Before the Civil War, when she was simply the attendant to Princess Esmerelda, Vaida was a carefree woman, young compared to many of the other attendants and far more willing to bend to what her princess wanted. She has always had a sense of duty in her life, but never felt that one must sacrifice their self in order to complete it.
Afterwards, the fleeing of Hyrule Castle shocked Vaida to her core, though her princess was safe as were her siblings, she felt something similar, but that changes were among the horizons and one must adapt to their new lives always. Gone was much of the carefree attitude, replaced with a loyalty so profound that when faced with any obstacle, she would fight it for the royal family.
Rules however, have always remained bendy, Vaida learned quickly how to skirt the edge of every rule and find loopholes to what anyone said. She was far more capable of doing what needed to be done. Duty only went so far, when your duty was to the wrong thing.
It has always been said that she was aloof, what people said about her has never affected Vaida's decisions in life, nor her attitude towards it. Which is that if you don't catch life by the jaws, it will catch you. Vaida is always looking for a grand adventure and something of purpose, and people's opinions weren't going to change, and neither was she. She comes across as carefree and her head up in the clouds when she is not on immediate duty to Esme, and many times when she is, though the girl is careful not to let other take notice.
Vaida can be rather flirtatious despite her quiet and intense nature, when she finds someone approachable she may joke with them and flirt harmlessly. She enjoys amiable conversation and like many women, attractive men and women to have these conversations with.
Despite her willingness to adventure, and her loyalty, Vaida is rather quiet and prefers to not speak longer than necessary to strangers. Only those closest to her have heard more than a handful of sentences at a time, at a volume louder than a whisper.
This gives Vaida a quiet but intense personality, a strong backbone and the courage to tilt her chin up at the world.
Reading: There is always something alluring about a book, no matter the subject, Vaida will gladly take new reading material to devour in her spare time.
Being outdoors: The clean air, the sounds of nature, remind her of her roots. And she has always enjoyed both the light of the sun and moon against her as she travels.
Adventure: Despite the horrors she's seen, and the trouble grand adventures cause, Vaida is always willing to find new places and explore.
Spicy food: any flavor capable of making her gasp in surprise is the greatest.
Quiet Contemplation: Vaida enjoys long stretches of time where it is just herself and only one other. It allows her time to focus and meditate on her life.
Strangers: if she isn't buying anything from them, she refuses to speak more than a couple words.
Being stationary: if she's forced to stay in one spot, particularly small and cramped ones, Vaida typically becomes antsy and snappish.
Long hair: she cut her hair many years ago, too easy to get caught by, and she believes the style compliments her well.
The protection of Esmerelda Hyrule, the young girl she is tasked with protecting with her life. Esmerelda is not only her charge, but her close friend.
To one day see Hyrule restored to its former glory: and to help restore it in turn.
A life of adventure: even the smallest of adventures are a goal to achieve.
Losing Esmerelda: the consequences aside, should the princess be lost, Vaida would be without a close friend, and would lose all trust in herself.
To die without seeing the world, every inch of it.
Curses: there is magic in the world, not all good, and that darker magic leaves a chill in Vaida's bones that will not dissipate.
Almost four hundred years ago, Vaida was born into a Sheikah clan much like many of them, her mother though, had died shortly after her birth leaving her father and the clan to raise her. A community that shared everything and were good. There was peace in Hyrule, and despite the proficient family that she had come from, it became noted after some time into her childhood that Vaida didn't quite have the perfect vision that most Sheikah had. Though she was quite aware of her surroundings and in close quarter areas was a good fighter, the world for her was blurred and her eyes were too sensitive for the normal light of Hyrule and she began blindfolding herself and training the rest of her senses.
She trained to become the shadows, to move silently and stay out of the light, her hearing became brilliant and she could feel the shift in the wind that a person produced when they came too close. And though her intense personality had always shone in certain situations, it became apparent quickly that Vaida was suited to the task as the attendant of Esmerelda Hyrule, a shadow that waited in the dark to strike. And as soon as she was appointed, it became her life's goal to see the princess safe and happy.
Before that time though, Vaida took it upon herself to see what parts of the world she could, and visited places across Hyrule and even the borders of Labrynna. When she came back, her heart, though still set on adventure; had settled and was ready to devote herself to the royal family.
She'd been tasked to watch Esmerelda when the girl was young, and while Vaida had been just out of adolescence, she knew what the young princess would deal with after the tragedy of her birth. Vaida was intimately familiar with the sorrow, and vowed to help Esmerelda move past it, and be her best self. Vaida had always felt she was another older sister, and the two girls bonded near immediately.
When the royal family were uprooted from the castle, Vaida stayed with Esmerelda and helped the family flee as best as she could. Joining the Heroes of Hyrule by extension and loyalty. Now, her duty is to see the royal family returned, and Esmerelda happy where she belongs.
Similar in appearance to many Sheikah, Vaida possesses bright white hair that is cut to a bob around her chin with bangs that hang around her face. She is pale, freckles dotting along her cheekbones and nose bridge. A high-cheekboned and narrow face with round eyes of purple; though her eyes and much of her upper face is covered by a black satin ribbon that acts as a blindfold.
She is rather petite, standing only about 5'5 and thin. Most of her body weight coming from the muscles she developed in training. Vaida is long-legged and has a rather whispy and nonchalant way of moving that makes her seem carefree or careless.
Most of Vaida's wardrobe is her customary black, though it is much more girly and formal than most Sheikah.
Type: Twin Swords: Luna & Solar
Handling: One or Two handed
Description: Two long thin blades that curve slightly the blades are a dark charcoal grey, hilts black wrapped in white. Each blade is a mirror image of the other and single bladed. Rarely does she ever use them both at once, only in the more dire of fights would she draw both and attempt to duel in open combat.
+ Night Vision: All Sheikah are able to see in the dark if they possess crimson colored eyes; however, they will glow in the darkness, making Sheikah a target for attacks if the others cannot see in the shadows.
+ Lens of Truth: Sheikah have a natural ability to resist illusionary magic of equal or lower rank of their arcane trait.
+ Weak to Light: Sheikah are weak to light attacks due to their natural ability to thrive with shadow based magic. Due to this, they will take extra damage to light magic.
MAGIC TYPE: Arcane
NAME: True Sight
DURATION/COOLDOWN: The spell lasts for number of minutes while in combat and can only be used once per situation/thread.
DESCRIPTION: When in combat, Vaida's magic manifests to provide her with an extra boost to all her senses to counteract her vision. Vaida's eyes glow a dim purple and allow her to see with a different sort of clarity no matter the lighting around her, her ears begin to hone in on different sounds and accurately know distances and speeds of what's around her. Her reaction times are boosted in response only slightly. Her senses though only act within an immediate distance around her. About what her normal sight range would be.
Satin ribbon: Vaida always cares black ribbon on her as a blindfold for when the light becomes too much for her to handle.
If there was one thing, in the hundreds of years she'd lived that made her happier, it was Princess Esmerelda smiling. And though the reasoning behind it was a sorrowful one, His Majesty had recently passed, and losing the last of her parents had clearly been a toll on the young princess; it had also led to a new her. The once quiet and reserved princess who spoke little, even to her attendant, had brightened. Taking it upon herself to be her best, studying relentlessly, practicing at archery and horseback with a dedication Vaida had only seen in the long-lived Sheikah.
Vaida watched Esmerelda on horseback, the both of them, as through the trees they maneuvered, the princess ahead of her a bow drawn as she shot target after target. Her attendant watching with eyes of a hawk. Not that anything dangerous could really be traipsing across the grounds at the height of day, it did not hurt to be cautious. If anything, Esmerelda was more the danger to herself, though she'd quickly become quite the adept on horseback, the animals could be wild when provoked wrongly. So Vaida simply kept up a quick trot behind the princess, careful to remain out of her line of shot.
The two girls were young, in their respective ways. Vaida, centuries older than the princess still felt like a child among many of the other attendants, but she was still another older sister to her, one whose time was dedicated to taking care of the young girl. She knew the kinship between them was shared in likeness by few others. Possibly the other attendants and their royals, but the circumstances between these girls had made them kin, as if the Goddess had decided it herself.
An arrow twanging against a target, dead center, draws Vaida from her thoughts.
Trailing after the princess a bit faster, she rounded a set of trees and drew her horse up close to the princess's crimson eyes bright in the midday sunlight and a soft smile on her normally neutral face at the young girl.
"Quite the shot, my lady. You're practically a natural at this," she tells the girl, watching as the princess gallops across the grounds cheerfully, continuing to shoot. Some miss, some do not. And from the short distance, Vaida can see a strong royal seated upon that horse. And she can only grin at any part she had in it.
