It all seemed like a dream to Marik, all of it. He could somewhat remember what had just happened but it all seemed so far away as if it were a painting being washed away by water as Marik was surrounded by darkness, much like he had been for quite some time. Marik whom had been fused with Seith had been blasted away by the Old Gods essentially separating Marik and Seith from each other, a process that was certainly not a pleasant feeling. It was at that moment that Marik's innate ability seemed to activate itself, something that had been apart of him, powers hidden deep within him that he himself had no idea about. Marik sent himself through a time loop, throwing him four years into the future from the moment he had been split from Marik. During the time loop Marik had passed out and his body landed somewhere deep within the Lost Woods, ideal for someone who has lost some of his memory as well as being thrown into the future a little bit. He laid there for most of the day unconscious with a new face by his side, something that had appeared perhaps by chance of fate? It was a red Fairy by the name of Compa who would become Marik's new companion. Compa floated around Marik the entire time that he was out cold, warding off any animals that might try to see if Marik was even alive or possibly claim him as food, Compa seemed to know and care for Marik's well being despite the fact that the two had yet to meet ever.
Marik looked much older now than he had before he fused with the God of good fortune, Seith. He had been growing and aging at a normal rate despite the fact that his outward appearance had been that of the God that also inhabited his body. Marik's hair which had been relatively navy blue in his younger years had matured into a dark black color with a tint of navy within the sunlight, it was much longer now, going just past his neck in length and his bangs long enough to hand past his eyes and even a bit past his nose at its longest points. Marik was dressed in a simple pair of blue cloth pants, a white cotton shirt and a simple pair of boots. All of this was topped off by a long black cloak with a hood and over that cloak a long strap which held a sword, perhaps a gift that Seith had given Marik as a parting gift. Marik did not know it at this point in time but Seith had crafted it from Leomurg, his twin spears that could pierce any armor or shield that it encountered. Dusk was approaching within the next two hours though because of how dense the trees were within the forest it seemed as if it was getting darker much faster. It was then that Marik's seemingly lifeless body slowly started to move. His hand twitched which startled Compa, causing Compa to float around frantically for a moment as it watched Marik slowly raise a hand to his forehead as he sat up, bringing his head over his eyes and resting his fingers on his forehead as he let out a soft grunt of confusion. 'Where am I?' Marik thought to himself as he opened his eyes and peered through the cracks in his fingers which covered his face, pushing aside his hair with his hand when he had reached it up to his face.
He felt odd, though the feeling was much more than odd because while he didn't feel like himself he also didn't feel like he had for the past long time. His memory felt 'wishy-washy' and he himself felt rather lightheaded. Marik placed both of his hands on the ground behind him and pushed himself just enough to hop up onto his feet and stand up, while he had actually looped himself through time it honestly did feel like the first time he was able to stand in four years. He staggered for a moment as he tried to find his footing. It took him a moment but he quickly gained his focus and footing and now began to take in his surroundings, noticing that he seemed to be in a dense forest, the areas looked relatively familiar to him but he simply couldn't put his finger on it, where he was that is. The next thing that he had noticed startled him though Marik wasn't much of the type of person to flinch so instead he simply stared at the floating red orb which seemed to revolved around him as if inspecting him. The fairy let out a noise which seemed to signal some form of joy, while fairies were able to talk, Compa was a fairy of few words which would compliment the personality of Marik rather well as he himself was also a being of few words. Marik stared for a few short moments before never-minding the orb in front of him, walking off slowly in the other direction as he planned what he would do next, as he could assess he was lost in the woods and night was approaching quickly.

It never changed. While every day that passed seemed like a new breath of fresh air, the tallies marked on the tree were only a reminder of the world that used to be. While the world had been mostly cleansed of the blight that fell over this world when the Goddesses had returned, there was not even a wisp of hope that remained in Aryllia's being. A family torn apart by war, while not the same one, they had similar outcomes. A mother who died because of the disease passed on by foreign invaders. A father who's body went missing when attempting to fend off the monsters lurking in the dungeons nearby. And now, a brother, who fought as valiantly as he could, but how could one truly stop a God when there was not enough time to endure? [break] [break]With a purpose left unfulfilled, Aryllia felt a void. Awakened by her duties as a sage, her sole purpose was to protect the very door that held the golden relic. With that treasure ripped apart, scattered for everyone to greedily pursue, she as well failed in her task. A sister. A child. Herself. Her old self was truly vanished the moment her duties had awoken her. A changed person - once ambitious and kind, hardened by the visions of war, and the destiny that followed. After sitting in solitude for months, left to your own thoughts and the memories of past sages, a shift was surely due. And while some may compare that to maturity, others would compare it to arrogance. [break] [break]After the war had ended, and the chaos ensued within the Castle Town, Aryllia gathered her belongings and made for the forest. It was the one place she knew like the back of her hand - after spending countless hours roaming it when she chose not to meditate, it was the one place she always knew how to navigate... and to avoid others. It wasn't that she no longer cared for her friends, it was that she did not want to protect them. People, food, medicine, walls, everything needed to live. In a town that was falling apart - a royal family uprooted and sent away, it was surely to be lost. What we have other people want too and that will never change. If we survive this threat and it’s not over another one will be back to take its place. To take what we have. [break] [break]She changed everything she could to make sure no one would remember her. She cut all of her hair, changed her wardrobe drastically, and took to the forest. It wasn't lonely though - the fairies that wandered the place seemed to enjoy her presence. In a way, she was a protector - keeping out bandits and anyone who may try to harm it. And while she had often thought of returning to the Temple of Time Ruins, she knew that that was an awful idea. With Zelda's guild now taking refuge in those ruins, it was too much of a risk for her to become recognized. If Zelda had seen her... she didn't want to think about the look on her face. [break] [break]It was another day, and she was alive. No work to do, and enough food to last her the next few nights, she decided to roam the forests to see what she could gather for supplies. So many people got lost so often, they barely noticed when they dropped anything. As she continued to make her way through the forest path, wooden staff in hand, her ears perked as she suddenly heard movement near by. Freezing in her place, she narrowed her eyes, gradually turning her head to look around. There was a shadow in the distant trees, and something felt... off about it. As a sage, she could sense when something was out of balance - especially when something didn't belong where it was. Taking a few steps closer, she approached cautiously. [break] [break]She sprinted around the area carefully, circling around him through the trees - and whether he had heard her or not, her face was untraceable in her movements. Finally, after circling several times as a way of distractions, she jumped down, directly in front of him, only several meters a way as she gripped her staff tightly, a stoic expression glossing over her eyes, as if she was unmoved by his arrival. Still, something was off about this. Why did he seem so familiar? [break] [break]"What is someone like you doing somewhere like this?" she glanced over his attire - he looked like a carriage hit him. His hair unkempt and his cloak disheveled. "Did you get into some kind of fight, or did a guild just kick the hell out of you and drop you off here?" she asked rather assertively. He didn't belong here. He needed to leave.

Marik pressed on through the forest as it began to get darker, he knew that at some point he would have to stop moving foward and simply set up camp, make a fire and call it a night though he was so anxious to find out what had happened, what was going on and where he was that his will to keep pressing on drove him. Marik walked right by the red floating orb without a single word to it, his mind was curious though there were a million other things he was also curious about so he did not make this creature his immediate concern mainly because it in no way shape or form made itself out to be hostile, at least for the moment. Marik hadn't been on any traveled path, the forest floor was covered by brush, tree roots and leaves so he knew that this part of the forest would mostly be inhabited by only animals, he had to watch his steps carefully however because not even he knew what he might encounter. Marik rested his left hand on his sword hilt which rested readily by his side, glancing back behind him for a moment with a single eye to catch a glimpse of the orb following him briskly, it's red fluorescent glow shedding some light upon the already darkening forest around him.
His footsteps were light upon the ground as if he had been trained in the arts of combat and stealth though he wasn't much one for stealth tactics, he was simply the type of fighter that struck very quickly and very deadly, he was a very fast individual and he would soon come to find out that he was so fast that even time was on his side. It took him roughly another thirty minutes of walking around the forest aimlessly until he found himself coming up upon a pathway, he could tell that it was because roots from the ground as well as the dirt was exposed, brush seemed to be attempting to grow over the dirt but most if not all were trampled as if they had been walked over in the recent days prior to his travel. Deciding that using the path would be his best option of finding his way out of the forest or at least finding someone who could tell him where he was, Marik followed the path, presuming that it headed north east though he truly wasn't sure. For a long while all that could be heard was the faint sound of his foot steps crunching on a leaf every few steps or so, the birds of the area and the leaves within the trees being rattled gently by the breeze.
Marik froze suddenly which caused the fairy that kept pace just behind him to bump into the back of his head gently before perching itself on his right shoulder. Marik gave it a gentle glance but then quickly set his eyes in front of him. He kept his hand on the hilt of his sword though his touch to it was majestic and gentle, a much different mannerism than one who was rather inexperienced with the blade or someone who was afraid of what happened next, Marik's ability to handle a sword had once been known as one of the best around, using it in a manner that looked more like a graceful dance than an art of war. Marik could sense something, faint, very faint but he at least had the feeling that he was being watched so he kept his cool, staying where he was in the center of the path simply waiting to see what happened so he could react. Keeping his head still, his eye's darted back and forth in front of him, tracking the movement before him, it was fast and very similar in manner to his own speed. Before long a figure had appeared directly in front of him only a few feet away, the figure appeared feminine in manner as she gripped a staff in her hand, giving him an expressionless look much like his own. It appeared that she too, much like himself, were the type of people whom you simply could not read by looking at their facial expressions, it was actually a rather nice surprise to Marik as opposed to the blatantly obvious people he use to deal with on a day to day basis.
Marik's attire and overall appearance wasn't at it's peak though he'd seen himself in worse condition, he could tell by the movement of the girls eyes that she was making a mental note of how he had looked and before he knew it a comment came from her regarding that very thing. Marik's lips slowly parted, his eye's fixated right at hers in a gaze that was capable of telling a million stories or give away nothing at all except pure expressionless thought. "I woke up like this." Marik said, he let his hand fall off of the hilt of his sword and planted it against his hip as he took a more talkative stature. "I need to know where I am, I must return to Hyrule, I have....important business there...", Marik said with a tone that seemed resolute at first though trailed off into a tone that almost for a second sounded like pure confusion.

Looking over the untidy man, she could see the confusion that had crossed over his face, as though he wasn't completely sure what he was there either. She kept her staff in a defensive grip as she started to scan the area around them, on the off chance that this was all an act and he had others waiting to take her down when she wasn't expecting it. Her face immediately directed back to him when she had then heard him speak. He had woken up that way. Her eyes narrowed as her head tilted slightly, watching the little red fairy slowly float around him. [break] [break]"That fairy seems to like you," she murmured to herself. She scanned over him once more, as if trying to find the reason as to why he seemed so misplaced in this area. She couldn't let go of the feeling that he just didn't belong. Then he spoke of Hyrule, and that's truly what caught her attention. She straightened herself a bit, moving her staff back slightly as she now crossed her arms, looking up to the sky just past the trees that hid the golden glow of the sunset. It was getting late, and they were a ways away from Castle Town. It'd at least take a day on foot. [break] [break]"If you're meaning the actual Kingdom, you're already here," she spoke in a matter-of-fact tone. "But if you're trying to get to the city, I've got some bad news for you." she shrugged, pointing toward the setting sun. It was way too late for him to be worrying about getting somewhere like that. Suddenly, it hit her though - something seemed off about how he spoke about Castle Town. The confusion in his voice, as if he hasn't been there yet and was truly lost. Was he really that out of the loop? [break] [break]"Have you not been there yet?" she asked in disbelief. "Honestly, do you know what people would do to you with a nice sword like that, and an untidy attire? You'd get ripped apart. The guilds don't take kindly to strangers, especially strangers that give off an aura such as yourself. The triforce shards changed people, they're too innate in their greed," she sighed. If he truly wasn't around here he wouldn't last for the night. That honestly was unfortunate for him, but she couldn't risk her own camp if this was all as trick. That fairy trusts him though, she kept thinking to herself. Surely that meant something? Fairies were very intelligent, and they were not known to tether themselves to adults unless they truly felt an importance before them. [break] [break]She sighed, rolling her eyes slightly as she started to slowly turn around, pulling her hand forward and motioning for him to follow. "It's getting dark, and you are obviously weakened. You won't survive long out here, so stay close and follow me," her voice gave the tiniest grit of annoyance.

Marik could tell that the girl before him was weary of her surroundings, it seemed as if she was scanning the surrounding area to see if there was anyone else accompanying him other than the fairy that rested upon his shoulder. Compa lifted off of his shoulder and began to do revolutions around him slowly as if it were bored and simply wanted to wander around a bit, Marik watched the girls eyes as she followed the fairies movements. Moments later he heard a comment escape her lips pertaining to the fairy, noting under her breath that the fairy seemed to have taken some sort of liking to him despite his blatant attempts to pretend like it wasn't even there so far. Marik's lips parted once more, speaking in a quite tone similar in manner to the girl, making a simple note, "Ah right, I'm not exactly sure why I couldn't tell it was a fairy but now that you mention it, it should have been rather obvious to me." The girl moved her staff back and crossed her arms, positioning herself in a less defensive manner though she did cross her arms, body language of that manner usually meant that the person was still being somewhat protective of themselves.
She spoke of Hyrule in terms of the kingdom itself, letting him know that he was indeed within the Kingdom of Hyrule but she then spoke of some bad news that she had to offer him. "Well I guess my assumptions that I was within the Kingdom of Hyrule were correct but yes I did indeed mean the city. It's a place I once protected with my life." Marik said, his face still expressionless but it was at that moment that thoughts shot through his mind, visions of himself being locked up within his own quarters in the castle as the blight of Seith had just only begun to take hold of him, a dark time indeed for someone to randomly remember as if it weren't a recent event to him. "You have no need to concern yourself with what would happen to me within the city, I am very much so capable of holding my own against multiple opponents, I was once hailed as one of the best Swordsman to come out of Hyrule." Marik said in a rather 'sure of himself' tone though it wasn't exactly in a cocky manner. It was certainly true that Marik's skill with a sword was one that was once and still should be greatly revered, instead of his tone coming off as someone who enjoys boasting about their skills, it came out more in a way that would let on to anyone that heard that he had certainly been forced into situations where he did indeed have to take on multiple opponents by himself and made it out alive.
Once the girl had mentioned the shards of the Triforce, Marik reached within his cloak into his pocket and produced a shard of the Triforce of power, holding it in his palm inches away from his body, he did not fear that she may try to take it from him because he felt that he should be fast enough to simply pull his hand away and close it if she would try to snatch it from him. Before he knew it the girl let out a sigh of breath and began to turn her body slowly, stretching out a hand to motion to him to follow her. Marik kept his eye's on her back as he put one foot slowly in front of the other as he began to follow her. "I can assure you that I require no form of personal protection as well as the fact that I'm not quite sure why you wish to help out a complete stranger but I cannot help but offer you some form of thanks for your gesture." Marik said in a soft tone, he wasn't trying to be rude but he really did find it a very 'out of the way' thing for a girl like herself to help out someone she had just met. Despite what Marik said, he stayed on her heels as he watched Compa fly past his head and begin to fly revolutions not only around Marik himself but the girl in front of him as well as if Compa were excited or curious, Compa would stop ever few moments as if inspecting the girl.

A swordsman from Hyrule, huh? She couldn't help but wonder in curiosity what exactly that meant. Still, she made note to hold her tongue for more personal conversation until they arrived at camp. He still seemed not to understand though - had he not been to Hyrule in quite some time? But judging by the shard that she had noticed poked from the palm of his hand... he had some kind of power within him. Perhaps that was the feeling she could sense... but then she would sense it from her own self too, wouldn't she? [break] [break]"How long have you been away from the Kingdom? You speak of it as if it is not in the state of chaos it now represents," she explained. "That place is not worth protecting anymore. The Royal family was removed about four years ago, now taking refuge somewhere deep in these very forests. Things have inevitably changed since the failure of the hero," her voice tightened a bit at the last part of the sentence. "Hyrule is overrun by thieves and guilds now. I would stay weary of it if you are not familiar with the crowd. If you would like, I can accompany you on your journey there. Most people know not to cause trouble if I'm on business," she nodded. [break] [break]Turning round a bend in the path, they arrived to where a glimmering light was appearing through a few trees. Pushing stray branches that fell low out of the way, she crouched down where a wooden hut, with cloth draping over the door and windows stood. A fireplace just outside of it was glistening, creating twirls and twists in the lighting reflecting off the trees. "I have business in Hyrule anyways, and from here, it will take about a day to get to the front gates. If we leave at dawn, we should arrive sometime around midnight if we don't stop." [break] [break]After taking a seat by the fire, she put her hands up against the flames for warmth as she occasionally glanced at the man cautiously. The glow of the fairy still had not left his side. It was so strange to her. "So what do they call you?" she asked. "If you're as good of a swordsman as you say, I'm sure I've heard your name before when the city was once full of life." She herself, was a nobody before the war had started, but because her brother was in the guard, she had heard all sorts of stories.

"Im not really sure how long I've been away...", he spoke softly into the night as he followed the girl he had just met. He had waited until she had completely finished talking before responding as he followed closely behind her. Eventually they had come upon a small wooden hut that Marik assume she had been calling home for quite some time by the looks of it. She had mentioned that if he wishes for her to take him there that she'd accompany him as she herself had business in Hyrule as well which Marik found rather interesting seeing as what he could infer was that she was living in the woods for a good amount of time. Marik entered the hut after her and sat near the fire adjacent to her, taking off the strap which held his sword and laying it beside him on the ground keeping it close in case he would need it. Compa had also been following the two, floating its way into the hut also and making itself right at home near the fire as it floated around the tips of the flames as if it were an ember itself. The two sat in silence for a moment as Marik simply studied Compa and its actions, wondering if perhaps the fairy had some sort of affinity for fire. It wasn't long before the girls curiosity about him continued, inquiring what people called him, she was right in the fact that given the way he had been talking, if he was anyone within the swordsmanship masters of Hyrule then she surely would have heard of him.
Marik's lips parted as he began to make the sound of an 's' before pausing extremely quickly, what had instantly come to his mind, the name that he had been called last he could remember aside from him own actual name which came to mind second, Seith. Marik cleared his throat and began to speak once more, "I was a Captain of the Guard once in Hyrule though that was quite some time ago. I am actually not of this land though people call me Marik. There isn't much I could tell you honestly though, my memory is extremely hazy as of lately so im finding it very hard to remember what happened to me or why I simply woke up in the middle of the forest." Marik undid the collar-like clasps which held his black cloak around his neck and folded it up in his lap, placing it on the ground beside him on top of his sword. "Since you now know my name, what is yours?" Marik inquired, he had to admit to himself that it was somewhat intriguing that a complete stranger like herself was offering someone whom they had only just met in the woods less than a few hours ago such hospitality especially when he could tell how weary she was being whether she thought he noticed or not.
"I suppose it would be better for me to not travel alone seeing as im still regaining my bearings on the world after the weird things that have been happening to me lately. Since you have business in Hyrule yourself I accept your offer to accompany me on my way there though if you don't mind me asking, what sort of business do you have in Hyrule?" Marik said, locking his eyes with hers as he rest his hands on his knees, sitting Indian-style on the ground. Marik's gaze upon her was all but plain except for his eyes, in their current state they were rather normal in terms of the eyes of any person though they themselves held dormant power and those perceptive enough could look into them and feel the power within. Looking into his eyes gave those that gazed long enough the feeling of looking into the deep blue sea, staring out to the crashing waves of the sea of storms which, one thing that Marik certainly remembers, as something dangerous yet serene and majestic as well.

Aryllia couldn't help but feel a sudden concern for the man's well being. Him not knowing how long he was truly away didn't sit right with her, as her brow raised slightly as she turned to look at him more carefully. "Are you sure that you're alright?" she asked. "If your memory is that faded, then something really serious might have happened to you. Maybe you should see a doctor when we get to Hyrule." It was his choice in the end, but having such spaced memories wasn't exactly normal. It wasn't as if you could simply blink four years and not remember it. [break] [break]Going into her basket that was near her seat by the fire, Aryllia pulled out two rolls that she had made earlier in the week, handing one to him. As she bit into hers, she listened carefully to what he had to say, her teeth sinking into the bread as she suddenly froze, her pupils slowly focusing on him. Why does that name sound so familiar? Sure, captain of the guard was a big role, but... something didn't sit right with the name Marik. She quickly shook it off, not wanting to make it obvious that his name rang some sort of a bell. [break] [break]He asked her for her name, and she didn't want to say. Most people knew who she was now, it seemed like. The hero boy's sister. The sister. She had no true identity when people only compared her to their expectations in her sibling. There were surely to be people who would announce her when they got to Hyrule though, so she sighed, closing her eyes as she shrugged. "I'm Aryllia." [break] [break]She listened to him speak of accepting her company on the journey to Hyrule, as she finished her roll and wiped her mouth with a small cloth. When he had then inquired on her business, she looked back at him, noticing that he was now staring directly into her eyes. She looked away quickly, feeling a bit of discomfort. It was one of her anxieties in a way - looking into the eyes made you vulnerable. She had no issues with doing it on her own accord, but when its unexpected, it's uncomfortable. "I have to turn in a contract to receive my pay," she replied.

Marik was surprised at her sudden honest concern for his well-being, this was something that affected him deep inside because for what he could remember it had been a long time since anyone had ever had any concerns for Marik himself even when he wasn't entirely himself. Most of the memories were distant but he had already gotten a flashback of himself when he was the Captain of the Guard of Hyrule and how his accomplishments at a young age seemed to fall to the wayside while everyone seemed to concerned about this Hero, the one annoyance that had ever bothered Marik. It wasn't that he was jealous of the Hero and wished to take his place but he knew the truth behind it all, all the tiny details that most people didn't know, or at least he did at one point know. "I think it would perhaps be best if I didn't see a doctor when we get to Hyrule, I've made it this far haven't I?" Marik said with a somewhat 'happy-go-lucky' tone in his voice which was very uncharacteristic mostly because at this point even he didn't know what all he had made it through to this point.
As she sat there and listened to him, the two sitting in the hut adjacent from one another, visible only by campfire-light, Marik was handed a loaf of bread that appeared to be home-made. He took it in his hands appreciatively, giving her a nod of acknowledgement before biting into his food. It wasn't until he had began eating that he would realize how hungry he had actually been and how good the bread tasted especially in that moment. As he ate she spoke her name, 'Aryllia', a name that had sounded somewhat familiar though he certainly wouldn't be able to put his finger on it. "Thanks for the food then, Aryllia." Marik said. While his face didn't really express it, he did like the way that it sounded. They continued to talk about their trip to Hyrule and what she had needed to do while they were there, "A contract huh? What sort of contracts do they have? Who pays out for these contracts? This is a concept that's rather new to me honestly." Marik's confusion really only stemmed from the fact that back in the time where Marik was really actually Marik, it felt as if he was the one giving out 'contracts' to his soldiers and they'd do said tasks, even Marik himself would though the Kingdom of Hyrule paid out to the soldiers.

When Marik had made the decision to avoid seeking medical assistance, she looked at him for a moment while trying to understand why he felt he should. Sure, he was fine for right now, but the entire state of their meeting, and the way he spoke of his wavy memories... wouldn't that have been the best option? She shrugged it off, warming her hands by the fire. "I guess that's your choice then. If something happens, I don't have the knowledge to help, so..." she trailed off. [break] [break]Aryllia didn't have much to say, feeling a slight rift between their conversations, as though there was something off about the air. She wasn't much for conversation, and the last thing she wanted was for him to become attached since she was now the only person he seemed to know. Whatever he was looking for in Hyrule, was most likely gone. She was more of a lone wolf, and the thought of having another person to keep track of was rather draining. Looking back at the ways of war, being unable to help, even when she had the power, and seeing Link's chest pierced with a weapon-- [break] [break]SLAM! Aryllia had forced her flagon of ail to the ground, her eyes looking into the fire as her lips tightened. Her flower shaped hood created shadows along her face, covering her eyes from Marik's vision as she breathed in deeply. "A contract is a confidential agreement made between an employer and servant. They want something done, I get it done. I bring back the proof, they give me my pay," she spoke rather lowly. This particular contract was to search for any evidence of a loved one gone missing in the woods. She had hoped to have found them alive to make things easy and return them, but when she stumbled across their body, she didn't quite know what to do. She took their necklace as proof of her find, as well as coordinates if they wanted to retrieve her, but that was as far as she was willing to go. [break] [break]"Are you prepared to deal with the loss?" she finally asked after a long, lingering silence. "If you go to Hyrule, and cannot find what you seek. If it has been destroyed, removed, or otherwise does not exist... are you prepared to move on from it?" she looked over at him rather seriously.

Marik could somewhat tell of her concerns for his mental state but he knew that eventually he'd be fine, his memory was simply piecing itself back together. Marik had fused with a being beyond mortality who had split himself into several shards and pulled himself back together and brought himself back into reality from the toughest prison ever created and then promptly split apart once more leaving only Marik left, this indeed would take it's ravenous toll upon a mortals body even if he was blessed by Din herself, lesser men would have died in his situation and many people did think that Marik had died from his separation with Seith as he had simply vanished right after it happened, perhaps assumed that he had been completely obliterated by the Old Gods power. "Im sure you'll find a way to help me if need be, Aryllia." Marik said in a low tone, offering some hope for the girl. Thing got quiet for a few moments, the silence would have been awkward for them, at least for him if he hadn't already felt so comfortable in silence, Marik wasn't the type of person where he needed constant words being exchanged with present company for him to feel comfortable within someones presence, to him it was more about simply being there with that person despite the fact that there were few people he truly enjoyed being within the presence of.
She spoke about the contract that she had, explaining the process and how it worked to him. It did seem like a stupid question in a sort of manner but Marik wanted to know what the sort of 'way of the world' was now seeing as he was clearly not in the same place he had been before, Aryllia might not have noticed this but he certainly did he just wasn't exactly sure how yet. "The loss you say? Hm. Well to be honest with you I feel like i'm on some sort of personal mission. A mission to piece myself back together and become who I was before. If I don't find what I seek in Hyrule then I will find a new purpose, a new means to make myself whole again." Marik paused for a moment, taking in all that he had said as well as what she had said as well. He thought for a brief moment and then began to speak again. "I don't think goals, especially something you know you must do isn't something that you should simply move on from especially if it fails. Failure is only natural within the process of attempts and I certainly will not simply give up or move on just because of one failure", Marik said as he continued to look at her despite her hood casting shadows upon her face.
While he had no idea what was in store for them when they would arrive in Hyrule, Marik was internally excited in his own way for what was to come. Marik had many memories to regain and much to learn about the current state of Hyrule and while he didn't actually have a specific goal at the time he knew that he would eventually come to find it within the hearts and minds of the people as well as his own. He would eventually come to discover what it was that he was striving to do before that very moment and perhaps even improve on the method which he had once taken as a means to achieve a certain goal. He took several more bites of the bread, enjoying his meal quietly by the fire with her before finishing the last of his piece. Marik folded his hands in his lap and cleared his throat, "There is one thing that I do remember though, about my home, my family and my parents. Before I Was sent across the Sea of Storms, a journey that a young one like myself at the time feared greatly, my father offered me words of comfort or rather I found them comforting at least. He said to me, 'There is nothing to fear but fear itself', those are certainly words I find solace in." Marik said as his voice trailed off into the night.

Listening to what he had to say, she nodded as she continued to sip at her flagon. He began talking of failure and moving past it, and she thought of her own personal struggles. Her entire life, she was incredibly poor, not knowing where she'd end up if she couldn't make enough money. Once Link had left home and moved into the barracks, the struggle became much more of a reality, since she was the sole one making ends meet for herself. She was constantly living in debt to everyone, wanting to make sure that she always paid back what she was given. [break] [break]It resonated with her for a moment, thinking of how far she had come... despite it piggybacking off the failure of others. Her own brother, while in good intention to bring the goddesses to stop the evil that smothered the land, had ultimately created more chaos in the process. He had failed. Was there any retribution for him if he were to ever return? There's no possible way he could come back, she consistently told herself. Why did she worry herself of such trivial things? [break] [break]It truly was a thought that lingered though. Could someone who failed so harshly be forgiven by the people? Part of the reason she had such a rapid shift in her own personality and profession is because of these outcomes. People knew who she was. They knew that she was his legacy, and she was demonized for it by those who were angered in his failure. Living in a shadow of a hero that never was. But he was a hero. He gave his life to protect everyone. No one could have imagined that the Goddesses would truly appear and punish not only him for failing to protect Hyrule, but also Zelda. It threw everyone under fire. And indirectly set her aflame as well. [break] [break]"Do you believe it would be possible for the hero to have moved on from his failures?" she mused, not realizing what she had said until it was spoken. She tended to keep these thoughts to herself, feeling a sense of shame and humiliation when others talked poorly of her brother. She looked up to him for so long, and to hear the resentment in others, it broke her heart. "Such a destiny that is given to someone, who has no idea its being thrown at them... it'd make anyone peel under pressure. Not all heroes win. But do you believe its possible to be forgiven for his mistakes and to move on and redeem?"

'The Hero', words that painted slight annoyance across his face though it was something that was out of his control. He knew she was talking about Link but he wasn't exactly sure why, Link had been a rival of his not only before Marik became fused with Seith but actually even more so when he had become on with the God of Good Fortune whom had held a rather nasty grudge against Link and wished nothing more than to defeat him in combat. While Seith's goals brought about a bit more than a battle royal against this Hero that the people spoke of, it had been a simple and earnest wish to do battle against Link to see who was the better. Marik himself had certain beliefs about this 'Hero' title and everything that came along with it that seemed to essentially be sacrilege in the lands of Hyrule though Marik did not care, he was steadfast in his beliefs, immovable in will. "Do I believe it would be possible? Yes. I do. Do I think that Link himself would, perhaps not. It is only those that dwell upon failure that are not able to move past it. It is okay to remember your failures and use them as examples to learn from it, grow from it and adapt to a new future, a better future though I do not claim to know what goes on within Link's head so I could not say for certain."
Marik's words came out sounding harsh and perhaps even a little bit bitter though the content of his words advised that he felt otherwise, it was a rather insightful opinion of his that he rarely got to share with his peers as most wouldn't listen to him or all they could think about was the Hero and what he must do, to Marik most people, especially those of Hyrule seemed like helpless and perhaps even maybe a bit spineless sheep that had far too much fear and far too little ambition within them to take a stand and crawl out of darkness themselves, relying on the alternative of using the 'Hero'. "Destiny is what you make of it, destiny, contrary to common belief is not something that is imprinted within your very being, this I can certainly prove. I do not wish to speak upon one singular person or one singular instance because I myself have always refused to believe in a Hero. I will be my own Hero, I will be a Hero to others but I will do it in my own way as I believe everyone should. There is a Hero within each and every one of us, especially now." Marik said with an extremely resolute tone.
The way Marik had just spoke certainly let on that he knew much more than it seemed he did only moments ago though at the time Marik actually hadn't remembered all of it, it sort of came out of his as natural instinct in the form of a response as that is what the true Marik would say, despite missing some of his memories he still was the Marik, the real one. A word she had said resonated with him the entire time he had been talking, lingering in the back of his mind until the moment he stopped talking and silence fell over the two. He thought about the word 'forgiveness' and the idea of redemption. Marik wasn't exactly sure why it had been that word that resonated with him but he suddenly felt a feeling of guilt and perhaps wrong-doing. 'Must I be forgiven?' Marik thought to himself, the thought seemed extremely odd because he couldn't think of a single thing that he'd need to be forgiven for at the moment but he was certain that by the time he could remember everything he would have his answer. "I have something I need to fix, I think that's why I need to go to Hyrule." Marik said in a low tone, the worst just barely escaping his lips as if it was meant to simply be a thought inside his head that had escaped through his mouth into the nights air. Marik's eyes set themselves from the girls shadowed face to the flames, watching them dance around as his gaze became blank, wondering what she'd respond with as he couldn't simply take back the words.

Hearing Marik speak of the hero with such contention in his voice made Aryllia's throat tighten in anxiety. She wasn't exactly sure why these words affected her so resolutely, but in a way, she felt that she had to endure the harshness of others in Link's stead while he suffered on a plain no other would understand. For the the rest of eternity. The hero's line was surely destroyed, and while it may have seemed like a punishment for the golden trio alone, The Goddesses truly doomed the entirety of the world. [break] [break]The hero - one forged by the Triforce itself, created in power, by the prayers of others, a being that was born of strength and courage to protect the world from the destruction of evil. He who had an unbreakable spirit, and an unnatural strength and ambition in accordance to other humans - only he was able, with the might of others, to stand in the way of evil. The Goddesses punished him for being unable to defeat the evil - one that was never meant to escape in the first place. [break] [break]Now that the hero is eternally sealed, the hero can no longer be reborn in Hyrule's time of need. Truly all would suffer for it. There have been stories of men who died in the flames of demons as they tried to fight when the hero would not appear. Only when he finally did, had true peace reigned over the land. Her brother had failed, and now humanity would, too. Maybe not in her lifetime, maybe not in her childrens', but in the inevitable future, a darkness would come, and the hero will not. [break] [break]She found it rather hard to respond to Marik's stance. She avoided his eyes a she felt her body clench in discomfort, staring into the flames as she thought over his words, processing them slowly. "He still fought for us. That has to mean something. And while maybe he didn't win, he did the last possible thing he could before his death. No one could have expected this kind of outcome because of it." she murmured softly, almost as if talking to herself. [break] [break]"I have a theory for the chaos that has taken hold of this land. The Triforce was a sort of beacon of hope to the people of Hyrule. A relic that gave those who touched it whatever they desired. Hidden from the public, it was only ever dreamed of, used as a hope, bringing comfort to the land in times of peril. When the hero had used his piece of the Triforce as a prayer, and the Goddesses appeared, they shattered it. They trapped Seith, and also imprisoned Link. In a sense... destroying all hope for the rest of the world." she explained. [break] [break]"By ending the cycle of the hero, as well as shattering the Triforce, many fear for their futures. Evil will come again. One that no normal people can stop alone. They've been introduced to magic and became greedy. They don't care about the state of the world anymore, so they do what they want, not fearing the consequences." she closed her eyes as she leaned back, looking around the darkened hut. Her ears had perked when she heard Marik mutter something under his breath once more. Was there something that he was ashamed of? Going to Hyrule wouldn't simply fix that... would it? [break] [break]She looked back over at him and then sighed, grabbing a few blankets that were tossed over a hanger to stay elevated, as she passed them over to Marik. "We should get some rest soon. We have to be up early tomorrow if we want to make it to Hyrule before its too late."

"They don't care about this world anymore? No normal human could stop? Have you looked at us, we are no longer normal humans especially with the Triforce shards in our possession, we can stop anything. The Gods certainly do care or else they would not left us with means to defend ourselves." Marik spoke with a certainly conviction, he surely wasn't afraid and he surely wasn't going to rely on anyone else when evil would make its return he would ensure himself and if by process of helping himself he would be a Hero for all others then so be it. It wasn't that he was greedy or didn't care for others it was just the simple fact that everyone has the power to defend themselves it is only those that do not try or at least not hard enough, that are afraid of what is to come. As Marik finished what he was saying a slight yawn came from his mouth as he quickly raised a hand to his mouth and turned his head to the side, he was certainly in need of some rest as Aryllia handed him some blankets.
Marik wasn't one who required such luxuries as a comfortable bed, in fact he rarely slept or rather form what he could remember he hadn't had sleep in quite a long time. "I suppose we should get some rest if were going to have a long day ahead of us. Good night." Marik said as he laid himself back on the ground near the fire with his sword and cloak on the ground beside him. He pulled the blankets that she had handed him over himself, rolling onto his side as he made himself a bit more comfortable, he hated sleeping on his back. As he closed his eyes he could only think about all the things that he had learned about himself in just that one day, the day he had woken up without many memories and a new companion. Marik hadn't realized it until just now but he thought it was odd that the fairy hadn't spoken one bit yet since he had been with it, opening one eye to look up near the tips of the dancing flame to notice that Compa had began to ascend from the fire as it laid itself on top of Marik, perhaps in a manner that it would be protecting him as he slept.
