The Wanderer of the Plains returns to the cold woods...
in the cold woods, footsteps could be heard stepping and walking through, the view shows a trail of foot prints in the snow. the View turns up and shows a dark figure walking in the distance. Next we see the figure in question, the rumored wanderer of the plains, in the woods of winter of all places. The wanderer's name, is Quin, and he was looking for something, what he was looking for not even knows for sure. Quin gazed at all the trees around him as he walked, always ready to bring out his sword and shield if danger approaches. Eventually he walked into a large opening in the woods, he saw hills and such everywhere, all covered in snow. he heard a rustle in the woods behind him, and had his hand on his sword handle, ready to use it. he got in a stance, ready to take on anything that comes out. A wild wolf jumped out of the forest, ready to bite him, he quickly strafed to the side, and brought out his sword and cut into the wolf's neck all in one move. the wolf went down fast and it died quickly. he had his shield out fast as well to bash into another wolf that was trying to bite him. the wolves surrounded him and all tried to attack him, he did a spin attack taking them all out at once, but more wolves showed up. 'So many!' he thought to himself, wondering just why there were so many wolves around...he was poised and ready to fight back. his helm still casting a shadow over his face, though the lower half of his face was still shown. his cloak waving about in the wind.
The soft crunch of fine leather boots in the snow was all Silvana had heard since she had gotten lost in this terrible place. The cold stung her exposed legs, a worrying sensation but not a fatal one. Her legs were dry at least, and as long as she kept moving he was confident she would not freeze. Thankfully, she had the strength not to let the snow drag her down. The idea that she might have to fend for herself in the wilderness occured to her, but people tended to be a bit more understanding of one's plight when it was this cold out. Now she just needed to ... find a... town... The sound of a wolf crying out and some growling noises caught Silvana's attention. She didn't hear all that much, but wolves tended not to be as noisy as their domesticated cousins anyway. This indicated that perhaps there was a fight going on. Diverting her attention to that, Silvana shifted to rest her hand on the pommel of her ethereal blade in preparation for a fight.
...Cloaked in red and sporting an oddly inappropriate mini skirt for such cold weather, the 5'2'' girl calmly approached Quin from a distance, easily visible as light reflecting from the snow in turn glimmered off of her rather ornate armor. Her race was an enigma. Appearing Hylian or perhaps Sheikah on account of her pale skin and crimson eyes at first glance, she almost passed for one of the two if not for her distinctly round ears. Several wolves took notice of Silvana's approach and diverted to surround her, not wanting her to flank them. The girl stopped in her tracks and wordlessly shifted her eyes, barely acknowledging Quin as she prepared to be attacked.
"Greetings~" Silvana remarked in a distant yet inviting tone, moments before a wolf made its move and charged her, lunging for her neck as wolves are wont to due. Silvana turned to meet the wolf, reaching out and catching it by the neck. Another wolf made its move, attempting to take Silvana from behind. However, her breastplate had a neck guard that prevented it from getting a good grip on her. Putting the squeeze on the wolf Silvana had caught, the mystery woman calmly crushed the animal's throat and wrenched its neck aside rather violently before dropping the fatally wounded wolf in the snow. For someone with such fair and gentle looking skin, she fought with alarming experence. As she did this, she turned to shove the other wolf trying to get at her neck off of her, drawing her blade and warding it off with a quick sweep of the sword. The blade looked as if it were made of glass, making it rather questionable how effective it would be. Yet, wolves knew nothing of this. It was sharp and the wolf didn't want any of that. The wolf would bide its time, waiting for an ally to try and take Silvana by surprise.
This wolf went for Silvana's legs, but found that it wasn't as clever as it thought. Knowing full well where her weak points were, Silvana's guard was up and she caught the wolf with a low sweep of her blade, cleaving into it and sending it to the ground. The other wolf promptly attempted to take advantage of this distraction and jump her, but once again Silvana predicted this and spun to drive it into the snow with another slash. Her glass blade, somehow unbroken, was now stained with blood. With two simple movements, she executed the fallen wolves to put them out of their misery before moving forward to approach Quinn.
he heard her greeting but was focused the wolves around them. in inhuman speeds, he proceeded to impale one, throw it's body at another wolf, while shield bashing another attacking wolf coming from the other side of him before killing that one too. another large amount surrounded him and he did another spin attack to kill them all. 'okay, that's do-' he looks and sees another wave. he sighed, and narrowed his brown eyes that were covered by the shadow cast by his metal wolf helmet. his mouth curled into a frown. 'just how many wolves are there, and how many must we kill before they back off?' he wondered, then he noticed that the wolves stopped, and a shadow began to be cast over Silvana and Quin, noticing the shadow he looked up and his eyes widened. "that's a big wolf..." he muttered. the Great wolf growled. he narrowed his eyes and reacted quickly, just barely dodging the lunge it did as the wolf attempted to swallow him whole, thankfully he dodged, and did a large back flip to get some distance.
the great wolf also tried to use it's tail to smash Silvana into the trees. after this the wolf will do a loud howl, signifying the beginning of the field boss fight. the screen OOC wise shows the name [GREAT WOLF OMEGA]. (OOC: makes you wonder what the Alpha will be like...)
Crack! Silvana was smacked with the tail, leaning back into the blow at the last moment and bracing herself for impact. Where had that wolf even come from, and why? She could only try and control her balance as her momentum was violently shifted backwards, dragging her feet through the snow for a couple of feet before losing her balance against a hidden rock and falling on her bottom. "Ugh..." Silvana remarked. Just perfect--Now she had snow where she didn't want snow. It really made her appreciate the heat of her homeland. Thankfully, her body was tough enough to withstand being smacked like that. She was sore, but she would not die. This was useful, because the wolf had just made a mistake: turning its back on her. Taking advantage of this, Silvana launched an attack of opportunity! Readying her sword and arcing around the wolf's tail, she made a beeline for its thigh and attempted to get underneath the giant wolf, throwing herself up into it and attempting to cleave a nice big gash in its bicep. With any luck, she'd cripple the beast and render it even more vulnerable for a followup attack. As much as she wasn't amused by this intrusion, a part of her wanted to kill this wolf. She wanted to be known for slaying it. Surely such a feat would be something to be proud of. This sort of thing was the stuff nicknames were made out of! Who needed to be called Ms. Arles when she could be called Ms. Wolfsbane?
the great wolf could smell Silvana coming from behind, so it jumped quickly to the side, now facing both Silvana and Quin at the same time. The wolf left snow craters with the landing with it's feet. the eyes oddly enough, showed some more intelligence then its much smaller counterparts, not much more, but it was still more. the wolf then put its mouth on tree bark, it bit into the tree, and ripped it out of the ground. now holding a large wood weapon, it charged at them, intending to smash them, Silvana first. Quin back flipped out the tree's path. and Charged in intending to get in close. the wolf did a spin intending to knock Quin off, he ducked dodging the tail. only to get smacked by the tree, which he blocked with his shield, he may have avoided some damage from the tree, but it didn't stop it from sending him flying though into another tree, either way he is now injured by the trees and can't afford to make any more mistakes. he silently got up and glared at the Wolf, and charged again. the wolf wasn't even paying attention to Silvana at this point, as she got out of the area, or was at least watching. the wolf broke the tree to make it easier to handle.
the Wolf swung what was left of the tree from side to side, he rolled under each time to avoid the hits, but then the wolf tried a vertical strike to the ground, he side jumped out of the way and got closer, using his inhuman speed, Quin got in close enough to land a blow, he struck the leg hard, managing a cut on it, it flinched back, but kept moving as normal. 'okay...' he did a short glance at Silvanna, 'whoever that was probably ran or something' he focused on the wolf, which tried once again to hit him with it's tail. he bashed the tail with his shield to knock the tail back as it struck, and followed quickly with a downward strike on the tail, cutting through, immediately after he got smashed by the broken tree into the snow. the wolf jumped back, but it was clearly pained now. Quin was stressed now as well, not overly stressed but he was also breathing a bit hard, he could feel the bruises the trees caused. a rib or two might be broken as well, but he wouldn't let that stop him. he had to win, because he had a feeling that this wolf was not gonna stop hunting him if he tried to escape.
...That was a goddess. damned. TREE! Silvana could feel her heart drop into her stomach as an actual, freaking tree was whipped at her like a weapon. The mage-knight dropped into the snow, deciding that being cold and uncomfortable was the lesser of two evils in this situation. The now thoroughly terrified girl got back onto her hands and knees, not willing to stand up while that tree was still being thrown around, only to witness something she could not believe she was seeing. What was happening?! That man was just smacked with what had to be incomprehensible amounts of violent force and was still standing. ...What? It was surreal, impossible as far as she knew anyway. But hey, she was just some kid that left her people. What'd she know? Almost as impressive was the way he managed to cleave through the giant wolf's bone, tissue and fur in single, powerful strokes. ...Huh. ...Huh. Welp. She was clearly out of her league here. When Dark Link looked back to check on her, he would find a very upset Silvana trying to back away from the scene. She awkwardly flashed a thumbs up. H-Hey, y'know what? Maybe being a wolfsbane wasn't all it was cracked up to be! You take this one, friend! You've definitely earned that title. I'll be right over here, trying not to die from exposure. The mage-knight wasn't sure how she was supposed to escape a wolf that big, but this stranger looked like he had it covered. Hopefully, she'd live to see a less crazy day if she just... didn't try anything stupid. ...Like try to fight that wolf.
he glanced over and saw that Silvana was actually terrified, 'have to win!' he ducked to dodge another tree swing, rolled forward to get closer, resisting the pain he was feeling as he went. the wolf tried to use its now cut tail, only to realize once again that its tail was gone. using this to his advantage, Quin got in close and stabbed the Great Omega in the leg, using his strength to cut into the bone, thus crippling it, and making it drop the tree as it howled in pain. he didn't bother thinking and just jumped onto the wolf's back, ran to the head, and impaled it right down to it's brain, thus putting the wolf down. he got off the wolf, and glanced at Silvana before collapsing, the adrenaline ending, too tired to think about the loot. little did he know that he was gonna get something much better out of it then a mere item.
Silvana was no less confused by this series of events than the previous ones. The crowning moment was when the strange man abruptly collapsed after performing some frankly insane acrobatics. That had gone from 110 to 0 in a very short spn of time, but... It was what it was, she supposed, which raised some questions about what she was supposed to do now. Surely this superhuman monster of a person wouldn't succumb to the mere cold, but... what if he did? There was a smaller wolf closing in with hopes of getting an easy meal that finally drew Silvana to action. Eh--She wasn't going let this happen. Reluctantly pushing her sore body forward, she brushed some of the snow that was now melting on her thighs off and shook her hands free, attempting to mitigate the cold as she intercepted the wolf.
The wolf attempted to nip at Quin's shoe, seeking to drag im away from Silvana. However, it wasn't quite fast or strong enough and soon backed off a bit as Silvana stepped over Quin defensively, standing over him but not quite stepping on him. She wasn't too concerned with Quin lookng up right about now; she was pretty sure he had more important things on his mind. The mage-knight leveled her seemingly glass blade, still stained with blood, at the wolf. For a lon moment there was a standoff. She could catch glimpses of other wolves stalking them from a distance, but with what she assumed must have been their leader slain, they would be disorganized and confused. There was a good chance she could drive them off simply by standing her ground, if she made herself out to be intimidating. The wolves were likely too stupid to recognize that she wasn't responsible for her leaders' death. After a long moment of biding her time, Silvana took a deep breath and hunched forward, imitating a pouncing predator. She then barred her teeth and emitted a guttural, shrill scream of a growl. It probably wasn't the most intimidating sound a human could make on account of her effeminate voice, but it was certainly enough to spook the wolf. The wolf scrambled to get away from the threatening mage-knight, scampering to a distance. Silvana watched several other wolves flee, likely the entire rest of the pack. They would likely be going to lick their wounds.
the wolves had left, and he laid on the ground, he could feel the damage he had taken. 'toughest monster I've fought so far...what was it after though?' he thought to himself. he looked and saw that Silvana had scared the wolves off. "Thanks" he groaned out. after a bit of struggle he managed to force himself up. he got a good look at Silvana, and looked at the large dead wolf behind them. "I was traveling to a cave that had a fireplace set up four years ago." he forced himself to stand up, put his sword and shield away, and put a hand on his ribs, feeling the damage. he walked over and picked up two wolf bodies, and began walking, "we'll talk there if you want, better then being out here with what you're wearing." he stated, clearly not wanting to be out here for much longer at this point with his injury, but at the same time could clearly see that Silvana was not wearing proper cloths to stay out in the open in this place for an extended period of time. as he walked he felt a sting of pain and fell to his knee. "could use an assist..." he groaned out.
...Unbelievable. Right back up again and performing heavy lifting. Why did she even bother trying to help? Something, something, having a heart. She really ought to go back home at this rate. Somehow she had more dignity getting beaten up by her sisters. But... he wanted to talk to her? What for? She didn't feel like she'd done anything worth celebrating. the mage-knight reluctntly moved to trail behind Quin, putting her sword away and tenderly holding her stomach with one arm. She wrapped her cloak around herself with the same gesture, now wet and uncomfortable thanks to her fall in the snow. Hearing his plight for help, Silvana would hesitantly open her arms and pull Quin into a side hug, allowing himself to rest against her for support. He was decidedly warm, as was she. "...Honestly, I'm surprised you have time for weaklings like me." Silvana remarked somewhat light-heartedly in response to what had just transpired. She seemed somewhat distant, probably hiding just how frustrated she actually was with her own inadequecy. It was hard fighting your whole life and realizing it just wasn't enough, which was readily apparent by the seemingly supernatural feats she'd witnessed today. She was pretty sure she would have not only not been able to walk, but have died if she'd taken a hit that heavy. I mean, she'd never tried it before but she just got the feeling that she wasn't up to the task watching it. How'd he get so tough, anyway? Did the ice here train the body even better than her desert homeland?
he felt Silvana get him standing straight again, "thanks." he heard her mention her weakness, and her wondering why he had time for her. he felt confused. why would she ask that, he honestly isn't sure. "why would you say that?" he asked with genuine confusion. every time he looked at towns he always saw people with eachother all the time. he often wondered, what it would be like to be in the company of other sentient beings. he asked this as they approached a cave, the very cave where he first woke up.
Silvana glanced at Quin from under her cherry red bangs, watching him skeptically for a moment. Was he mocking her, pretending he didn't know what she was talking about? ...A long moment would pass, but she relented. It seemed like an innocent enough question. "...I don't know! It just seems like with all that strength you'd have greater ambitions than to hang around with some errant nobody." Silvana replied, some of the distance vanishing from her voice. Honestly, why wasn't this guy saving the world or some such? Clearly she'd wandered across some sort of great warrior. Surely this couldn't be the best use of his time. "...By the way--You don't feel so good. Maybe you should take it easy for a while." Silvana went on to remark. ...Was she babying this superhuman? It felt weird to advise someone who was so very clearly operating on a different level from her. She was a little curious, if not slightly wary, of Quin's apparent friendliness. What was up with that, and why was he meandering around out here in this icy hell? Was he just a wanderer, like her? ...But why would he wander i he had that much power? She'd be off in a heartbeat using that power for her own goals if she had it herself. Stepping into the cave with Quin, she would guide him over to ... Well--Whatever looked like it might have once contained a fire.
once in the cave, he sat down on a rock, it would not be best to move for awhile till his ribs have healed. he pondered her questions, he looked around the cave. "its hard to explain." he sighed as he looked at the former campfire. "but yeah, I should probably sit here for awhile till I get better, lets set up camp here, use the fire pit here to get us warm, and use it to cook up some grub." then he paused for a moment, "oh sorry, I forgot to introduce myself." he removed the metal part of the hat, which revealed his face and hair. then he held out a hand. "I'm Quin!" he stated with the look of someone clearly new to social interaction.
...Hard to explain. A simple question ought to have a simple answer, but there seemed to be something Quin didn't want to tell her. It was something she could respect, as there were some things about herself that she wasn't interested in telling him either. For example. "...You may call me Ms. Arles." she replied, making a pont not to give out her first name. That was a privilege reserved for those ... closer to her. Although the formality reeked of hylian pretentiousness, it helped Silvana feel more secure in her new identity. Perhaps someday she'd have another name she could call herself by without it feeling like an anchor to her past. Crouching down before the fire, Silvana began to work trying to resuscitate the flames. It was a trial, as the wood was already well charred, but after some struggle with a shard of flint and a steel plate she managed to restore a humble fire. It was a little sad. "...Well Quin, it seems like this fire needs some more fuel." Silvana remarked rather lamely. Getting back up and brushing herself off, she glanced over her shoulder. She supposed it would be left to her to retrieve some wood. Perhaps she could make use of that tree the wolf had ripped up. "Do you think you can handle the cooking if I go out and hunt~?" the mage-knight went on to ask, her expression twisting into a smile. She knew the hylians had some frankly heretical sounding gender roles that the gerudos obviously didn't share, and was having a bit of fun poking at them in front of Quin. It didn't seem particularly mean-spirited, however. Rather, she was amusing herself with a light-hearted joke.
he got a name, which was good. he felt amused about the 'fire needing more fuel' bit, and gave a short chuckle about it as he put the helm back on. at the cook and hunting bit, he gave a laugh. "sure Ms. Arles! not like I can exactly move around much like this anyways." he stated casually mentioning the injuries. he grabbed some wood that was in the cave, and brought out a knife to begin skinning the wolves he had brought in, mainly to set up Arles with a fur cloak, after skinning the wolves, he put the new fur cloak out on a rock for her to grab.
