Well, yesterday had been a nightmare. Oh he'd managed to get everything that was required for their outing in Clock Town as he planned, but then things had to go to hell with the appearance of an escaped criminal and the return of an actual deity for the first time in twenty years. Really, was she just going to be a pain in the ass on and off as long as he was ruling? He supposed then that it was a good thing he had that mask so he could keep scaring her off whenever she showed up. Also helped that he was able to rip some knowledge from the head of the spirit within, help prepare him for the next time. The new sword at his hip was proof of that. He had some protections for the two of them that seemed innocuous and in all honesty, he had to admit it was better than his old sword.
And thus he stood outside her fountain, alone for once. Oh she was gonna kill him for this. A day late. An entire day late for their planned outing. Really, he wasn't sure what he was going to say. He figured he could just tell the truth, he figured she'd believe him, he just wondered if she'd accept it. Although what else did he have? There wasn't much better he could do excuse wise than "I was fighting a literal demon god returned to the world." He hoped that would be an acceptable instance. Would she even know of Majora's return? Surely news of what had happened in Clock Town had spread, perhaps she would have heard of it? That might make things slightly easier, but only slightly so.
Stepping inside, he brought the kite, chocolate, a basket filled with their favorite foods (she may have said his, but he always thought of her too) and red cloak with him. He still figured red would look good on him. He himself looked rather... regular. Hair down, a simple white shirt with a dark vest over it. A pair of breeches and boots. Really, the only reason he was able to do this outside and alone was because in this state, he was pretty much impossible to recognize as the Emperor. But other people who knew of it would see right through it. He just hoped the fairy inside didn't judge him too harshly.
fortunately for Alexander du Ikana, ancestor of a king favored greatly by the fairy known as Kindness to most... well, judging him harshly was exactly what she planned to do.
"You're late," the words were spoken the moment he stepped foot into her fountain. With her arms crossed firmly over her chest and a slightly red glow surrounding her--a bad sign since she never liked letting her magic seep out enough to illuminate her body--she looked far more intimidating than she'd ever allowed herself in his presence. Sure, years ago when she took to the front lines and danced in the heat of battle, she'd been an undeniably terrifying sight, but this felt far more personal. Lips marred in a tight line, cheeks flushed with obvious irritation, eyes narrowed to focus up the height gap between them.
Oh, yes. Lycoris looked royally pissed.
She didn't look anywhere else besides his face. If she didn't abruptly start walking toward him, it might have seemed worse than it really was. Because the moment she was within arm's reach, she reached out and wrapped her arms around his neck in a tight hug, propriety be damned.
"Are you okay?" It became rapidly clear that her anger wasn't over him being late. Not at all. Not be how fiercely she clung to him, her entire body tense and expression difficult to read. Partially thanks to keeping it pressed against the side of his neck, her breath coming out in small warm puffs of air. "I felt something I did not think I would ever feel again."
There was no way she could have known what happened. Not in full. But the fact was that the extremely unnatural energy flooded her senses out of the blue, followed by the fact the emperor stood her up didn't set well with her. At all. Because it would have taken a literal demon god to delay him without notifying her.

Oh yeah, she was mad. He'd really done it now. He dun goofed. Alex held his breath as he waited for whatever she'd throw at him. Emperor or not, there really wasn't much he could do when it came to defying the Great Fairies. That and he really didn't want to defy Lycoris and he really did feel bad about standing her up. The red aura wasn't helping. He didn't even know that they could do that sort of thing. Well, in hindsight, near omnipotent magical beings, so something as simple as an aura should have been easy. But still, wasn't that going just a little bit overboard in conveying how furious she was with him?
Or well, not with him. He let out a sigh of relief as she threw her arms around him, showing that while furious, he didn't seem to be the target. So that told him two things, one, the outing was still on, two, whoever she was pissed at was in for a world of hurt. Alex did his best as awkwardly positioned himself with everything he was holding so that he could wrap an arm around her waist and pull her close, taking a moment to enjoy the pleasant feeling he got simply by holding her to him. "I'm fine. When I was in Clock Town getting everything, we ran into a criminal, Alastor, that had been on the run. We chased him down to the Clock Tower." He started to explain. He didn't want to take too long, they had to get to their destination~
So he'd just keep it brief. "He had kidnapped a child, and planned to use them as a sacrifice." The kid was alive, he would be fine. Probably traumatized, but he'd live. "It worked... somewhat. The child was released unharmed, but he managed to summon Majora, who proceeded to seriously damage the Clock Tower." Rebuilding was already underway, it wouldn't take too long. The fact that he'd been there personally for the event had been a bit of a morale booster for Clock Town. "That's what kept me away, I had to fight Majora and keep her from fully entering Termina." Especially considering how far he'd gone.
Still, it didn't justify him being so rude to a lady! So with a squeeze from his hug, he could only let out a soft "Sorry." He wasn't sure what else he could do there. Least not yet.
o the force that pulsed across the land of Termina, stretching out to all four corners where her sisters responded just as she had, indeed came from the one that caused chaos only a few decades prior. What would happen if it became a reoccurring threat? Worrying or not, there wouldn't be much they could do. Attempt to seal it away and bide time for the Four Giants to awaken once more, yes, but beyond that, none of the Great Fairies stood a chance against in that fight. Together it was possible to hold their ground for a period of time, but scattered and one on one, they'd be easy prey for a second time.
She still remembered how it felt to have her body scattered. It wasn't any experience she found herself in a hurry to go through again. The child that gathered her pieces would forever be held in high esteem, and should their paths cross, a far grander blessing than a sword would be his.
Closing her eyes, she relaxed a margin when his arm found perch on her back. It didn't dissipate the anger that rushed through her, not nearly enough as she wanted it to, yet it served to root her back to the moment and attempt to focus her aggravation elsewhere. He didn't appear hurt, neither mentally or physically, and his mood seemed relatively spirited despite what he went through.
Still...
"I can help with the tower." Lycoris opened her eyes and pulled back enough to peer up at him. Her arms stayed in place, showing she had no desire to immediately disturb the embrace. A rare thing, and something she'd become greedy for if she allowed it for too long. A few more moments didn't hurt.
"I wanted to go see the ocean, but it..." The white-haired fae bit down on her lower lip, glancing to the side. "Clock Town would be better. There will be people who are worried after what happened, and if you spend the day there, it would bring them comfort. I can work on assisting with repairs." It'd be a shame to miss out on the original plan and play hooky. Life had a way of making things less fun, didn't it?
Oh well.

That sounded like Lycoris alright. Give up her one day in who knew how long to go spend it helping the others. Really, it was part of what made her so endearing to him, the idea that she could be so selfless and caring for others. But, he had to put his foot down, he really did. As it was, she already did so much where she could, she deserved a little Lycoris-time. "Oh no you're not." He chided her ever so slightly. She could get pouty and disappointed or whatever all she wanted, but the fact he pulled away and put his hand on his hip with a rather stern look made it clear he would not approve. "I did not fight Majora just so you could blow our day out helping with the Clock Tower." He huffed.
Besides it was just the Clock Tower, damage to Clock Town itself had been mitigated pretty well considering all the pains he'd gone through. "Clock Town is doing fine, aside from the initial murder we discovered by that pirate, we're still alive. I didn't take my guards in with me to fight Majora." He remarked, rather proud of that particular fact. Yes, not many people could say they confronted Majora by themselves and lived to tell the tale... well, whole anyway. Technically the fairy in front of him had survived, but from what he had heard, it'd been an awful experience.
Tapping the pommel of his new sword, which he'd brought for protection, as well as the side effect of not being recognizable from his other blade, he did concede, just slightly. "If you really want to help, you can bless this thing, and the armor that goes with it, later. Specifically later, when we're back from our trip." Besides, that sword was already special in its own right, a spark of the divine, something he'd forged just to deal with Majora if and when she came back. Oh yes, he would do everything he could to make sure that if she appeared in Termina again and dared to wreak havoc, he might be able to put her down for good.
But that would be another day. For now, they had something else to do. Holding out the picnic basket for the fairy to take, and moving the kite over to his back, he stepped around her to try and drape the cloak over her small frame... while simultaneously nudging her towards the entrance to her fountain. "Now, we have an ocean to go visit. Move it, move it!" She was looking so forward to this, Clock Town would be fine, he wasn't going to let her spoil her own day.
h no you're not," came words that preluded the rest of the emperor's thoughts, earning a small startled squeak from the fairy far too content to stay right where she was. There were a hundred things she could try to protest, and the majority of her wanted to do exactly that, but it was the small selfish voice she listened to. Because when would the next chance arrive? And more importantly, how long did she have to enjoy moments like this when there would be eons more of missing them to come?
Smiles on the faces of those she once knew. A deserted wasteland of memories stole their place.
"Okay," she replied with a soft laugh. "To the ocean it is."
- - -
The view stole her breath away. Watching the world through enchantments paled in comparison to being there in person, to feel the ocean lap her bare ankles and the salty breeze tease her long white tendrils. Lycoris stretched her arms out to feel how nature's energy moved about, leaving wisps of magic behind in the most alluring way. It was, to say the least, absolutely invigorating.
When she turned to face him, she was all smiles. "When was the last time you went fishing?" With a childhood like his, there was no possible way he hadn't done that many times in his life. "I thought we could borrow a boat and take it out onto the water, fish while we do a little snacking, and that sort of thing."
Come to think of it, her experience on dat- err, outings wasn't extensive. How pitiful.

In hindsight, the kite was a good idea. A real good idea, as he watched it soar harmlessly in the ocean breeze. He had to admit, it was a good plan of hers. He took a look over at Lycoris, seeing how she was faring. Really, being out at the beach suited her, she always seemed so much happier than whenever she was cooped up in the fountain. Really though, why wouldn't she? Nice as it was, beautiful as it was, it really didn't compare to the beauty of the outside world, and he wished there was a way he could heal her. If she could leave that damn fountain then well, the possibilities were endless.
When was the last time he'd gone fishing? Well the truth was not for years and years. Really, it was something he was sure he could still do if fishing was what she wanted to do, but he was surprised. "I haven't gotten my own food since my family's fortunes changed, really." Really why would you? Part of the enjoyment of it all, especially when his siblings were involved, was that his siblings got to be pampered by various servants, just as they should have been from the day they were born. If anything, he only really felt some regret over the fact that it took him so long to get there.
But a boat, well that might be a problem. "Anyway, if you know where we can get a boat," Without exposing each other's identities. He could always just commandeer one as the Emperor but that would defeat the point of it all. "Then by all means, let's head out to sea and see what we can catch." Honestly, what was the worst that could happen? He knew how to fish! He was pretty sure he could still harpoon even.
