PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION: As a child of a merchant family, Jin is pretty good at talking to people, be it strangers, friends, and the like, and will often do his best to make others feel more at ease around him. The reason being is that he would much rather have people look at him in a positive light and not in a hostile manner, as he is not a fan of fighting, can he avoid such an encounter. Even if things have gotten to the point where he feels like he must defend himself through his blade, he will still try to calm the situation down and settle things non-violently, but he knows that won't always work.
Even though he is good at talking with people and making himself seem trustworthy to others, he often harbors doubts about those he encounters, always keeping an eye on people he is unsure about. Very rarely will he let his guard down around people, armed or not, until he has a better grasp on the situation. He is the same when it comes to locations, for a strange area can be more dangerous at times then a strange person, so he does his best to study up on places he might travel too beforehand.
Having spent a good chunk of his life in the desert, dealing with monsters and the occasional bandit, Jin tends to find a little peace of mind if he can relax around lakes and rivers, preferably near forested areas. While the dangers of bodies of water and dark forests are still on his mind, being around life settles his mind much better then deserts or mountains. That said, Jin hasn't really had a lot of experience swimming, and tends to avoid water any deeper then his waist if he can avoid it, not wanting to push his luck.
If he doesn't have too, Jin won't force himself in a conversation, and will sit off to the side observing others, taking in the conversation to learn what he can. He can also find himself lost in thought more then he would like, observing things around him instead of paying attention to things happening right then. As a bit of a habit he took from his parents, when trying to make encounters with others easier on himself, he turns on his 'charm' so to speak, often flirting with others, no matter race or gender, in attempt to make people see him in a better light.
While he doesn't mind speaking about his past too much, Jin is a little defensive about what happened to his family's business, and why he tends to keep his arm hidden beneath the armor. He was trained in a manner to keep any weaknesses hidden by Cana, the Gerudo Woman who raised him, and as such tends to keep his left arm's condition a secret. It's also thanks to Cana that Jin has a respect for the Gerudo, their culture, and their fighting techniques, which is why he tends to use a scimitar above any other blade. That, and he is quite fond of the Sword Spirit Heb, that resides within the Scimitar he found.

HISTORY: Born into a Family of Traveling Merchants who traveled between the three Kingdoms, selling goods between Tribes and Cities with Merchants from any Tribe who wished to join them. Jin's early years were fairly simple, as he was taught many basic things about the world, about places they traveled too and about the large Island they called home. He had teachers from many different races, who would teach him things about their cultures and knowledge they had gained. Almost every day he learned something new and he loved it, though the story of the Gerudo would often attract the most attention from the boy.
On one trip through Hyrule, the Caravan headed deeper into the Gerudo Desert then they originally planned in a plan for safety, as their scouts spoke of a large band of Moblins that had made camp along their usual trade route. Believing themselves safe within the desert, they ended up spending several days moving deeper in to the desert to avoid the roving Moblin band. After around a week in the Gerudo Desert, Jin had wondered off in the afternoon, playing 'Gerudo King' with a wooden sword, pretending to fight 'Moblins' that came to bother their Caravan. He had wondered a little too far from the Caravan when a Sandstorm swept through the area, separating young 8 year old Jin from his family and the Caravan.
Jin woke up temporarily blinded because of the sandstorm, and a woman was there to take care of him and nurse him back to health. Upon getting his eye sight back, Jin was greeted to an older Gerudo woman, who had introduced herself before as Cana. She made sure that he had clean clothes, fresh food and water, and within the cavern she had made into a home, a place to sleep. However, while she promised to take care of him while he stayed with her, she refused to bring him out of the desert to find his parents. Upon asking why, she said that only those strong enough to find their way out of the desert would be able to leave, though she promised to keep an eye on him if he wanted to try, and to bring him back if he failed.
This caused Jin to mistrust the woman greatly, and while he was thankful for her care, he felt that he was more of a prisoner then a guest. For years he would try to escape the desert, and for years he'd fail to escape, but the more he tried the more he learned about the desert and its dangers, and he grew older, smarter, and more capable each trek. Soon he was able to determine what was safe to eat, how the weather shifted and flowed, and the beasts and dangers of the desert and where they lived. However, even with all his knowledge he would never last more then a couple days in the desert before either passing out or needing to be saved from something.
When he was 18 years old during one of his treks out into the sands, Jin was confronted by a trio of Lizalfos that quickly cornered him and attacked with the intent to kill. Using a strange old scimitar he found, Jin fought against the lizard monsters the best he could, even being able to defeat one of them with the scimitar, cutting it down. However, the victory against one was shortly lived, and one of the Lizalfos slashed at him and cut Jin down along his left arm, leaving it damaged and his use of it diminished greatly. Unable to defend himself, Jin was panicking and figured he was about to die, when Cana appeared and defeated the two Lizalfos with grace and ease
They spent the night in a near-by cave, and after some first-aid on his arm, the two of them made their way back to Cana's cavern, Jin bringing the scimitar and the armored gauntlet of the lizalfos he defeated back with him. Having a new-found respect for Cana, Jin begged her to train him, to make him stronger and more capable in combat, and for the next couple of years Jin learned how to fight with his disadvantage. While he learned from Cana, Jin would also assist her in several things about her cavern, including picking up supplies from the Gerudo Fortress on occasion. These trips got Jin a bit more used to normal Gerudo living and treatment, being treated more like a servant to Cana then anything else. This laid a foundation for later visits, making it easier for him to get close to the Gerudo Fortress.
The armored gauntlet and scimitar now became a staple in his combat, and with proper training, Jin thanked Cana for the years of care and training, and made his way out of the Gerudo Desert with relative ease. He would soon find his parents, though to them he was nothing more then a nomad until he introduced himself and told them about what had happened to him. After everything, he explained told them that there was much he still wanted to do though, and with their blessing, began to explore the Island and all the hidden secrets it had.
APPEARANCE
HEIGHT: 5'9"
WEIGHT: 164lbs
APPEARANCE DESCRIPTION: Jin has a thin form that is well built, his strength betrayed slightly by his appearance. His hair is long and brown, moving a little past his shoulders, while he sports a small bit of stubble and a goatee on his face. He is mostly without scars or marks on his skin, and his skin has a light tan to it. The only scar he has is a long scar on his left arm that goes from just below his shoulder down to just above the knuckle of his ring finger , and it impairs his ability to move and use his arm in a normal manner. His face is gentle but a bit worn, and his eyes are brown in color.
At it’s base, Jin’s clothing consists of a tunic that hangs down in the back, worn over a thin cloth shirt. His pants are a pair of sarouel that are ripped slightly on the bottom and a pair of leather wrap sandals. On his forearms and shins he wears leather wraps that have a pattern similar to that of Gerudo style.
Over that, he wears a large scarf that wraps around his shoulders in a manner similar to a shawl that drapes down his back a good amount and his right arm slightly. The same scarf he can use as a turban while traveling through the desert. Wrapped around his waist he has a similar long cloth that hangs down to the left side. He also has a second belt that hangs loosely off his waist with a couple of cloth pouches.
On his back, lightly covered by his scarf, Jin wears a Turtle shell-shaped shield that has a leather belt that wraps from his upper left shoulder to his right hip. His right arm is normally equipped with a full arm shield stolen from a Lizalfos, which covers from his hand to the middle of his upper arm and is held in place with two leather belts that wrap around his shoulders and around his chest.
He also has a Scimitar he uses on rare occasion, which he wears on his waist in a simple leather sheath, with the handle of the scimitar being a crimson color with several amber gemstones on the hand guard and the pommel of the handle. On the back of the belt he has a smaller dagger, used for carving and cutting, and not so much for battle.
