With the setting of the sun over Clocktown, the daily life had begun to wind down for those who lived and worked in town. The street lamps were lit and the men and women of Termina found their way back home for dinner. It was safest at night, unsavory people could be lurking in the dark.
On the western side of Clocktown, closest to the Great Bay sat an old, starting to creak tavern. People of all kinds roamed in and out of it, crowding the main room of the building looking for the warmth of indoors or good food and drink. This meant nearly every table had someone on it, from those of hardworking attitudes just looking for a night of relaxation, to those who used the tavern as a meeting place. People played cards, drank, sang, and were merry all around.
Centered inside the tavern, reclining in her seat was a slightly unusual sight for the town; a Gerudo woman. As tall as many of her counterparts, the Gerudo woman was relaxing in her seat a drink in hand as she smiled lazily at the other Gerudo around her. All women. Over the din of the crowd, it was hard to make out what they spoke of, but it was clearly of a cheery nature from the warm smiles the women threw at each other over the course of the evening.
"Can you imagine the look on his face? Realizing we'd fleeced 'im of all 'e had? Couldn't dare keep 'is eyes off one of our ladies and look what 'appened? The voe lost everything except what 'e kept on 'is person." there's a cackle of laughter from the table, the conversation throwing old storied around. Hard to hear, but anyone capable of catching it could summarize an idea, piracy.
The woman reclining in her seat, dressed a bit nicer than her counterparts and clearly leading the conversation. She wore her hair in intricate braids away from her face, loose colorful breeches and a shirt that revealed warm brown skin of her midriff. A loose layer of scarves that acted as a hood wrapped around her shoulders and there was gold in her ears and around her wrists.
"It has been a good few weeks girls, reap the rewards for it," she says, smiling confidently as the women around her cheered. Cups lifted into the air in salute. "Only more to come from there when you sail with me."
Many came and went for sure, and Liam wasn't the first in his trio. He had currently been working for a local lesser knight as a man at arms, though he tended to be more outfitted than most men at arms or average guardsmen; a chainmail haubergon and leather armor that covered everything else, broadsword across his back and cloak draped about his shoulders. Cordial but quiet, his conversation with the other men at arms he came in with was light, each person around him seemed to give Liam a wide berth, to the eye of a skilled pickpocket or charlatan he might look like a mark, a wallet on his belt and silver and gold earrings and rings on his fingers carrying semi-precious gems, he certainly didn't look the part of a standard clock town resident.
And while he didn't seem particularly boorish, the men around him definitely participated in the standard attempts at displays of masculinity. Liam slumped in a chair as he watched a pair of men idly trying to arm wrestle one another for coin, all the while he went through the process of pulling out his smoke pouch and put his pipe to his mouth, packing some bulls-eye tobacco into his pipe, tamping it down and repeating the process as needed until he had a packed and full bowl, lighting the top with a match before waving it out, the husky, smokey aroma mixed with alcohol only added to the ambiance of the den of debauchery.
The swordsman's gaze ticked around the room, taking measure of each person within, the tender, the waiters or waitresses that were serving drinks, a particularly loud outburst behind him from a table of gamblers caught his attention for a moment before the melodic laughter of gerudo pirates caught his attention. Not caring to stare too long, but still staring until someone at the table met his gaze. It was at that moment one of the men Liam was with clasped a hand on his shoulder, "Your go. I *know* I can beat you, best two out of three. What's say we start with twenty rupees?" Liam finally heard at a volume more than a hushed exchanged gaze a sigh, "Look, I don't know why you all insist on this," taking the pipe from his mouth and blowing a plume of smoke off to his side, "Twenty it is." The son of a guardsman turned logger, Liam was not unfamiliar to the feats of strength brother's and drunk men liked to partake in, quite the contrary he knew the technique well, leaning his shoulder forward and pulling his arm slightly closer so he could put more of his upper body as well as his arm into the throw, from there it was a simple affair of tabling the man in front of him--likely someone stronger in his arms, though he just didn't have the technique.
Pocketing his extra twenty rupees, Liam returned to his previous seat, puffing on his pipe to keep it alive as he watched the three men he had come in with begin to rib and bicker about Liam's prowess or lack-thereof. When a finger was jammed in Liam's face in an accusatory fashion, "You're cheating buddy! I don't know how, but a scrawny guy like you, there's no way you're stronger than me!" a silence washing over the bar as those words seemed to carry the bite in them that suggested the possibility of a brawl.

The women at the table are having a fine night, because all of them knew the rules. They could drink, party, cajole and con all night as long as no one died and the guard and king didn't get a whif of the piracy happening under their noses. Don't ask, don't tell. So when Indrani came into Clocktown to enjoy herself, she meant to enjoy herself peacefully. Roughhousing and violence were saved when real money was on the line, and when she had the ocean breeze sang to her. So when Indrani tipped back the last of her mug and heard the beginnings of what would become an old fashioned brawl. The woman's face went sour and her lips thinned into a tight bloodless line. Those around her knew the simple face and annoyance and became quiet.
Indrani stood, her chair scraping across the floor of the tavern and she whirled on the men who she zeroed in on the cause of the tension. Standing now one could see the glint of gold on her hips that were weapons, and any man foolish enough to ignore those for the expanse of brown skin and tattoos being shown between the hem of her short blouse and low-sitting pants, would face the cold edge of one of those blades. Should she find them outside Clocktown.
"You men, always starting messes over useless amounts of gold that wouldn't get you guys a moment's notice anywhere," she drawls at them, folding her arms across her chest as she approaches them, glancing briefly at the man she had made eye contact with at her table. "Now, leave here and go settle your damned pissing contest where I'm not trying to enjoy my drink, or you deal with me and my women." At the threat of help, the Gerudo behind her stood, many of them standing above some of the men who were there.
"Aw shit," Liam murmured to himself. He had never seen a Gerudo woman fight, nor a whole pack of him, and he wagered the two other men-at-arms who had been squabbling with him hadn't either. He was a footman, sure, a more well-outfitted and for his age, a fit and experienced fighter, but Liam didn't presume to measure his skills as adequate to fight a squad of Gerudo pirates, then again that streak of caution combined with luck and skill were the exact reason Liam was as intact in his profession as he was. He bit his lower lip and leaned forward on his chair. He already knew how this was going to end and was convinced to take no part in it.
The two other men at arms looked at the feminine figure of Indrani and her pirate underlings and both put on a self-absorbed smirk. Liam had no love or true loyalty for these men, they were just hired hands working under the same charge as he was, past that whatever trouble they got into he would be happy to let them handle it themselves. Not to mention... This was an opportunity in disguise. A chance for Liam to observe not only one but a handful of these warrior woman be precisely that; warriors. "What? You think I'm gonna let a bunch of jeweled up women tell me what I can and can't do?" Shifting from Liam, the two squaring off against Indrani. "You know what? I think you owe me an apology, talkin' to me like that."
Liam dragged his palm across his face, this was getting painful. Meanwhile big, bald and angry stepped closer to Indrani, trying to physically intimidate her it seemed, and indeed he was a large man, easily over six feet while Liam checked in at an inch or two taller than six feet. Rolling his eyes, he waited to see just what would happen, the other, shorter man at arms wit ha black mustache and ratty looking hair stepped up beside him. Swiveling around on his stool to watch what was about to go down. It wasn't often Liam had someone who showed up to fight a battle for him, and these Gerudo were ready to do it at the slightest annoyance. Luckily, blades hadn't been produced yet. Hopefully with would only be fought with fists, not steel.

There was bravery in the man who called Indrani out, a jeweled girl. That's exactly what she was to these men, too drunk and stupid to see the fight brewing underneath the dark woman's skin. "I don't think anything, in fact, I know you'll be giving me and my girls an apology for that tone. Because if you don't I will break every finger you have. Slowly." she threatens, hands resting casually on her hips as the women around her begin to shift, antsy at the expectation of a fight. Indrani hears a few of them murmur about how they weren't supposed to be starting fights.
She wasn't afraid of the consequences, if anything she was waiting for the men around her to start something. Because that's how it worked. She never started a fight, goaded and teased until there were men armed to the teeth in her face, but never did Indrani throw the first punch on dry land. She wasn't stupid. Brash, a bit irrational, reckless. Not stupid.
"Girls, circle out." she says sipmply and the women behind her fan out slowly, simply walking around the men who have gotten in their leader's face. One girl stops near the blond man she had seen looking at her boss.
"She always does this." the woman mutters, folding her arms across her chest and watching as Indrani takes a step back from the larger man.
"Don't breathe your stale beer in my face please, it's bad enough I have to look at you."
