of Labrynna accepted and the duel was taken outside at the courtyard of Hyrule Castle. Even though with his combat experience, Ehrandil realized that Galadhion was more skilled swordsman and he lost the duel and deeply wounded. Due to his heavy injuries, Ehrandil passed out for days and he was tended by Helia, a lady knight and house lady of Vaillant who became friend with Ehrandil upon their first met and had deep affection towards him secretly. When he woke up from his coma, Ehrandil was disheartened, distraught and crestfallen after he heard that Princess Zelda died in her wedding few days before he woke up. With the emotional support from Helia, Ehrandil set on his journey to look for Link thus the house lady followed him. During their journey throughout the continent, both Ehrandil and the knight became close.
Chieftain of the Waystriders and Member of Coalition
Ehrandil and Helia managed to unite with Link but he never knew that he would met with Prince Perseus who was with the Hero and their relationship were sour as he blamed him for Princess Zelda's death. Due to Galadhion's control over Labrynna and Hyrule, Ehrandil and his friends came to Holodrum but he parted ways with them as he heard that his father was dying on his sickbed. After he arrived and tended to his father, Ehrandil was appointed as the next chieftain of the Waystriders before his father's death. After the funeral pyre of his father, Ehrandil took the mantle of the Waystrider chieftain but he left the authority to the elders as he felt his duty to the Hero was not over. He met with Ashtar who was became the king of Holodrum recently and both of them agreed that they should repair the relationship between the kingdom and the Waystriders. He overheard that the Grippen Company and his people who were settled in the forests of Hyrule were forced out from the kingdom by the orders of Galadhion. Due to the duel at the Ceremony, the Waystriders who served in Labrynna left the kingdom and there were slight confrontations between the Waystriders and soldiers from Labrynna.
Ehrandil reunited with his companions again and he managed to reconcile with Prince Perseus after he finally got over with Zelda's death. When the bridge between the human world and Sacred Realm opened, Ehrandil gathered his Waystriders to join the Coalition's war effort against the raging gods and goddesses. During the chaotic battle, Ehrandil realized that the Sheikah was Zelda in disguise for all along. With determination and courage, Ehrandil and his Waystriders defended the Princess and the Hero from the Gods and Goddesses but majority of his clan members were killed and he was wounded. When the survived Waystriders were in distraught and hopeless demeanor, Ehrandil witnessed the appearance of the Golden Goddesses and they sealed the other gods and goddesses away into the Sacred Realm.
Consequences and The Beginning Of the Ending
At first he thought that the Coalition had won the battle for good but it was worse, the Golden Goddesses punished both Zelda and Link for failing their sacred duties. As for punishment, Zelda's birthright was denounced and the Triforce were shattered thus scattered throughout the world thus Link's lifeless body was vanished right in front of Zelda's and Ehrandil's eyes. He remembered the Hero told him and Helia that if anything happened to him, Link wanted both of them to protect and safeguard Zelda in his stead. After the Golden Goddess departed, Ehrandil lamented the death of his good friend and vowed to kept his promise. After Zelda's coronation as the Queen of Hyrule, Ehrandil and Helia stood by her side as advisors and protectors but the friendship between Ehrandil and Zelda became more strained because the Queen had completely changed, there were even arguments between them. Feared the civil unrest in Hyrule, Ehrandil sent word to the Waystriders who settled other kingdoms that they should not settle back in Hyrule while his loyal Grippen warriors stood with him.
Civil War In Hyrule
At first Ehrandil and Helia cemented their love by marriage but it was put on hold when the civil war broke out in Hyrule, the House of Vaillant remained loyal to the Queen and they were lead by Helia against the rebels. Even with the help from Ehrandil and his Grippen company, the loyalists were defeated. Ehrandil, Helia and the survivors of House Vaillant followed the Grippen Company who were needed at Hyrule Castle. Before the angry mob got through the throne room's door, Ehrandil, Helia and their remaining allies made their last stand to defend their Queen. The mob and rebels got through and the Grippen Company engaged them in fight, the throne room were smeared and stained with blood from both sides, Ehrandil was overwhelmed and knocked down by an angry rebel's blunt weapon after he saw Helia was struck down. Before he passed out, Ehrandil barely saw that his Queen was dragged by the angry mob as they chanted that she was not belonged to Hyrule. After he was recovered, Ehrandil recovered from his unconsciousness and he was put under arrest alongside with his survived clansmen and survivors from House of Vaillant.
The civil war of Hyrule has ended, Ehrandil carried Helia's lifeless body, the survivors of House Vaillant and few of his survived Grippen Company Waystriders along with the bodies of their fallen brethren were led out from Hyrule. Queen Zelda was nowhere to be seen and Ehrandil was gloom as he failed to keep his promise to Link. Ehrandil traveled back to the Woods of the Winter where he buried his beloved. All alone by himself, Ehrandil led his Waystriders and he acted as a house lord to the House of Vaillant (on Helia's stead) for the years to come. Ehrandil also reunited with his teacher who guided and assisted him in his duty as the chieftain and house lord. He also came across a shard of Triforce and he kept it to himself, away from his Waystriders and House of Vaillant.
Present Day
The relationship between the Waystriders with Holodrum and Labrynna improved greatly because of Ehrandil's leadership. Ehrandil became King Ashtar's advisor and with his help, the survivors of House Vaillant settled in Holodrum and assist the king in several matters which mostly involved military affairs. Even though both King Ashtar and Perseus supported Queen Zelda in her cause, Ehrandil was not sure about deciding supporting her or not thus he hold a council of his clan and House of Vaillant to discussing about it in Holodrum. Due to disagreements between everyone in the council, Ehrandil dismissed them and he traveled to pay his respects to Helia's mausoleum in the deep of Woods of Winter. When he arrived at the mausoleum, Ehrandil started to question that should he join and fight for his former Queen like in the old days.
