Her eyes were heavy, stiff with the fatigue of weeks with no movement, and the sudden onsets of mixed emotions. The grief came in waves and threatened to consume the Heiress entirely. It was her master, for now. She was at the mercy of it's whims and at times it bit at her with such ferocity she feared it would leave her an empty shell. [break][break] It had only been a few hours since she had woken up, and already she felt as though her efforts were all for nothing. The loss of her sister and the Labrynnan Zora Prince changed things entirely. Eleazar was ready to kill her people. [break][break] She had summoned for the hero, but in short, it was taking too long for someone to grab his attention. Whether it was her irritability mixed with her frail thoughts, or the grief had struck a cord with her sanity, she became rather frantic and impatient. As another servant had entered the room, she could barely control herself from snapping to be more persistant. [break][break] Slamming the door behind the servant, she breathed unevenly before falling into her bed, balancing herself on it as she stared into the fabric of the quilt perpetually. She was silent, her breathing still once more, and suddenly she felt nothing but a pit in the center of her chest. [break][break] Her emotions played with her like a rag doll, taking control at random and causing her to act impetuously. She would describe her sadness like death by a thousand paper cuts, for every time she remembered her loss it was another cut to her already damaged mind. None were enough to kill her, but overtime their accumulation bled her of the humanity she had once had. She once was gregarious and generous natured, now she was just gaunt and melancholy. [break][break] All she wanted was to see him. All of her efforts had to be for something. She ouldn't explain why, but she felt a sting whenever her vulnerable mind questioned why he hadn't met with her sooner. Why have you been awake for three hours and your lover still has yet to meet you with haste? [break][break] Four years of praying and searching for answers all paid off. At least she got one thing right. And he'd be there to see her face to face soon enough.

or once, his mind was clear, sharp, with a primary focus on what he was doing. The clarity scared him, but what scared him more was how Zelda was. He had heard mention of her being conscious, but lost track of the time while trying to search for the origin of that mysterious voice. But this, this was so much more important.
The sounds of his running caught the attention of others, mostly servants going about their business, but they had little time to get out of his way before he barreled past them, sliding around the corner to Zelda's quarters. There was no thought, no hesitation, as he pulled on the latch of her door, opening it.
And in the moment that he looked at her, he was frightened.
He hadn't seen her, the actual her, in four years, and all the memories of having her in reach, only to be an illusion, flashed before his eyes. Regardless, his hand reached out, and he grit his teeth as it clenched into a fist, falling at his side.
"Zelda."
She was upon her bed, and for a brief moment he had the concern that something had happened, but he saw her breath rise in her body, and went over to her. The bed sank under his weight as he held a hand over her, unsure about touching her, before placing a comforting palm on her side. His thumb gently rubbed a circle against her, and he tried to speak, but words lost him. He struggled for a second with what to say, before choking out a response.

His voice caught the air and hung in suspense, as though she was waiting for something to drop and shatter to the ground. Or to wake up and it was all a dream. She felt his weight shift to her side as he sunk into the mattress, but she didn't know what to say. Was it him? Was it really him? [break][break] It sounded like him, but was it really? [break][break] His hand moved to her side, assuringly tracing her with its gentle touch as his voice spoke more clearly, but still with shortness. She turned over in a huff, hoping to meet familiar eyes, and as his line of vision crossed with hers, she felt as though she were crushed beneath the goddess's hands. [break][break] Not much had changed. He was visibly aged, but not how she had imagined. His hair was longer, his eyes were tired. Was he skinnier? She could barely make words in her own mind as she glanced from place to place to register his presence. [break][break] She of course, may not have changed much at all... other than her lack of regality. No longer constricted by the modern fashion of a noble, her hair was unkempt. Her clothing were simple. Perhaps the most obvious change was her hardened gaze. [break][break] She went blank. She had no idea what to say. All she wanted to do was look at him; it stirred memories of her childhood, like when her mother rewarded her with a gift she worked so tirelessly to obtain, and when she finally received it, she didn't even dare open it. She just wanted to admire its packaging; the fact that it was hers. [break][break] Her hand moved up, and as it did, her body moved from its laying position and she knelt on the bed beside him. Gently, her fingers cusped his cheek before tracing the flesh and pushing stray hairs out of his vision. [break][break] "H-how are you feeling?" she mumbled out. She didn't know what else to say. She was so captivated by his presence she almost forgot about her own grief.
