Perhaps asking that she siphon his magic was not the best idea. The relinquishing of energy would leave him quite in comparison to now, but at least he made the offer. Hearing her concern for him was enough for Balthazar to smile softly.
He did not expect her to forget his transgressions to lightly, but she was at least warming up to him since his entrance a few hours ago. It felt akin to their time spent together previously, yet he had a different mindset.
He watched her demonstration, and a sensation of pride and relief set over him. lips curled at the end and he let out a slow clap for her. In the moment she appeared more youthful and happy with her end result.
"Before you go head strong through there, I am going first," he said before walking past her and up to the threshold. The immediate opening appeared safe and he didn't notice any further entities. Perhaps the rest of the temple would be carefree, or at least he hoped. "How much farther until we reach the room with the potential relic you seek?" he asked, curious about it's whereabouts moreso than having to give up the remainder of the he could spend here with her, "We could rest here for a while if you need it."
Midna didn't know how to react to Balthazar smiling at her at the notice of her concern. She wasn't sure if her concern was founded on the genuine care of Balthazar or the fact that he had saved her life, and in some sense, she did owe him. The Queen was sure she couldn't outright trust him, at least not so quickly again, but she needed his help and here he was willing to help.
Her celebration of her solution was a bit childish, but Midna was always excited about solving a puzzle that would stump her. And in all her research there had been no answers to these puzzles, those that wrote of this temple had so conveniently forgotten to mention it.
She watched Balthazar go ahead of her and pronounce the area clear before she followed him in. Pulling from her pocket the information of the tomb which included a sketchy map whose accuracy she wasn't completely sure of. "According to this, there are several rooms and some complicated hallways between here and the main room. All the information for what's inside is quite vague," she tells him, studying the map while chewing on the inside of her lip.
"There should be another door to the next hallway on the far side of this room."

Pushing open the specified door, glowing eyes peered down the hallway. Intricate pillars, and stories manifested on the walls gave the impression that they were about to finally find their prize. Beyond the giant lumbering spirits from before, they faced little resistance; in fact, Balthazar thought he would keel over from the amount of dust in the air rather than facing a few lowly monsters.
At the end of the lengthy hallway, was another doorway, though this one was not simple in design. In the center of its face, was a keyhole, to which he had to ask, "Do you have this key?"
It could have been hidden in a prior room, or even somewhere else inside the temple. Or worse, lost outside the temple never to be found again. The door was not something that appeared like he could force his way into, and he sensed magicked wards keeping the room safe from intruders.
To have come all this way for nothing, was a disappointment he did not wish to see on her face.
She peers around Balthazar into the long hallway, waving a hand in front of her face to scatter the dust away from her. It was thick here, this part of the temple the least disturbed throughout the ages. Midna steps in after her companion, satisfied that this particular hallway is quiet and settled. "At least this space is peaceful," she comments.
The door on the far end though, was a surprising disappointment. Of course there would be something so simple as a key behind the complications of magic, enemies, and ancient puzzles. "Well, our prize is supposed to be behind this door. All information on this half of the temple is speculation at best as you can see, it has not been disturbed for quite some time. I do not have a key, but I have an idea." She seems to study the map in her hands for a few moments, pacing the empty hallway in thought.
After a few minutes, Midna looks up from the map and stops just before the midway point of the hallway and stares at a wall. "According to all my research this should be a doorway. If it does not have the key, it should have access to the main room. Otherwise the architecture of this place makes no sense, and neither do any of these supposed scholars," she tells Balthazar, not bothering to look away from the wall.
"I think it's purposely hidden by magic. And I might be able to break it." A few minutes of concentration and a large chunk of what little of the ancient language of her people she knows and the wall ripples like so many mirages of the desert around them and reveals an intricately carved door. "Hah!" she exclaims with a smirk before looking back at Balthazar, triumph in her eyes.
"Care to che--" she's interrupted by the sounds of rhythmic metal thumping originating from the concealed door. No doubt the magic used masking sounds as well. "You know, it would probably be best if you did go first."

A myriad of emotion was cloaked behind hues of amethyst. Curiosity yearned to be sated as passion burned bright, though it seemed that destiny sought to foil their ambition. Balthazar spoke no words in combination to his original disappointment, his desire to see Midna achieve her goals being his sole reason for remaining at her side. He planned to succumb to whatever outcome would happen, whether they would be fortunate in any find, or if they would mark this attempt as a failure. Crossing his arms, the assassin waited, shifting only slightly in a effort to rid himself of the lingering dust and dirt that clung to his garments.
After a few moments, he wasn't surprised to see that his companion had found a way to circumvent the barrier, lips turning up in a smile parallel to her own. Her ingenuity and conscious reasoning amazed him, and Bal would share in her triumph for only a short time before turning to face the undeniable sense of dread and fear that would crawl over his skin. There was something waiting for them beyond that threshold, and he would come face to face with it in lieu of his queen. His Queen.
"Don't come in till it's safe.. Alright?" He knew that she wouldn't be too far behind him, but he would remind her that her safety was paramount. Instinctively his fingers flicked to hover over his belt, brushing against the cool metal of each hilt, mentally preparing to face whatever would await for them inside. The temple had quite an array of defensive elements, and he wondered just kind of variable would be placed at the end of their challenge.
Centuries had passed since anyone had the means to bypass the final barrier of the temple, the magic locking the hidden relic away from prying eyes faltering. And though Midna was capable of uncovering the magic to unlock the door, there was a second layer she had not caught behind it. The metal clicking of gears was all they heard as the door opened, and before them sat a large automaton, slumped against a pedestal in the room, centuries of dust covering it, to the point where any distinguishing features weren't immediately noticeable. A cloud of dust blew from the room, sweeping around the feet of the Twili interlopers.
It is time once again... Sister. Let us eliminate the intruders.
Along the perimeter of the room, torches began to light, half burning an unnatural shade of red, the other half blue. The whirring of machinery would catch the ear, and slowly, the figure in the middle of the room stood. The dust began to shake off, revealing a dull brass, reflecting the light of the torches, and the eyes of the figure began to glow, matching the contrast of the torches. At its full height, the feminine automaton stood tall, near 10 feet tall, with its hands each holding a crystal burning with magic. It took a step towards them, standing between the pedestal and the Twili. It was almost as if it was watching them momentarily, before the blue orb was pointed at Balthazar. A blue fire bolted out in his direction, and at the point of contact, ice burst forth, freezing everything in the vicinity immediately.
The battle had begun
MIDNA and BALTHAZAR vs. TWINROVA SENTRY
Any step into the room would cause a wall of fire to burst between them and the sentry, but there seemed to be something laying against a wall, something seemingly reflecting the light of the torches in it...
Whatever joy she had held at solving the mystery was flushed from her the moment Midna saw what awaited them. The giant automaton, centuries old and beginning to come to life at their presence was a sight to behold. The Twili Queen was just as awed and curious as she was afraid of what power was contained in the creature.
It had been so dark in the temple, and the preferred light for a Twili that as the torches lit up, Midna winced away and squinted as her eyes adjusted. The flickering lights bounced off the automaton giving the creature an unearthly sheen amidst all the dust flying through the air. For once, Midna was almost willing to listen to Balthazar's word of caution, and she gladly let him go first, but followed along closely behind him. Lest he forget she was fully capable of defending herself.
As the two entered the room, fire sprung up at their feet and Midna stepped back suddenly, the heat and light abrasive to a woman of the shadows.
The flames cause Midna to barely notice the bolt of blue light that shoots towards Balthazar, reaching with her magic a tendril of shadow magic lashes out as she throws her arm forward catching the bolt just in front of the duo and sending ice shattering around them in a chaotic spray and sending a sudden harsh chill down Midna's spine.
"You have to be glad I don't listen sometimes," she comments lightheartedly despite their situation.

The echo of his footsteps interrupted the eerie silence that encompassed the duo. A blazing flame sparked, encircling the room and filling it with intense light. A quick glance affirmed that their way out was now blocked, --that this was all a deadly trap. By the degree of severity, he could assume they were more than close to their goal. Standing before them was some kind of mechanical figure, much like the ones they faced before, however it was clearly modeled with a female in mind. Just from observations, Bal could sense the vigor it possessed, and that this one would not crumble as easily as the previous metal structures.
Before he had the chance to completely grasp their surrounding and the general make up of the room, Balthazar was fired upon, --the concept of it using a ranged weapon took him by surprise--, and he braced for impact. However, only a shower of ice and chill fell upon him, as shadows stretched out to protect him. A sigh of relief slipped past his teeth, despite the lack of gratitude in his gaze.
He felt distracted by her presence.
"I will only be grateful if we make it out of this alive....", he readied himself, watching for anymore sudden movements before whispering towards her direction. "You are more discerning than I, --if I give you some time, will you be able to locate it's weakspot?" Every creature, object or creation had one, and they just had to discover what it was.
They chose not to take the initiative, but they would not be given the same luxury. As the automaton stood taller, two more arms emerged from side panels, ending not in metal hands, but blades, somehow unrusted with time. They used shadow magic, played the defensive, and that was taken in.
Its gaze turned to Midna, and as it did, it began its approach, faster than one would expect, and pulled an arm back, swinging its blade in the space Midna was occupying in a brutal crosswise slash. Whether the blade took purchase or not, the blade would be buried into the ground, and pulled out with some clear effort. But there was no need to worry about multitasking, as the head turned on its joint to Balthazar, holding the fire orb up in his direction and sending a torrent of fire.
A closer look at the back of the automaton showed a glowing sigil, almost remniniscent of an eye...
Midna does not take her eyes off the mysterious automaton guardian. Pulling back her arm and readying her magic for another blast of magic towards the creation, she replies to Balthazar quickly, already working on a plan of some kind.
"Do your best to keep it away from me," she says, and as her eyes adjusted to the light of the room, the flickering catches her eye, something lying on the ground across the room. "There's something over there, what are the odds it aids us?"
She is contemplating getting past the flames somehow when the automaton reveals two bladed arms, one of which raises and swings towards her. The swing is swift, and Midna barely pulls herself to the side and into the shadows between the torches and flame light. From there, she is grateful for the natural talents of the Twili, as she practically melts into shadows and pulls herself across shadow and wind to the shadows between torches on the far wall. She reappears, the sentry now between her and Balthazar, its attention would have to split to keep up with the both of them, and hopefully, that worked in the Twilis favor.
Midna goes for the object against the wall, with any luck, it was a weapon against the sentry.
