Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused.
It takes a day to travel from the Castle to the Heroes of Hyrule camp. And since they had traveled to there late at night, they of course arrived late at night as well. Most of the members had been sleeping, aside from the usual guards. Aryllia, exhausted and unable to move had curled herself in the corner of a carriage with a blanket, and slept the entire time. Arm in a sling, she found it hard to get comfortable, keeping balance between both Asthar and Percy until they had made it home. But she refused to wake - her exhaustion was evident.
When they finally had arrived, they had been given a designated area to stay - an area with many beds for guests. But Aryllia didn't want to stick around. She didn't want to be there when everyone woke up, because the last person she wanted to face was in that very area.
Once the others had been settling in and focused on where they would be staying, Aryllia crept from the hall and immediately headed for the exit. She knew it would be stupid to try to go anywhere else from this point, especially in her weakened state - but if she waited long enough, she'd be able to go back once her brother was no longer within the area. So she headed out toward the forest, where she'd find a little spot to wait out the night.
Fairies, fireflies, and sprites galore - the little orbs of light illuminated the trees and shimmered against the small pool of water where Aryllia had taken up her rest. She wasn't far from the base - she only walked around the corner, where she bordered the Kokiri who guarded entrance to the rest of the ruins.
Against a tree, she dipped her hand within the water, before cupping it and pouring it over her injured arm - the coolness of the water soothing the pain that ached within her broken bone. She winced, but continued to do so, her icy fingers tracing along the fracture. Taking some petals of some flowers she collected along the way, she placed them upon her arm for medicinal effect - some for reducing the swelling, and others for hindering pain.
She was solemn - but she was embarrassed most of all. She had never allowed others to see her in such a state of fear and anguish, and to let that slip from her collection, she was humiliated. She honestly just wanted to run away again; just like how she did before when her brother was sealed away. But there was no where else to go anymore - it was either stay here or risk being seduced by the crime and capture by Eleazar's forces once more.
The mission was over and it was finally time for them to rest. Whether this mission was a success or a complete failure was something that varied from different eyes. In the eyes of Asthar this mission was barely a success as they had come out with more that they had gone in with as well as the fact that they all managed to make it out alive. They knew just who exactly the mastermind was and in a way he also could see Eleazar’s personality first hand. In a way it was kind of disappointing to see Eleazar being strung as a puppet to the goddess, but it was too early to judge. The biggest success was reclaiming the so called hero, but even then that was merely give as mere charity by the enemy, as if they were throwing what they thought was garbage.
Truly things went alright, but it did not feel that way at all. He did not feel as pleased as he should have been and if anything there all sorts of negative feelings. His allies were all hurt, either physically, mentally or just both. They definitely had a long road ahead of them and how they dealt with all this was something he didn’t really know how to deal with just yet.
With the rest of his friends they had eventually made it back to the hideout, his disguise having been removed now that its use was over with. At the very least he desired to keep the disguise a secret but at the same time not that much effort was placed into hiding his identity unless it was with those he could not trust.
After getting the numerous cuts on his body treated all that was left was for him to sleep. He had been given his own space to sleep, but such a space was unneeded for him. The outdoors was good enough for him. It wasn’t often that he was able to really sleep outside due to his status and in a way the outdoors brought him a little peace and change of pace. Whilst everybody had gone to their spot to sleep Asthar had already gone off and found himself resting upon a thick tree branch, his back resting against the tree as he sat on the branch with arms crossed casually and eyes closed. It was a good enough place to sleep, but the sound of rustling had caught his ear as he noticed a familiar and pleasing sight as he looked down from where he sat.
“Ah, a pretty lady such as yourself should not be all alone out here” Asthar called out as he sat up straight crossing his legs and resting his chin in the palm of his hand as he looked down at the girl that caught his eye. With the dazzling water and shine of the orbs of light floating about truly it made the girl seem so radiant. Looking down upon the girl with his red eyes Asthar smiled softly as he stared at her before closing his eyes with a wide cheerful smile. “Mind if I keep you company?” Asthar said.

Aryllia was not expecting company. The moment she heard the voice of another, her eyes had widened, and she stared at the figure whom was resting some distance away from her. The bright red eyes brought her familiarity of the King whom she had just traveled across Hyrule with.
For a moment, she found it hard to speak. Pursing her lips for a moment, she looked down, taking a deep breath and shrugging - or well, trying to with a broken arm. She winced slightly at the attempt before shaking her head in annoyance.
"I wish you wouldn't do that," she said sullenly. "I'm not pretty. Especially not now. And you should know by now I can take care of myself."
She felt her chin slide back into her hood, hiding her face behind the shadow that fell over from the cloak. With legs crossed and arms tucked in tight, she made herself as small as possible to avoid having to have too much interaction. Of course, it was Asthar though. And she should have known that no matter how much she would protest, he'd keep prying.
“Mind if I keep you company?”
"I'm fine! I don't need company!" she growled as she snapped her head forward in irritation; although she immediately regretted her words as soon as she spat them out. She couldn't quite explain why she had been so angry lately - whether it was because of everything that had transpired, or if it rooted from something deeper.
She could, however, note that she was especially petulant with Asthar despite having a deeper protective nature for him. She often second guessed things he would say to her, or became distrusting of his promises. It was all in her head though; nothing he had done or said to her had ever backed any of her fractious responses.
A silence lingered in the air, accompanied by the crickets and critters that lived within their surroundings. She had brought her knees up to her chin, resting her arms within the space between her chest and legs, before burying her head in shame.
"I'm sorry," her voice wavered. "I don't know why I do that."
No matter how many times he complemented the girl it always tended to end with her denying his words and acting almost as if she is some hideous woman hiding under a hood. While that may have been an exaggeration it still was a shame to see the girl not appreciate herself. In a way it made him want to praise her even more, to make her realize she actually is pretty. People called him a flirt and they wouldn’t be wrong to call him that, but all he really desired was to see a woman smile. In a way it brought a smile to his own face, but Aryllia was going to be a tricky one to get a smile. He had met numerous women and even wooed their hearts, but he had never really gotten serious with any of them. So why exactly was it that he was so into trying to get this one girl to smile?
His words were met with a loud yell of irritation and in that moment the smile on Asthar’s face slowly faded and his face turned calm as he stared at the girl as she sat and curled up into her knees. Listening to her apology Asthar calmly closed his eyes and pushed himself off the tree branch, gracefully descending down as his feet landed on the ground, albeit Asthar did cringe a bit due to his wounds. Walking forward he came to a halt as he stood right beside the girl and merely crossed his arms as he stared out forward.
“Its fine, you don’t have to apologize…” Asthar said coolly as he just looked forward at the lake. “..Perhaps…it is just because you are afraid…” Asthar said without even looking at her. “All that guilt you feel…the pain of losing your brother…of course situations like that is going to eat at somebody. You’re scared of losing anybody else that you care about and would rather not go through that pain…so you push yourself away…you don’t want to get close to anybody…at least that is what I believe…” Asthar said before unfolding his arms and placed one hand on his waist. “And so with everything that has happened…it’s only natural to be confused” Asthar said. All he said was merely the results of his observation of the girl. He had worked alongside the girl for a good amount of time and he was able to see a different side to her. The recent mission was something that allowed him to see even more of her.
Footsteps grew closer to the girl as Asthar stood close to the girl’s side. Bending down he looked at the girl with his face quite close to the girl buried face. “Perhaps I am overthinking this but I just wanted to let you know that you’re stuck with me until I accomplish my goal…” Asthar said closing his eyes with a bright grin. The very same goal that he had told Aryllia numerous times was something he would not stop to complete. He was going to make her smile and not just any ordinary smile but a pure and genuine smile. That was a friend’s duty after all…

Asthar had come down from the branch, slowly approaching her, but she dared not look in his direction as he came to a stop to her side. She took a deep breath, stifled in the space between her lips and her knees where they met, before slowly letting her fingers tighten into a grip. He began speaking calmly, but it only made Aryllia more irritated.
He talked of her fears--or rather--he talked of what he presumed she feared, and her stomach was twisting and turning so much she thought she might vomit. Even if these fears were true, it wasn't something she could easily undo or adjust to; and she was not confused. She felt she had a good set of ideas for what she did and didn't want--and he was something that... well...
She blinked a few times as she tried to trace back to that thought - what did she want from him? Or better yet, who was he to her? She sighed again, taking note that he began to step closer to her once more, now standing directly to her side as he towered over her petite body which curled up against the tree.
Once he began descending to meet her at eye level, she inhaled sharply from the nauseating feeling that returned and she kept her eyes direct and forward so that she wouldn't have to look directly at him. He continued to speak, but she still couldn't figure it out; why was he so calm?
"Do you feel anything?" she finally said, her tone became resolute and rather vindictive in a way. "Y'know, for as long as I've known you, I've come to realize I probably don't know you at all. You carry this facade with you wherever we go, and I've only ever seen it lift once."
She paused for a moment, swallowing hard as she slowly turned her face toward his. Her eyes were tired, and her hair was becoming messy. A small cut beneath her cheek had dried out and left as a minor scratch upon her skin.
"You have that monotonous, ever-cheery tone and try so hard to appear carefree and flirty and--" her voice rose a bit, but she stopped to word herself carefully. "The smile you carry, and the weight behind your eyes tells me it's all just a veneer to some kind of pain, or some kind of weakness that you can't bare to let anyone see. And it's not fair that I'm sitting here--practically unraveling in front of you and you just laugh and pretend that everything is going to be okay, and that you just want me to smile."
She inhaled again, sharper this time, before turning her head again. Her mind flashed back to the castle, a tremble in her body that lasted only an instant, and he tightened her grip onto her legs.
"I... I really thought we were going to die back there. I just don't understand how you can retain that kind of personality... after everything..."
Asthar listened to the words of Aryllia, he listened to each word and listened to how she questioned why he was so happy all the time even after having gone through such a life threatening moment. In response Asthar let out a mere soft sigh as he closed his eyes calmly, the cheerful smile on his face lowered a tad to a more calm smile. “Long ago...I knew a woman that was very close to me…one that will always have a place in my heart. A compassionate and wonderful woman who’s smile was filled with kindness and warmth. I loved that smile..it was a smile that I would always see that would always fill me with joy…” Asthar said as the smile on his face begun to slowly turn more solemn. “As time move on that smile begun to fade…replaced with a cold visage... I missed those smiles and so I did whatever I could…” Asthar said bashfully beginning to rub the back of his head “heh I did whatever I could to get her to smile…grab her flowers and gifts or just doing something stupid…if I got a smile then that was a victory in itself…” Asthar said.
“A smile can be a powerful thing, it motivates and inspires others. This title I bear, the title of king, if the king falters, cries or even grieves then what of the people? A ruler must be strong and firm, to lead and inspire his or her people. A king must be selfish, but selfless at the same…to be able to connect with their people and to motivate them forward…to not only have them follow you but to also share your ideals…As such a ruler does not have the luxuries to allow their weakness to show…otherwise their end is certain…” Asthar said calm and serious. The numerous times he desired to wallow away, to grieve and cry out, but in the world he was born into he barely had the chance to do such things. Truly he would have been broken if he didn’t push himself further and accepted all that was bad as a challenge.
“…Though it isn’t to say that I felt nothing during that mission. During that time I felt fear…not of that bastard Eleazar…fear that I would lose you…er…and Perseus….and I guess Gael too… I also felt rage everytime I saw you get hurt both physically and mentally…er and I guess when Percy got stabbed…I guess…” Asthar said rubbing the back of his neck as he spoke “but I smile now because we are still alive, we have a chance to live and to express whatever we desire” Asthar said. With that said Asthar eyes opened once more and reaching in he gently held the girl’s chin and smiled at her softly. “heh I always tend to ramble that it’s a bad trait…in the end just want to say that being around you just makes me smile as well…its simple as that really” Asthar said closing his eyes with his cheerful smile once more.

Despite everything that Aryllia tried to point out - she couldn't get Asthar to look serious about her concerns. He still had that smile plastered on its face; however it softened this time, becoming more relaxed and faltering to his words. He spoke of someone who was close to him, and how he did everything in his power to make her happy and to smile, but it became harder and harder.
Aryllia couldn't really understand why this story made her envious of that person - and somehow she could relate. It became harder for her to relax and enjoy the simple things. She had hardened in her time away from Castle Town - before Eleazar's armies threatened their survival. She grew hardened from watching many wars blow over and become stale. She grew colder because it felt safe.
She pursed her lips and continued to look away. She found it hard to look him in the eyes as the two spoke, but she let him finish his story and how it became a mission of his. "...What happened to this woman?" she finally asked, curious to see who was able to capture his heart.
He went on to speak about how a smile can boost the morale of those around him; and how a King must always be held in grace and collection, and Aryllia disagreed completely. That was no way to live; and to restrain yourself from feeling and expressing the emotions that impact you most can be detrimental in the long run. She frowned at this, turning back to face him with a concern painted over her.
"Thats... that's not okay," she stated carefully. "You can't do that to yourself! What about when no one is looking? Or when you are with people who will not judge? You can't just bottle it all up and expect to be okay in the end!"
She felt very seriously about this. As someone with experience in trying to hold the lid on everything she ever felt, and watching herself implode from the pressure, she knew the dangers on the mental state that this could cause. She understood the anguish it gave someone. The very feelings it created made her incredibly unstable and she attempted harm on her own life for it.
Even now she wondered - was he being true to his emotions right now? Was he really smiling because he wanted to? All she wanted was to see him for who he really was, and even now she struggled to think that this was truly him as a person.
Then he spoke of the mission - and how he feared for his life, and the life of his friends. It was the one moment in all of the time they have spent together that she had seen a glimpse of an emotion other than pure collection. And despite it only lasting a second, it had made her wonder what had triggered such a reaction.
But what truly caught her off guard, was the last sentence he spoke. After all of this, and after all of her arguments, he would not let down the attempt to have her smile for him. And it frustrated her to no end because she didn't like smiling.
"I don't understand you!" she shook her head, running a hand over her hairline. "There's nothing to smile for. Not now, not then, and probably not for a while. If I tried, it wouldn't be genuine. The only bliss I can truly attest to as being considered comparable to a happy feeling would be my relief that no harm came to you... and even then, my judgment is clouded by that... evil man."
With how vague he was it was not a surprise that Aryllia would have been a bit curious about who this woman was, but Asthar didn’t really feel like going into that quite deeply just yet. “ah…she was...killed…” Asthar said softly looking to the side in response to what she said. Despite all that he spoke of that woman and her smile, her most memorable one was the last she gave him. Those tear filled face with a smile as big as ever, he could not forget that face and though it was merely a smile that was supposed to tell him everything was going to be alright in the end all it really did was just tell him a sorrowful goodbye.
Asthar listened to the girl reject his claims about what a king had to do and he crossed his arms calmly as he stared at her. “…you’re right…but you misunderstand…” Asthar said closing his eyes. “All my sorrows and grief…I truly never got the chance to express it…no one to truly share it with…had I shed those sorrows it would have weakened my resolve” Asthar said as he tapped his head with one finger. “Instead I used it…I used it to push forward and to strengthen my resolve so that that sorrow will never occur again. I merely release in other ways” Asthar said.
Her outburst about having nothing that would make her caused him to open his eyes and look at her. He didn’t know what it was, but just listening to her completely say that there wasn’t anything that made her smile was something that bugged him much more that it truly should have. When she finished her words there was merely no response as the area merely grew silent. Asthar’s own eyes looking forward instead of at the girl and in that moment that moment Asthar merely took a seat beside her with one leg outstretched forward while the other was bent up with his arm resting on the up risen knee.
There was silence, but then Asthar merely closed his eyes and chuckled softly. “Ah, so my safety is the closest thing to happiness to you? Ah dare I say you are starting to fall for me?” Asthar said raising a hand to his hair as he brushed away the bangs from his face as he looked over at her with a soft smile “I’m sure you must know that I am far too stubborn so go ahead! Deny that you’ll find happiness, mope and weep if you desire it…but I’ll always be by your side to prove you’re wrong…” Asthar said as his smile grew soft “It will take a while but I am patient… you control your life…not Eleazar or anybody else…” Asthar said as he spread out his arms with a happy grin “and if you ever need a hug feel free!” Asthar said.

Her heart sunk when Asthar mentioned that the woman in question had been killed. Her eyes softened a bit, and she looked away rather sheepishly, ashamed she had brought it up in the first place. She continued to listen to him, but the silence fell over them again as he went to sit near her.
As he sunk into the ground beside her, his shoulder had brushed up against her own as she glanced in his direction as he began to speak once more. Why did he try so hard for her? She had gotten cheesy, unrealistic answers in the past about how he cared because they had history - but their history was brief and unlikely to progress.
There were plenty of others he could devote his time to helping, and part of her was suspicious that perhaps Elinkar had given one request to Asthar to watch over her; but that seemed doubtful as well. “Ah, so my safety is the closest thing to happiness to you? Ah dare I say you are starting to fall for me?”
Her eyes sprung open as she flung her head to face him; her face became pale and pink, flushing in horror as her heart froze in her chest. "Hold on--w-wait--I never said that--" she stuttered out as her lip began to tremble. What was he thinking saying something like that!? She couldn't believe he even brought it up! Quickly, she looked away again, her face becoming more red as she stuffed her nose into her arms, which wrapped around her over her knees.
He spoke of letting her try to deny the happiness, and that he'd stick around to prove her wrong, but she had no idea how to respond. She could barely look at him! But after a moment of collecting herself again, she swallowed hard and lifted her chin from her arms and slowly turned to him.
There were so many thoughts that scattered throughout her brain. It was as though time froze for a moment as her mind began to sort through each and every voice that screamed out for attention. And all she could do was stare at him, blanket expressions that just became calm and peaceful.
She closed her eyes for a moment, listening to each one, second by second as they raced in order.
He's lying to you.
Don't give into your weaknesses!
Maybe just this once, things could be okay.
Stop denying what you already know.
What she normally suppressed had overflowed and it became visibly obvious as worry washed over her face and she looked as though she was going to become ill. Her vision evaded his once more, and she started to snivel under her breath.
"I don't deserve this," she breathed out exhaustively. "I never deserved this--I never deserved you."
She looked back up at him with heavy eyes that were glossy and hard to keep focused. They followed his gaze, and then she looked down again, taking a deep breath.
"You should go, and we probably shouldn't see each other for a while," she admitted wistfully. "I-it's dangerous, and I'd be a target to get closer to you... and if Phenex finds out there's someone I... no, it's not safe, we shouldn't be this way--this was a mistake, I knew this could happen, and I still did it!"
She could barely control her anxiety as she whipped away from him and stood up in a fret. She took a few steps away from him and attempted to calm herself as her hands rose to her temples and pressed against them gently. Her breathing became sporadic and thinner, and once again her thoughts scrambled.
One of her greatest fears was becoming reality, and she couldn't stop it. Tears welled in her eyes for a moment, and she began to shake, feeling incredibly nauseous as she faced her phobias head on, watching it unravel before her and take over her sense of right and wrong.
"I can't love you," she conceded in a whisper as tears began to cascade over her cheekbones.
Once again she chose to reject herself. She chose to reject her happiness because she felt that she did not deserve it. The arms that he had outstretched were put down and the smile he had on his face faded away as he watched the girl and listened to her as she rejected him as well and tried to get away from him. “THAT’S ENOUGH!” Asthar suddenly yelled closing his eyes and clenching his teeth in sheer irritation as he suddenly rose to his feet and stood up facing the girl.
Eyes opened up and narrowed as his slit like pupils grew thin as he stared at her with his red eyes. What was usually a more casual look on his face was one that seemed to be replaced by far more serious one. “Just stop it! Stop doing this to yourself! I’ve had enough of this! Constantly putting yourself down, believing that you do not deserve to be around anybody you care about…The only person that is preventing you from feeling happiness is yourself! Nobody else!” Asthar said fiercely as he begun to walk forward straight at the girl.
She was struggling and confused on what to do next. He knew she didn’t want to leave, but she felt she had to. Aryllia had been through a huge amount and it was understandable that she would feel that way but he could not leave it like this. “You think I am afraid of placing my life at stake? My life has been under threat ever since I was born! I told you to deny you will find happiness all you want, but I will not allow it when it makes you suffer like this!” Asthar said stopping in front of her and looked down at her. “Denying one’s self of happiness...growing colder and colder as time moves on…I’ve seen it happen with my own eyes and I won’t let the same thing that happened to that woman happen to you! I will not allow you end up just like my mother!” Asthar said narrowing his eyes gritting his teeth almost in pain before closing his eyes and let out a sigh. All the feelings he had were swirling out. He hated expressing it all at once and to refer to his past but it had gotten to the point that he wanted to say everything so that Aryllia would not leave. He desired to let out his feelings and the very feeling he had about her.
“You say you can’t love me? Then that’s fine…but even so I will just continue loving you until you can finally love yourself!”

Aryllia froze in place as Asthar's voice rose in anger. Stiff as a board, she kept her eyes forward and refused to look back - but the sound of him jumping up and taking a step in her direction caused her to snap back and watch as his piercing glower picked itself through her gaze.
“Just stop it! Stop doing this to yourself! I’ve had enough of this! Constantly putting yourself down, believing that you do not deserve to be around anybody you care about…The only person that is preventing you from feeling happiness is yourself! Nobody else!”
She felt like a knife went through her heart as the words filled her brain with panic. She retracted slightly, taking a step back as she fought with herself on whether to stay or run. He was approaching her now, still angry as ever and she couldn't believe he was reacting this way--nor did she think he could!
He continued to throw his words at her like darts as he took a stop directly before her. He was taller than her, looking down with those scarlet eyes and he continued to cry out his concern.
“Denying one’s self of happiness...growing colder and colder as time moves on…I’ve seen it happen with my own eyes and I won’t let the same thing that happened to that woman happen to you! I will not allow you end up just like my mother!”
There was a pause between them. He retracted in pain, There was a desperation in his eyes that she had never seen before, and she suddenly knew that the woman from the story before was his own mother. Her lip quivered a bit, swallowing hard as her mouth went dry. He was closer; closer than usual. He let out one last comment in defeat, but Aryllia's nerves began to light up within her and tingle beneath her skin at his last words.
Eyes widened, she let out an audible breath in surprise, stiff and void of all thoughts as they watched each other carefully.
He loved her. And all this time, she never knew. This couldn't be real, could it? Surely this had to be a joke. He was a King. His selection of women was infinite and surely he'd never lower himself to be with someone like her--
She stopped. She shook her head once in frustration at her own mind going negative once more. This is what it wanted; whatever was ingrained in her wanted her to be unhappy for survival purpose. She knew that.
She looked back at him for a moment, biting her lip as she tried to consider what to next. Closing her eyes she then sighed, before pressing a hand on his chest and taking hold of his shirt, pulling him into her and crashing her lips into his.
It was true that Asthar had numerous women that he could have chosen to entrust his heart to. Numerous women were more than willing to accept his heart and become the woman of his heart, but Asthar had never truly met a woman he was willing to give his heart to. Most women always looked at him a cared for him merely because of his looks and charms rather than who he was. It wasn’t a bad thing in Asthar’s eyes but at the same time if he was to love somebody it would be for somebody who would love him back for who he was. Though he flirted with countless women never once did Asthar truly get intimate with any of them. Charming their hearts was all that really was there and Asthar in a way was fine with that. The thought of having somebody to truly love seemed something that wasn’t going to happen in Asthar’s mind, but that had changed.
He loved Aryllia, he had fallen for her and wanted to help her out desperately. She cared for him and it wasn’t just because he was some king of sorts. Being with her always made him happy even if she refused the feeling of happiness. Asthar truly wanted a woman that would love him back, but if it meant that he had to give up a chance with her to make her happy it would be a choice he would take. His own mind was jumbled in a sense. He himself did not really realize the feeling was love up until recently when he spoke more so out of emotion than with rational thinking.
His eyes remained closed and because of it he did not notice the girl coming closer to him. He felt the sudden grab of his shirt and before he could even open his eyes he was pulled down as his lips made contact with hers. Upon the contact Asthar’s eyes widened in complete shock as he looked down at the girl. He truly did not really know what to expect from the conversation but this was definitely not the result he truly expected.
With her soft lips against his Asthar closed his own eyes and eased into the kiss, wrapping one arm around her while avoiding her injured arm. Having her like this truly enforced his desire to make sure she could truly smile happily and contently. He would do whatever it took to make it happen. He couldn’t tell how much time had passed as he didn’t even care, but eventually he released her and pulled away, taking a step back and stared at her.
His mind was a mess, he could not just believe that happened and his face turned red. He wanted to make a charming quip like he usually did but the words didn’t come out of his mouth as he stood there still shocked before he looked to the side timidly and looked downwards, placing the tips of his index fingertips together and pushed them in and out “W….well then…that was….truly amazing…” Asthar said bashfully.

Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused.
This was a stupid idea. The moment Aryllia had done it, she regretted it; worried that perhaps it was a mistake or that she mistook his affection or was reading the entire situation wrong. But as she pulled him in, he was still for a moment, but eased himself, pulling her closer, and she suddenly felt like she was on fire.
They froze in time for a moment; the glow of the sprites and fireflies around them continuing to shimmer against the water that was near them. She couldn't understand why her heart was beating out of her chest, or why she couldn't think straight. She wanted to breathe, but she couldn't.
As they pulled apart, she looked down immediately, lips tightly pressed together as her face went red. Finally, she could breathe. She didn't look up at his reaction, still embarrassed she even pulled something like that. You're supposed to ask a King before you do anything to or for them, aren't you?
The King spoke, and she looked up again, this time a bit confused. He looked just as nervous as she did, and she felt like she was on fire again. She tried to speak, but her tongue was twisted and her words were just a mess of noise that became audible.
Oh god, did she want to run.
She swallowed hard and watched him carefully, still unsure of how to respond. Maybe it was too much; or maybe he was just saying that!
"Was... was that okay?" she asked quietly, a small quiver in her anxious voice. "I didn't mean to surprise you..."
His thoughts were jumbled, unable to think straight as he stood before the girl that had kissed him. He didn’t exactly know what to say to her and he still couldn’t believe that it even happened in the first place. He felt out of place a bit and while the kiss was amazing it was something he really wasn’t prepared for. A kiss to the hand sure and maybe a small peck on his cheek, but a full blown kiss like this was something he always prevented from occurring until now.
Asthar was unsure how really act from where he was. He was always the one to act first and now that was not the case he had no idea what to do now. He was completely flustered and his face was still a bit red, but he immediately noticed the girl begin to speak and Asthar took a deep sigh. “You idiot…” Asthar said softly as he came to a pause. As he gathered his thoughts and calmed his mind Asthar’s eyes closed and a smirk formed on his face. “Being kissed by a beauty of a woman...of course it is ok!” Asthar said as he turned to face her and grinned “I take that kind of surprise without a single complaint!” Asthar said cheerfully.
Opening his eyes Asthar couldn’t help but keep on smiling, albeit it was a much calmer smile in opposed to the energetic one a moment ago. “To cast away one’s pain, to devoid oneself of pleasure and sadness…it relieves one’s self of any burden they may feel and allows them to survive this cruel world…but that is no way to live. It is an empty life doomed to nothingness…a stagnant life that will never grow. Though we may grieve, though we may feel rage…it is merely a part of living…to laugh, to cry, and even to love…that is what it is to live and though it may be hard, it gives us purpose…” Asthar said. His face was almost serene in a way as he merely spoke softly with a gentle smile on his face.
Though it was the middle of the night without the radiance of the sun the forest was still illuminated. Fireflies and sprites dancing about like little orbs all about and the illuminating moon over head. Ruby like eyes stared at her as Asthar calmly raised his hand and held it out to her, opening his palm and held it out for her to either accept or deny. “No matter what, I desire to keep you safe and rid you of this pain…I want you to smile. I want to walk alongside you as you enjoy life. It may be a long path, but no matter how long I am willing to go that distance” Asthar said softly as he smiled a warm smile “so tell, do you desire to walk alongside me?” Asthar said.

"You idiot..."
"Wait... what?" Aryllia narrowed her eyes. Did he really just call her an idiot for kissing him!? Her eyes widened and her face flashed an inhuman amount of crimson as she felt her throat tighten so much, she thought maybe something was choking her.
Suddenly a smirk curled onto his face as he began to speak again, only to explain that it was accepted and without gripe. She felt even stupider. She wasn't sure if it was because she was embarrassed that he was giving her kiss so much praise, or if it was because she couldn't believe she was in love with a complete dope.
She let out a deep sigh as her face curled into her collar once more, letting the heat escape from her skin as she tried to settle the whirls in her stomach. He spoke again, and she took a deep breath to look up at him once more.
His hand slowly began to raise toward hers, waiting for her to grasp it, and she watched his palm for a second, biting her lip as her eyes slowly moved up to his scarlet gaze. There was something different about them this time; they were more serious, but serene as well.
“so tell, do you desire to walk alongside me?”
Was he... asking her to be his? A very reticent gasp, barely audible to even herself had escaped her lips, as it shuddered into a nervous breath. She looked back down at his hand, hesitant to reach for it. This was so dangerous for them both... and it hardly made sense for them to be together in a political sense.
She was a sage. She wasn't supposed to find love. Her duty was to her temple. Nothing could distract her from that.
And yet, she still abandoned her post.
It didn't make logical sense to dwell on a duty she no longer wished to carry.
She let out a final breath as her lips curled, and slowly she brought her hand to meet his, resting it gently in his palm, before looking to him again, with a very apprehensive, but genuine smile.
