Gerudo King
TITLE/NICKNAME: The Young King.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION:
Sanguine is a troubled youth, with an uncertain death wish. He believes fate to have mixed things up by making him the heir to the Gerudo, but he struts it off as if no one else could pull it off. Since his birth, the judgmental clan of 'beautiful' Gerudo women have worshiped him as a great and princely legacy! The only male worth true attention. The women, having decorated him in stolen jewels from across the lands would often show great interest in his training and what he was planning for the future, ❝ 'Boy King,' take your pick of us.❞ They'd say to him, having been but a child he never truly understood the emphasis this had, the amount of troubling desire his family sought in him merely because he was of a legendary descent.
It gave him a prideful nature, and a matured growth as time would tell, but as he aged-- more and more of his heart resented the attention and he demanded challenge. He loved his status, and he hated it. Unlike his sisters, his lovers, his clan-- Montoya resembled the Hylian heritage in himself, and adopted their wisdom. But he also picked up on the Gerudo complex within himself too, making him eager, insatiable, and hungry for opportunity. He displayed proficient tactical know how, obscure and unorthodox abilities to read into others, and strategic intentions on the battleground. Unlike the Kings of the past who'd used their birthright to conquer; Sanguine would use his to trade and create an economic empire out of his 'all-woman' nation.
Sanguine should've adopted the passion for strength and a vision for power, very early on, but he wanted to do things differently, leading him to value wisdom as a better quality. But wisdom wasn't what best described him. As said earlier; Sanguine often dared Death to meet him wherever he went. He was a child of Courage; and proved it constantly. When Sanguine Montoya was only twelve years old, he scaled mountains alone, and often jumped from high places hoping to get a rush, a taste, a jolt, of what it felt like to refuse dying. The women around him, having deemed this a coming of age rite for the future legendary son, bowed to him after every one of his near suicidal episodes. Kissing at his feet, and showing him that what he was doing was pushing himself to his limits, and they were proud of that. He was twelve years old when he broke both legs for the first time, and yet, he still stood up on them. To say he bit back the pain was an understatement, he literally chewed it down. Showing that he was willing to make self-sacrifice in exchange for experience.
The Gerudo King is rumored to have broken every bone in his body on more than one occasion, but is touted to have never complained in his life. He could very well be insane, brave, or a cross-bred mix of the two. It's all up to personal opinion really. Sanguine lives in self-doubt and inner reprise of his questionable nature. Sanguine desperately searches for a meaning to his existence other than just, "You are the King." He wishes he'd been born a commoner or something more fitting, but alas, destiny afflicted him with responsibility. For that he presses onward, attempting to establish his kingdom as honorable, perhaps righteous even-- which goes against his common knack for pick-pocketing strangers or ambassadors who address him in person.
LIKES:
Riches: Sanguine is a crook, a cheater, a card shark by nature, he might be a good-hearted soul, sure, but he'll still rob your wallet dry and kick you to the curb if you become dead weight. Sanguine doesn't carry others on his back, he lets them to tunnel their own paths and sticks close to them as help. But if they can't carry their own weight-- then why would he waste his time trying to benefit them? Answer: He wouldn't.
Hard Candy: Sanguine is addicted-- sometimes he will go out traveling simply to try off foreign flavors. Suckers are his favorite, but he'll eat just about any, so long as he can trust it.
Nemean: The love of his life, his best friend, and the only creature Sanguine can really relate too. Nemean is a mighty lion, and is still youthful and young, but due to the shard magic, it's growth was excelled and it's mind synchronized with San's. Despite being two people, they are in some speculation, the same as well. The cub-- the warrior-- the engine.
DISLIKES:
Lies: It's okay to lie, and The King understands that. Nonetheless-- being lied too. That's a no-no. The King takes it as a personal insult to be deceived and will immediately show distaste in someone if he catches them in a fib of any kind.
Cockiness: Being arrogant isn't so much something he hates, but it isn't a quality he approves of. Therefore he could grow to resent those who are overconfident.
Aloofness: Often times it happens to himself too, but being aloof can sometimes bother Sanguine, and Mr. Montoya knows that it's informal to be withdrawn from reality.
MOTIVATIONS:
Fuel The Flames: The boy knows, and prays even, that the world goes up in flames because of him. Not in a destructive way necessarily. But he wants to know his importance is a necessity and he wishes to bask in all the chaos caused by him having switched his country from an evil organization to one that sides with his original enemy.
World Superpowers: This is about more than just Sanguine's name hitting the history books, he wants the Gerudo to become an economic power in the world and for them to make new profits out of their resources versus having to thieve like they did in the past millenniums.
Change of Heart: Sanguine wants the Gerudo to erase their sins and atone for them in doing right by the world. It's unknown whether he will ever flip the lid but due to his sense of loyalty-- such a thing would require a great event. 'Til then, Sanguine's goal is to do justice by the Gerudo. "Be the Fair King..."
FEARS:
Betrayal: Sanguine fears waking up to a world where he's been abandoned, cucked out of his wealth, his kingdom, and his women. He will go to great lengths in order to instill his importance to his allies, in addition, he gives loyalty to others and it'd sure rustle his jimmies if they didn't do the same. Betrayal is enough to make Sanguine content with murdering someone. Which he'll make a personal mission should that need to happen.
Failure: Sanguine is a perfectionist, and when things don't go his way, he becomes significantly more serious. In short, serious might be the wrong word-- 'dark' would be a better way to explain it. The King turns himself over to anger, irritation, frustration, he'll break vases, beat women, all-out attack his advisers, friends, peers, or citizens. Which-- seeing how this is against his usual nature, will obviously make him come off the wrong way. He fears allowing his negative emotions to flood out and suspects himself a capable murderer when he does enter these fits of anger. All the results of failure which don't necessarily have to be his own, but can be those who work under him as well.
Impeachment: It's always plagued the young king that his people would turn against him and pull a Julius Caesar if they didn't agree with all of his sudden changes. Especially considering their last King was so much different compared to the new heir. This has created reasonable paranoia in him over the years.
HISTORY:
Sanguine was born in what was usually a hot, humid, empty desert; in the presence of four women; excluding his mother of course. What was special about the day of his birth, wasn't just that he was the first baby boy to be brought into the Gerudo clan in a hundred years. But also the miracle of rain. They say it hadn't rained all year-- and that day, it was the hottest it'd been in decades, yet despite all of that, when his mother's water broke, clouds formed across the tinted sky. Thunderbolts erupted as she screamed her pain and was treated by her clanswomen, but there wasn't much they could do besides support her. Then finally, it began raining, just as the cries of a child were heard in the tiny tent. It started drizzling. Soon enough it would start pouring down, and so it did. It rained for two weeks straight. Blessing the lands.
His mother was happy to have bared through with such struggles in order to bring the chosen one to this world. But-- as tradition, she had to give her son to the clan, and as per rites, Sanguine was never to be told which was his mother. Instead he'd be raised by every member, taught trades from across all edges of the globe. Many picked up on his light skin, but unlike all the men they detested from other races, the Gerudo were in love with him. Their adoration grew to annoy the King upon his aging though. The boy entered something of an enlightenment in his childlike years, an epiphany of sorts. He grew obsessed with suicidal tests of courage. The Gerudo women had never seen a King abandon his hunger for power in exchange for the passage of courage. They would all gather to see his tasks fulfilled. What should've scared grown men-- he looked right in the eyes. Baiting Death to peak at him from across the realms. But his will to persevere, to survive, that was what kept him going.
It always kept him going. Upon enter the teen ages, he was pursued by his clanswomen, and he never argued with their chases. Welcoming them to his bed in open arms, which could've been controversial considering he was not yet eighteen when it had began. But as King, no one could really say anything against him. His attention was more on that of world order and policies anyways. Things were a mess in the nations' and he told himself, personally, he'd change his people in a way which promised to end this chaos, at least for the Gerudo in specific. Perhaps... Cause more of it for others if that was what called for his own justice, beat fire with fire. He requested a meeting with Zelda and the two became allies, forming the first ever treaty between his people with her 'Heroes of Hyrule.' Sanguine Montoya adored the woman, and decided right away he'd change her opinions on his empire. The Esteemed Lord started trading negotiations with other minor countries, and began new infrastructure and adaptations of technology.
Soon enough large buildings popped up in Oasises across the desert. While still considered a third-world country, it's well on it's way to becoming a world-power. If successful, Sanguine believes his bandit clan will be able to put down stealing and instead build it's own militia of an all-woman army. If he's successful there, he can begin helping Zelda lead attacks on their enemies. Though-- he is unsure how exactly his women will react to his negotiations with their past rivals. For that very reason, he keeps his attention trained on his own affairs more often than others, and is only consulted by 'The Heroes of Hyrule,' when they really need it. Sanguine obtained a Triforce piece of Courage from the Queen before him. Despite her having one of every type offered to him, the others were traded off prior to meeting Zelda, and agreeing to partake in her hunt for all the remaining pieces.
A small lion cub accompanies San, it's family was lost and so the two imprinted on each other. The cub will someday be a large animal, and Sanguine believes in it's strength. He named the lion Nemean, and the two would grow together; and eventually become a powerful duo...
APPEARANCE
HEIGHT: 5'10
WEIGHT: 190 lbs.
APPEARANCE DESCRIPTION:
Sanguine Montoya is a tall, athletic, but lanky boy. His muscles are toned and shaped accordingly, but hidden under dark and un-kingly-like clothes. Sanguine is fitted nicely in his own skin with a perfect six-pack, strong calves-- second only to his upper body. But he doesn't let many know of this, choosing to come off weaker than what he really is. As mentioned earlier, When the king is back back home he'll wear more expensive attires than he usually does, as he adores all colors and will decorate himself in many different ones governing the color pallet, though his main colors of choice tend to feature white on top of orange-red, shades of greens, blues, and purples.
Like the seasons themselves, his preference will change depending upon how he's feeling. Over time, as his resentment for being above others' has increased, so too, has his need for the extravagant kingly things in life. Most of his outfit resembles that of a common thief, or a lowly bandit. The male's eyes are a glowing green and his hair is a fiery orange, due to his father's genes-- Sanguine is white in appearance. Resembling very little of his clan's appearance. So unlike his nation's complexion, he can blend into crowds much easier and thus rob them in a very easier way. The boy wears golden necklaces, sometimes similar to Egyptian chokers, golden earrings. Ruby, sapphire, and jade rings across his knuckles, and expensive beads from other lands. But only after obtaining them via his travels and not for very long. They're soon sold at traveling stores across the land, but it's worth mentioning that he does indeed fancy expensive things for the times he does treat himself.
The King's beads are long and flowing, which are wrapped under his clothing and can be used for combat purposes. Sanguine is able to make use of these beads by gripping even sharp steel and 'knotting it' per say, His hands too are a favored weapon that he'll use when needed, which are kept under black gloves. His fingernails are different from that of the usual human's, for one, upon wearing his gloves they become sharpened like that knives and do not break under tight pressure. A long robed cloak is what covers Montoya's leather armor, his left shoulder has a single shoulder plate, and for appearance sake, he wears a headband over his face-- attributing to the classic bandit look. Kept on the King's back, at the waist typically, is whatever weaponry he's currently carrying.

Arcane: Unhinged Beast
The user focuses his magic into another medium, however unlike a weapon, he chooses to use it to augment his skin. His magic will bless abilities onto his physical body, aide it in combat, heal it, and even over time-- make it stronger by feeding it more shards. A few examples of what it might do, would give him immunities to immobilizing powers, boost his physical stats, and ultimately allow him to project raw energy outside of the body instead of inside it.
Sanguine's body undergoes a change from being mostly human to that of devil-like, his eyes dilate and change. His body glows eerily, and his teeth sharpen. Colors of varying shades circulate him, and the power augmenting his flesh can used with deadly force to attack or to bolster respectively. Stamina in combat is bent for the wielder, granting them not only tolerance to pain, but physical defense to match it. Swords cannot outright penetrate, and it takes more than a dozen strikes to the neck to sever it from the body.
He can passively trigger this appearance on: Upon doing so, he can then use his spells. It can be forced on by emotional manipulation or even anger via the opposition or death of loved ones.
