One could almost be amused by the speed in which Farrah whipped around to defend her efforts. Of course it could be argued her sudden contention was an indication of guilt. Still he did not think she was the sort who could gut some hapless whelp. If that were so he would have fallen victim thrice over. There was a striking feeling of deflation at the thought. Once he was worth the challenge … now what?
When the water was set down before him the Zora would almost hear a choir of warbling songbirds as his parched tongue was finding itself stuck to the inside of his cheek. He quickly took up the offer and leaned forward so his long arms could stretch out and grab the poffered drink. His eyes narrowed when she dropped her ass inches too close to him. Pulling the glass to his mouth he would bubble against the surface a bit in complaint, but he could do little else of it. It wasn't his home. Reluctantly accepting the proximity the Zora would huff into the glass, drinking the rest of the water without contest.
He would eye her before placing the glass back down. "I don't know many." As if it was the most obvious thing in the world!
He reached up and behind his head, crossing his arms so he could pull his cloak clean off his form. He sighed out and slung the cloth over the arm of the seat, looking to Farrah, frowning slightly. He wondered if work kept her so busy she only knew enough people to count on half her hand… good! As if he'd want to socialize with more people anyway. Though it would occur to him, his eye squinting.
"Now I know you have to have done something sketchy to have indoor plumbing. Surely Gerudo women are not so spoiled to all have running water inside their homes." Though they probably did.
Honestly it was like living among barbarians having to be neighbor to Horon citizens.

Perhaps there was a time in which Farrah would have laughed at Nex for drinking his water as if it was the last cup of water on the planet, but now Farrah was just worried. There were a bunch of 'what ifs' floating around her head. They were mainly centered around the thought of him being so close to dehydration he didn't bother breathing while drinking the water. So to put her mind at rest, she got up once more and took his cup to refill it again. [break][break] Instead of coming back with just the one cup though, she brought two, and put them both in front of him. "Drink as much as you want. I know the desert is pretty rough on you." Hopefully just another two cups would be enough for him, so she sat herself back down on the couch. [break][break] She was only a little offended when he practically called her spoiled, but she was just as disbelieving of him as he was of her. "I'm not spoiled. It's just that such conveniences are more common nowadays I think? When's the last time you stayed in a permanent residence anyways? You're a merchant, yeah? You move around too often to have a permanent place." She stuck her tongue out at him for good measure, so he knew she was just playing around with him. [break][break] "Of course," She would grin and lean in a little closer to him, "My home is your home, so feel free to stay here whenever you find yourself around. You can stay as long as you want too! Though I only have one bed so we'll have to share." He could try to argue against sharing a bed with her, but Farrah was prepared to whine until he rolled over for her. She would win if he made this into a battle.
While Zora weren't necessarily incapable of dealing with some heat, Nex had never been very good at dealing with the heat, but it was fault of his own, frankly. He wore a skintight wet suit that covered his body from neck to ankles and a water resistant cloak that was normally work by sailors to aide in keeping warm on the open seas. Gloved hands, thick trousers: the fish was roasting in his own clothing, even of the darker color helped fend off some of the sun's rays. The water helped cool off his belly, the sensation of cramping noticeable when he was hot. He hadn't eaten since arriving in the Town. Last night.
He watched her depart to fetch another glass, the brute reaching up to rub at the right side of his face trying to smooth out his features. She seemed all a huff at his comment. It wasn't as if he was incorrect in his assertion! She was quite beloved by her family and given all she needed to maintain herself in such a way. He leaned forward to pick up the second cup, his eye narrowing at her as he greedily supped from the glass. He sputtered, nearly breathing the water into his gills as she questioned the permanency of his body, but as the question morphed and shifted to be the result of his work he calmed down, barely managing to swallow.
He was rattled for a moment. The woman was too damn perceptive. It was great against their enemies but don't use it against him! He snorted into the cup, good eye turning away as his right one pinched closed. He seemed to be dismissing her concern, but he would finish the second glass and down the third halfway. He wanted to splash the rest onto his face… he stared at the clear liquid, mouth smacking together as he felt the temptation grow. He grumbled a bit, though his face deepened in color from its pale chalk.
"B-bed?" He ... He never really was keen on sleeping in beds.
Sure the lumpy sack, or a pile of junk, but a bed? He looked to her, the cup held loose in his hand and the bottom resting on his knee. His brows furrowed as he considered the offer. He wasn't sure he could even sleep in a bed, let alone next to Farrah. Wait. What?!
"W-with you?" He stiffened, sulking. "Can't we just go out to a lake or something?" They had oasis' right? "Besides it's still early." He glanced towards her room.
He seemed to be shifting between excuses to not go, but he was interested in the idea of seeing Farrah's toom. What did her room look like? Back home his was a little plain and cluttered. One could contest if anyone even lived there. He was curious. Setting the cup down he would rub the back of his neck.
"I'm not tired. But, uh. I haven't seen your room before..." It wasn't as if he'd ever offer her to see his, it was too embarrassing.

How cute. Nex was trying to find excuses to get out of sharing the bed with her, but Farrah wouldn't have that. "The nearest oasis is a day away." She immediately shot down his attempt at getting out of this situation, and continued. "And yeah, sharing a bed with me." She moved her body a little away from him and put a frown on her face. "Unless... you don't like me enough for that?" The thought did make her frown a bit more real than initially, but she had to remind herself this was all to get what she wanted. [break][break] "And I mean, I know its not even dark yet, but the sun is still going to set soon, so we should talk about the sleeping arrangements." The frown was still on her face and she looked off to the side. She wasn't actually upset, but it would be easier to move him if he thought so. [break][break] After a moment of thought, she looked back to Nex, with her hands picking at stray strands on her skirt. "I can show you my room if you really want. My bed is really comfy! So..." She looked up at him from beneath her eyelashes, fluttering them a bit, and asked again, "We can share the bed if you find it comfortable enough?" Farrah gets what she wants.
A whole day away?! He slumped back on the seat, head leaning on the spine of the couch. He let out a sigh as his legs splayed out, the man all but crumpling at the idea of having to travel any more in the day. No, forget that. He stiffened a bit when she seemed distressed by his disinterest. It wasn't that he did not like her. He hoped such a thing was obvious. But he never spoke the words or expressed the feelings expected of him. He tried, but his tongue would raise and his words would instead come out harsh and grating as opposed to soft and caring. He didn't want her to think that. It was a sour feeling that made his stomach twist.
"It's not." He agreed as his head lazily turned to look out of the window. "It's too hot…" Out there, but it was cool in here, cool enough that he took off his robes.
He didn't take his cloak off easily. It was his second skin and the way he hid himself from the world. He didn't expose himself to others without difficult justification. He closed his eyes before he turned to look towards the ceiling. He didn't sleep much anymore. He was always uncomfortable in the back of his wagon, by himself. He used to ride in his family's caravan where he was safe to relax, but alone he has to worry about larger predators, bandits and other despicable degenerates. He drew his hands from his pockets, arms pulling up and behind his head in a stretch. The wetsuit was tight on his body so it was easy to see his bones shift under his lithe frame. He was a bit thin, in an unhealthy way, but old habits kept him on a wire.
As a healer she would like recognize some of his maladies. He's like recovering from scurvy by his slow, sulking movements and occasionally complaining about soreness. Boy he complained a lot about that. His weak jaws and the blindness in his right eye... Some of these could be overcome, some less so. But he never spoke of them and they were only noticable to a trained eye or one who spent time around Nex, which Farrah could account for both.
He didn't want her to think that... But neither could he bring himself to tell her it wasn't true! He was torn and split between his desire to remain and his urge to flee. He felt a familiar tightness in his chest as he felt guilt well up from making her question his considerations towards her. And yet he failed at every turn to take responsibility for the feelings he stirred in her and that he led her to believe. He was trash.
He let out a disgusted sigh, mostly towards himself and a bit towards the idea that she might just cry about it. He didn't know how to deal with that. He could barely deal with his own. How do you tell someone that their pain hurt you? It seemed wholly selfish. He couldn't say such a thing. He couldn't console her like that.
"Fine." He relented. "We'll just see? I haven't slept in a while anyway. Kinda hard to sleep traveling so far." Getting from Horon to Gerudo Town as quickly as he did took its toll, even if it was just his horse pulling the cart. "Let's just hurry up. If your bed's shitty and lumpy I'm going to sleep on your wash closet's floor." And if she had a bathing basin even better!

A couple of things were quite obvious to Farrah. One, Nex was upset, and it was clear that her being upset made him upset, because what else could have done that in this situation. So she felt a little bad for kind of faking her own negativity, but she got what she wanted. Nex would consider sleeping with her, she need only show him her bed. [break][break] The second thing that Farrah noticed was that Nex looked just as unhealthy as always. She didn't really pay much attention to him taking off his cloak because she was used to seeing him in such unhealthy states, but the way he stretched really just emphasized how much he needed someone to watch over him. [break][break] "When's the last time you ate?" She had to ask. While she was super excited to move along and show him her very well decorated room (there was no shortage of pink which is the main reason for her excitement), she also needed to make sure he had food in him, because that body certainly said he didn't. [break][break] "I'll show you my room, but you have to promise me you'll eat whatever I make you for dinner afterwards." Two birds with one stone. Farrah would get up from the couch and lead him to the door on the left, closest to the living room. When she opened the door, it would reveal a fairly sized room. [break][break] The first noticeable thing about the room would be the queen sized bed. It was covered in various different blankets, all in the pink or red spectrum, and all of them as soft as she could find them. There was an obscene amount of pillows on the bed too. One real long one in the back and about five other smaller pillows, all with plain pink cotton covers. Were Nex to choose to lay on the bed, he would find that it was the softest thing he could ever lay on. A lot like a cloud, and incredibly comfortable for those who liked to sleep a lot. [break][break] The bed itself was in the center in the room, with the wood headboard against the back wall and two bedside tables on either end of the bed, and to the left side was a little seating area with two embroidered poufs, one white and one black. A small wooden table sat in between them with a book on top of it. (It was a romance novel, one Nex would probably scoff at should he find out.) On the right side was a rack that held all of her bedlahs, in various colors, but there was a clear majority of pink ones. A dresser stood to the side of that rack and took up the rest of the right wall. [break][break] Farrah walked into her room and unceremoniously jumped onto her bed, bouncing a bit before coming to a rest. "I promise it's super comfy."
There were a lot of reasons Nex chose not to eat very much, but regardless of the specific factors the primary deterrent was discomfort. Most foods were difficult for the Zora to chew so it would put a hard limit on his choices. While not restricted in his dietary selection he was Zora and primarily a piscivore through cultural tendencies, so his desire to consume land based meats or vegetation was a narrow practice further blocked by his inability to break down the foods in the first place. This left to adverse responses to meals not within the space of his usual selections which he knew to be fair game to eat.
Irrelevant.
Irrevocable.
Insufferable.
He kept his arms folded behind his head, her question filling his mind with an innumerable amount of responses to her query. The majority, of which, were hurtful demands of her damage that she'd find it appropriate to ask that. But it was well within her right to have concern for him, even if he lacked self respect for himself. He was still driven to survive so he ate enough to do just that. Sometimes he simply lacked the know how to separate the disingenuous advice handed down which was unfit for a Zora and ego. His gaze drifted towards Farrah.
He could tell her to mind her own business. There was also a choice to out right ignore her. But the thought of lying to her concerning his condition seemed the most vile of his atrocious thought pattern. His state hardened, glaring at her with the malcontent of his own indecision. Where normally he would bade the curious needling of outsider's to simply 'stuff it', it was harder to console himself with the idea that Farrah would just get over herself. All those thoughts crossed the span of mere seconds, creating conflict over a simple question that, for most, was simple.
He opened his mouth, seeking annoyed that he even had to answer such a rudimentary concern. "Yesterday." He scoffed and moved to sit up, arms pulling forward to raise to his feet. He felt like he was being negotiated with, bribed even. "If you burn it may as well toss it…" his backhanded way of pressing his preference.
His teeth… he was half the shark he was meant to be. Subconsciously the brute would reach up to rub at his jaw. What a shitty card he's been dealt. He followed behind her, eyeing the cooking area with disdain. Could Farrah even cook? He has never seen her cook. He was no chef himself but he could prepare basic meals. Broiled fish, gruel, anpan Shit -- he was just as useless in the hearth. Reaching up he rubbed at his head, ruffling his hair. As he grumbled he raise this head, eyes becoming wide at the sight.
Her room was brilliant, bright and full of color. He seemed enthralled, staggering towards the bedding. What was this mystical place? It was like stepping into a dream. The soft, pink color enraptured Nex's mind. It was a soft, warm memory. He shifted in a way that made his coral bracelets click. They too had a soft pink color and without his cloak the jewelry was clear in view. His attachment to them was an anchor that kept him grounded during some of his more critical spirals. In his dreamy state the Zora plopped down on the bedding, his eyes blinking as he leaned back, head turning to Farrah as he opened his mouth.
There was a chance he was going to complain.
There was a chance he was going to gripe.
There was a chance he was going to leave.
But he did none of those things. Instead he would him and confirm her assertions of comfort with a far off stare.
"I guess." He weakly agreed. "No wonder you're such a lazy ass." He pushed back, flopping on the bedding.
Holy shit his back hurt so much, but the bedding was do nice. His hands rest on his stomach, jaws parting a bit as he yawned. The Zora's eyes became lidded as he relaxed. He supposed he could understand why she was so resistant to get up and out of bed. This was stupid. He wasn't tired, but he felt so exhausted suddenly. He closed his eyes and he relaxed for a moment.
There wasn't anything here that could hurt him, was there?

There were a couple of thoughts going through Farrah's head at this moment. 'Goodness is my bed super comfy.' 'Man it's a little hot in here. I hope it cools down.' But the loudest one was 'Holy fucking shit he's so fucking cute.' It was like an alarm blaring in her head, repeating the same thing over and over. He looked like he was comfortable and he was resting his eyes and he looked like he was going to fall asleep and- and... She just couldn't handle it. [break][break] Originally, Farrah was laying on her back with her head turned to watch him, but she moved to change that, turning her body to the side to fully face him. Part of her was tempted to touch him. Maybe she would pet his hair or reach for one of his hands. But the other part of Farrah was too worried about ruining the calm facade he had on. She had never seen him so at peace. [break][break] "Did you want to nap while I make dinner?" She spoke just barely above a whisper. Goodness she hoped he said yes. She could just imagine how cute he would look all cuddled up asleep in her bed. It would be a pure sight indeed.
Nex was keenly aware of Farrah's movements to his left as he laid prone in the soft cushion. He was unaware of just hi painful the sitting position was he spent the day in until he was laying down. He often stayed sitting with his legs crossed and back slouched as he sold his wares or bartered for something a bit better. But being able to fully bury oneself in between cloud-like mats like this was liberating. He was not often able to enjoy resting in a bed and they were usually the stiff, aged beddings of a run down inn. This was a wholly satisfying feeling. Reaching his gloves hand up the Zora would scratch the side of his red face. She was close. He could feel her breathe tickling his ear.
"...s-sure." He mirrored her whisper.
Though he'd honestly lose his voice were he to speak any louder. Something about this situation was different from camping in the wilderness. This was more vulnerable, exposing. It wasn't an open space where you had to make do. In the privacy of someone's home you were expected to relax, but Next hasn't relaxed properly in what felt like an age. Despite his trepidations he started to drift. He felt a heaviness in his eyes and a weight on his chest. His hands had crossed over his stomach, almost protectively. His eyes slipped closed as his jaw became slack.
"…something edible." Though his edible usually consisted of something soft and malleable for his jaws to manage.
His jaws. They had gotten considerably worse since she last saw him. He used to at least be able to hold his face in a scowl with his jaw clenched, but now he was barely able to hold his mouth closed, looking as if he was constantly sneering. He would not rest long, his mind often finding it difficult to feel safe in a new environment. For now Nex would rest, a soft breathing replacing his usual open mouth sighing. Maybe Farrah could help him. His jaw was still attached to his head. Perhaps the damage could be repaired somehow. There was no saving his eye, but it would do for the shark to regain his bite. Perhaps with that his spine would straightened again.

Farrah really wanted to touch him. The gods would not be able to stop her if she decided to, but Farrah knew Nex well, and she knew for a fact he didn't like being touched without permission... But as he drifted off to sleep (Something Farrah quite honestly didn't expect to happen so fast or at all), the urge only grew. [break][break] "Cute..." She couldn't help but mumble out, not even loud enough to be a whisper. There was something satisfying about her crush friend finding her safe enough to sleep around, even if he didn't know it. Nex was always on guard. Farrah had never seen him let loose and just take a damn break. It was a bit stressful for her. Well, as stressful as a Farrah could get. (Admitablly Farrah doesn't really get stressed because she just avoids all situations that could possibly lead to such an emotion). [break][break] So taken in her thoughts of Nex, that she almost completely forgot that she offered to cook him dinner. Thankfully, one look at his physique reminded her that he was terribly under nourished. Remembering that, forced her to pick herself up from the bed (gently, so as to not disturb the sleeping(?) fish). [break][break] Farrah made sure to close the door to her bedroom on the way out, but made sure to look longingly at his picturesque sleeping face before doing so. [break][break] "Hmm... Whatever I make has to be soft for him cause of his jaw..." She mumbled to herself, pulling out a some cooking utensils and pots. "Curry should be fine but... Hmm, I should really ask him about his jaw. He's missing out on a lot of good food I can make." With her task in mind, Farrah set to work, trying her hardest to be as quiet as possible. Nex was 100% a light sleeper, so this was a monumental task. [break][break] By the time she was done, the sun had officially gone down. Farrah set the table and served the meal and then made her way into her room. She gently set herself down on the bed, facing Nex, with her arm holding up her head and then, at a normal volume, she said completely straightfaced, "Nex if you don't wake up, I'll kiss you."
Nex had a difficult time falling asleep without the rain. When he was young his mother would carry him up near the surface of the ocean on rainy nights near the lagoon so he could hear the rainfall. It was always a comforting memory that he had once scorned and yet when he pained most it was the first memory seeking to soothe him. It did not rain in the desert and the sweltering heat made him yearn for the sea, yet he was committed to his path because he had been coming this way to trade for years now, but as a result he would lose days and weeks of sleep because it rarely rained in the desert and was always freezing at night whereas the ocean was always warm... Laying on that bed had sunk him into its warmth and drew him back into a peaceful state of him he only had when it rained.
Sleeping light simply came with one's environment and the ocean was a dangerous place, the river having its own risks. One had to be ready to jump in the saddle and ride away. Yet Farrah's place was quite cozy. It was obnoxiously pink like her and many of the scents were familiar ones. It smelled like her. His spine felt light as his hands became heavy against his chest and he soon found himself drifting away. His body allowed it because despite his complaints of the contrary Farrah wouldn't purposely abscond with his goods and leave him for dead in the middle of the road. Despite his accusations, despite his wanting to not believe there were any left in this world to care for him...
He could almost recall the song he heard on the river that day. That girl with a hole in her bucket.... But for some reason he could not. Faint notes became more distant and replaced with the soft hums Farrah was wont to do when they sometimes rode together. It was dreadfully grating on such long trips, yet he never hushed her or bequeathed her to stop. Why was that? Well, stupid, he berated himself.
You like her.
He felt something hovering over him, his lips curling back as if to put his monstrous fangs on display: but the native sneer was simply a result of his squinting features as he tried to force his tired eyes open. She was hovering dangerously close to his face, his brows pinched down in his usual scowl. His heart was racing as his mind roused. The words she spoke crawled through his ears, causing the back of his head to itch. Was that a threat? One could nearly see him bristling like a cat set forth by a vicious hound. But what was this kind of play? He was the shark! He was the predator! He also smelled food. His pupils focused, well the one did, as his gaze fully focused on her face, her lips in his peripheral.
"What?" What the hell indeed. "Who the hell do you think I am?" What was he some contrarian?!
He had already been through this nightmare! It was a dream he often had that he relinquished his sanity to on the rare full moon. Farrah would hover over him and demand such a thing and he could not give such a costly reward! The dreams often ended with him naked on a surfboard in the middle of the sea, absconded of all his material goods and without any shade upon his back. Perhaps that was his subconsciousness' recompense for his cowardly withdrawal. No way!
"What?" He barked again. "No way!" He reached up in an attempt to grab her shoulder to pull himself into a sitting position. Whether she held her own as he pulled up or she was pulled down by the surprise of his sudden, uncoordinated movements, he moved so that he could glare right into her face. He parted his jaws once more, a complaint at the tip of it before he pushed forward to take action over her threat and kiss the girl.
It seemed like something straight out of a dream, or in Nex's case a nightmare. Everytime he said no he would end up alone in the middle of the ocean. So if opportunity wanted to be an asshat he would grab it by the stones and drawn in his own incompetence. It wasn't as if he could not love, he merely feared the repercussions of it.
Unable to hold himself up from the sheer hunger the idiot fell onto his back and wheezed. "Hungry though." The kiss was short, but it was there, it wasn't the crazies! "What did you make?" He rolled over to stagger himself out of the bed. "Honestly I didn't know you could cook!" He was sure they'd both starve out in the wilds since he mostly ate dried fish and jellied squid.
He stood and looked to Farrah, waiting for her to answer.

She didn't think he'd take it so... badly? Well? I mean, this isn't the reaction she expected, but it gave her something nice didn't it. A kiss. She got what she had teased him about, but... was he blushing? He had immediately flopped back down and turned away from her to get up so she couldn't see. Meanwhile, she was still in her position on the bed, staring blankly at his back. [break][break] As Nex moved on to talk about dinner, Farrah's face grew hot to the point it was unbearable. She wanted to hide her face away, but as he turned to look at her, mumbling off about dinner, she saw his own blush on that stupidly pretty face of his and that just made her stare. [break][break] "Uhh... dinner? Um..." She couldn't tear her eyes off of him. "Yeah, I made curry. Maude taught me to cook." Her absentminded answers were only given to satisfy him, but she was thinking more important things. "Can I have another kiss?" [break][break] Farrah's eyes widened before looking off to the side, only realizing what she said after saying it. Her hands started fiddling with each other and her voice stuttered out quickly, "I- I mean... If you want. I just... sorry I shouldn't have asked. You probably only did that kiss for some weird reason..." Not that she thought he wasn't interested. Farrah had enough braincells to know Nex wouldn't kiss someone if he didn't like them. Embarrassment made her into an idiot though.
Curry, huh? It was spicy, but he didn't mind the spice. Not that he was one of these fellows obsessed with addressing their machismoism and consuming the hottest pepper fruit they could get their hands on. His digestive system had a rough enough time contending with his rampant alcoholism. He was glad it would be something easy on his jaws too. In his age he has become envious of the sorts who regularly munch down on still raw crustaceans and shuck clams with their jaws alone, of course that was only the gaudiest of Ocean Zora who showed off such skill. River Zora were too proud and used stones and knives like giant, annoying otters. He made his way too the door, reaching up to brush his gloved hands through his hair.
Door, the bloody door frame. That was what Nex walked into as his head turned to face Farrah with such a snap you would have thought him an owl. The crunching sound of his shoulder hitting into the wooden frame caused him to double over, mostly from the surprise as he leaned against it for moral support. Emotional support. It was his support for the moment as he held against it, acting as if he had simply tripped, which was more common than you think. He was, quite literally, a fish out of water most of the time. Getting Nex to walk in a straight line was harder than getting him to name ever bar he has ever had a fight in.
He raised his hand to his chest, mostly because his shoulder hurt, but definitely trying to keep his heart from wrenching out of his ribs. "W-what?" he bubbled a bit, reaching that hand up to wipe the corners of his mouth.
He thought he was foaming, but he wasn't. It just felt like he was having a heart attack, They say Zora at his age were prone to overstimulation and were known to just unexpectedly foam and embarrass themselves but he was sure that was a lie Pan made up and he was shitty for believing it, even if for a moment. Why would she want another? Well not that he minded but it was also something super intimate and wasn't once enough? Did he have that type of commitment deep in his icy heart? No definitely not ice. He was going to puke and he was relatively sober. His expression seemed to sink as he sulked against the wall.
"....cause..." He murmured at first. "Cause if I didn't I thought you'd leave me!" He seemed to raise his voice and realized. He shrunk down into his robes, tucking his hands into his pockets. "I had this bad nightmare sometimes that if I didn't kiss you if you'd ever ask you'd leave me...." Albeit with all of his shit stolen and in the middle of the ocean, but those were unresolved issues with his mother of no concern to Farrah.
He huffed and made his way to the dining area to settle down so he could eat. "W..." He fiddled with the spoon. "We can kiss again if you want, but I don't think I'm good at that kinda stuff." When he said that he reached up to rub the paralyzed side of his face. He was pretty self conscious about it. "I don't move real normal."

What is one to do when you see the cutest shit known to man? Her boyfriend tripping over himself in surprise at her question. It made her embarrassment seemingly fly away (Although it should be noted it took her sanity with it). All she wanted to do was tease him as he stumbled his way over to the dinner table, trying his hardest to respond to her. [break][break] Seriously, she wanted to ruin him. He was just so unbearably cute she couldn't help but want to tease him a lot. Of course he had to go and talk about bad dreams and saying she'd leave him or some crazy shit like that. She rolled off the bed inelegantly, but Nex wasn't looking so she was saved from that potential judgmental look. With quick steps, she followed after him and put her hands on the table, gently, but only as an afterthought of not wanting to startle him. "I'd never leave you!" [break][break] Her face was as red as her hair and her heart was pounding so loudly she thought he might hear it, but she was adamant about getting her feelings across. "I-..." She hesitated for a moment, but knew this idiot wouldn't be smart enough to infer her feelings unless she said it outloud. So Farrah took a deep breath and looked him straight in the eyes. "I love you." [break][break] Pointing a finger at his dumb looking face, she said it again, "I love you, so I'd never leave you. And that's why I want to kiss you so much!" That last part needed to be said for him apparently. Really why was she into such an emotionally stunted fish anyways? [break][break] But she wouldn't stop there. Farrah crossed her arms over her chest and pouted at him, "And it's totally okay if you can't kiss, we can learn together. And I can heal that jaw of yours too... I think?" Thank goodness she became a healer, huh. She can heal that jacked up jaw of him and get a ton of kisses out of it too! Yes! That will be the payment! "Of course, if I heal your jaw, you have to let me kiss you as much as I want! As payment! Also cause I want to!"
His legs felt heavy as he made his way to the table. It was like dragging stones in his boots, but his feet were bare and he felt an uncomfortable chill on the soles of his feet each time it made contact with the floor, a feeling that crawled up his back and into the base of his skull. His hand continued to rub at this uncomfortable feeling. He could not describe it, but it was not pain. It was a tension he had only felt one time before and it was in the sodden era of his youth where he was an ignorant fry who thought he understood the concepts of love and romance. By this age now he was more aware of himself as a person and of the mistakes he made. He was aware of the things he said to push people away and the lengths he went to maintain his solitude. Sometimes his actions backfired and he made others feel that he hated them, but in truth he hated himself.
For a long time.
He blamed himself for his father's death and he blamed himself for his mother being ostracized from his extended family. Though he was aware that a considerable amount of her distancing had come from the fact that River Zora and Sea Zora were not the kind to see eye to eye. It made him fully aware of his place amidst their oligarchy and that despite his ability to sell a man's own mother back to him they could never accept him for his father's decision to fall in love with one from another tribe. The wooden spoon would stir about the meal, pushing the curried meat into the rice as he pushed down the consuming anxiety that would come after such an assertion. Who would not be afraid of being left all alone? Who could relish in isolation....
Someone who was hurt by those he loved of course.
But he far from relished in it! It shielded him, it protected him! It did everything he thought a mother was supposed to do. And he could not have been -- so wrong. He was thrown to the wolves by his own ignorance that anyone had owed him an explanation or understanding. It was his job to create these opportunities but -- his mouth became dry at the thought of talking to others and in the end he just accepted the blood of the lies he told himself. It was a curse he placed on himself and it hurt and it made him incomplete. But Farrah: she had seen his worst sides and had never turned her back to him. He was callous and she laughed. He was angry and she shrugged. He had never meant to scorn her. He was hurt, he was afraid and never thought he would be allowed to change.
When she leaned forward he turned his eyes up toward the Gerudo, his own cobalt eyes glazed over by his embarrassment and imprisoned behind the cage of his dark hair that hung over his face hiding the scars of his past. Even still that bright red tattoo stood out against his pale skin and clearly marked the punishment he wrought upon himself for the sins of his kin. His left hand moved up to rub at his jaw. It didn't hurt anymore, but it still pained him to know that he looked so angry all the time. He was just sad though he didn't feel as lonely anymore. His mouth pursed, as much as it could as he was, before he turned to glance to her, unable to turn his whole face to the woman. His right hand gripped tightly over the spoon as his leg bounced beneath the table.
"C-can you?" He didn't want to stay broken if it meant he'd be unable to kiss her again. There were so many thoughts going through his head but what truly resonated with him were her previous words. "Even if I change, you won't disappear and leave me in the middle of the ocean?" He pushed his seat out and moved to stand to his full height. Turning the slouching male seemed to loom over the smaller Farrah. He had spooned some of the curry into his mouth, holding the spoon between his fangs. "I'd like to kiss again -- when I can move my jaws...I wouldn't want to hurt you." Those sharp fangs could tear into flesh and split crab shells. As weak as they were now there was no telling what his lack of control over the weakened muscles could do to her.
He tapped his hands against his sides before he lowered himself to pull Farrah into a hug. His grip would tighten if she allowed it. He didn't want her to see the tears that began to freely fall from his eyes. He still had his pride as a Zora. "I can't be the one to hurt you anymore if you say such things Farrah. If I'm to love you I can't hurt you, you know? I've been such a piece of shit..." He was such a hard person to be around and he had done so out of choice. "I'm sorry. If you'll accept it, I love you too."
