Two. Hours. Early.
Link had no idea what had driven him to make it here before anyone else, whether it be the allure of adventure, or a good reason to get out of the house and escape feeling confined. Regardless, he had eagerly accepted Asthar's summons to help with a task in Holodrum. Epona had been left behind in a nearby village, and he had taken off on foot to the mouth of the cave where their task laid, setting up a temporary camp of sorts and starting a fire to make his breakfast as the sun rose. As bacon sizzled in his pan, he ran a whetstone along the Blade of Legend. He knew it didn't need sharpening, but the repetitiveness of the action was calming.
He found himself in quiet contemplation, pondering his feelings as of late. No panic held his heart anymore, and even Zelda was able to tell how he walked with an air of confidence he had lacked for a long while. Unconsciously, his hand twitched, and he almost swore he could see the Crest of Courage on his hand, but he smiled, and with a small shake of his head, sheathed the master Sword and began to plate his breakfast.
He was kicking dirt into the ashes as he saw figures approaching in the distance, and stood up, stomping out the last remaining embers before waving to them, moving to meet them. He knew Asthar would join them personally, but the letter had mentioned a plus one. Oddly enough, he was happy to see the friend to the royal family, and as he approached gave another hearty wave.
It was a rather busy time in the land of Holodrum. Numerous requests were being made, from things like thieves plaguing the people and the requests for funds to aid the people for the coming days. The requests had come to a close for the day, but the main problem of the matter was dealing with said problems. Allocating one’s forces were important and Asthar managed to begin to do so rather well, but for the most part the most troublesome problem remained active and unsolved at the moment.
A deep sigh was released from the mouth of the male as he sat upon his throne looking upon the parchment with a furrowed brow. “now then, how shall we deal with this...” Asthar began murmuring to himself. A group of Moblins had been ravaging the harvest and attacking passersby and villagers. It wasn’t a necessarily difficult task to deal with them, but the problem was deciding on whom to send. “Who to send...who to send...ah!” Asthar murmured until the idea formed into his mind. “You there, do me a favor. Scout out a mercenary or volunteer for the following mission” Asthar said as he smiled at the soldier standing nearby as he handed him the parchment “Anyone will do and no need to be picky. They will of course be paid, though you needn’t mention that” Asthar said as he got up. “Bring word of who you find. I’ll be in my chambers...” Asthar said upon getting up and walking off.
Perhaps a surge of inspiration filled him at that moment, but the prospect was rather interesting. His thoughts were always on the girl of his heart. Aryllia was rather special to him, though he knew there was someone rather special to her as well and he wanted to get along with said person. Elinkar Queensguard, brother to Aryllia Queensguard. They had fought as allies through the numerous wars and yet they hadn’t really spoken as much, something that he was wishing to change. It was a simple letter, a letter that would detail the mission and request for assistance. The letter would eventually be sent and Asthar would merely wait for the response.
Fate worked in mysterious ways. The response from Elinkar would come with a rather positive response and soon enough a volunteer for the mission would be found. The moment he heard the name he just couldn’t help but burst into laughter. “Really now?! Him?! Alright, tell him that he is approved for this mission and that he will be paired with a mercenary named Delterogue” Asthar said with a smile. Things were beginning to form and when the scheduled moment came, the young king placed upon his shroud and took the role of the mercenary Delterogue. Standing upon the meeting ground he would be welcomed by the all too familiar Zora.
“NEXY! ITS BEEN A WHILE!” The king yelled in a rather cheerful tone as he grinned and grabbed the male back along in a headlock. “Working together again eh? Never thought a scrawny guy like you would apply for this!” Delterogue yelled as he released the male and smirked. “This’ll be fun. Come along, we have to meet with our third party member” Asthar said as he signaled for the Zora to follow along.
It didn’t take long for the two of them, especially as their meeting spot wasn’t too far, but in the end Asthar smirked as he walked up to Elinkar still wearing his shroud. “Yo! It’s been quite the longtime indeed. How’s Zelda doing?” Asthar said with a grin.
Me was at an inn in Horon after departing from his family's shop in the Sunken City. He had timed it well it seemed. His cousin was off idling his time dealing with the elders which allowed the Zora time to drop off his earnings and get his share. He would say little before hurrying away. Pan was never gone long and he would rather pluck each of his scales out one by one than have a conversation with that man. He was tolerating a bowl of porridge, slouched over the dining room table of the inn's facilities. He was going over a stack of letters just dropped off by the Postman that morning. There was one he deeply squint at as he red. If the hard gaze could start fires.
"Why is he like this?" He crumbled the missive in hand and desperately tried to unsee it. "I told that shit not to mail me his crappy love notes." As he muttered to himself a figure stepped into the less than reputable hostel.
Nex glanced up as the corners of his mouth uptured in a light sneer. A few hours later the Zora found himself being assailed by the man's words. His head turned away as he stood slouched with his cloak drawn over his shoulders. He narrowed his eyes, jaws seeming a bit tighter than they had last met and he bore a full set of clenched fangs. The shark was hardly amicable, on the surface. He pulled open his cloak to reveal the light scale armor underneath. It was simple, but well maintained.
"I'm not that thin, just tall, you scrub." Holy shit this was their king? "I swear to Nayru you give me a migraine." He sighed. "I will have you know I am a capable adventurer and have faced many a nuisances, present company included." Though his words seemed scathing and disrespectful it was not breath breasted on those he despised. It was the casual banter of one used to the familiar company of a fellow. "Let's hope this ally of yours doesn't talk as much as you." He looked away, seemingly annoyed, but Next was the sort easily embarrassed and his rather tsundere remarks were superficial irritation.
It was just difficult for him to express honest camaraderie. He's known so many to just vanish and it hurt deeply for one who bonded so strongly to individuals. He took friendships and acquaintanceships to heart. As they arrived Nex would reach his gloved hand to his face and rub his eyes with his thumb and forefinger. Of course they know each other. He wasn't too knowledge about the young warrior before him, but he would be remiss to disregard his mother's fawning over the Hylian legend, at least among warrior. He looked towards Asthar with a distinct, incredulous gaze. Rolling his eyes he looked away. He tried to think of how to greet the stranger but his tongue was dry and his head spin. How long has he been quiet? It was hard to tell what they were even saying he was so deep in his thoughts of despair. This man was to casual. It threw him off.
"Greetings." He sounded cold and uninterested, but he knew not what to say. "I'm Nex." That hardly seemed a name at all a Zora would have. Perhaps just a title? "This brute's company... and friend." He mumbled the last bit, feeling a little unsure himself. Not everyone cared to be considered a friend by such a sour seeming fellow.
