Natho is a fairly new addition to the Kokiri population. Born with an insatiable curiosity, and a never-ending desire for adventure, Natho was always ready to test his potential with any challenge he could face. He was also willing to test his boundaries, frequently exploring the more dangerous areas of Kokiri Forest, such as the Lost Woods, without sufficient preparation. [break][break] Fortunately, the Deku Tree saw this in his nature before anyone else could have, and in his near-infinite wisdom, assigned him Cepha as his guardian fairy; a zealous, mother-henning little fairy who would need all of her energy and tenacity to keep him in check. And, as is the way with most confident, charismatic children, he had many friends who looked up to him, and have gotten him out of scrapes multiple times. Recognizing this advantage in some deep recess of his mind that still knew the meaning of practical, he made sure to maintain his friendships as best he could, but he was an introvert at heart. He preferred to hang out with no more than four to six Kokiri and their fairies at a time, and frequently went off exploring on his own. Additionally, he could transpose himself into the place of an object he threw, or dropped. This allowed him to further explore locations others couldn't due to places being out of reach. As he practiced his throwing, he soon found techniques for hurling objects at greater and greater speeds. Even so, meeting the same people, playing the same games, exploring the same places... it was starting to get boring. [break][break] One day, while he was wandering near the borders of the forest, looking upon the open sky, he set himself down by a tree and daydreamed of what might lie beyond the Kokiri Forest. He knew the warning not to stray from the forest, that anyone who did would die. So, he'd never bothered to venture outside. Besides, the Lost Woods ran through a gorge below, so far down that no Kokiri would be stupid enough to climb down, or skilled enough to climb up. But he had grown quite good at throwing his wooden apples now. If he tossed one to the other side... [break][break] On a whim, he stood up, gave his best wind-up, aimed well above the far edge, hurled his best fast-ball, and transposed. It's momentum carried him flying through the air. Sailing over the drop, he let out a squeal of excitement as his hat plummeted into the maze below, Cepha chasing madly after him and scolding him. "What are you doing? trying to get yourself killed? 'Cause if you are, you're doing great!" In seconds, he landed on the other side, where the trees were thinner, the crash nearly breaking his tailbone. After recovering from the painful fall, he let out a whoop of celebration. He had escaped Kokiri Forest. [break][break] After taking a moment to catch her breath, Cepha questioned Natho once more. "Well, you did it. You're outside of Kokiri Forest. What now?" But Natho's mind had flashed back to the sign at the bridge. "I should be dead." he mused, curiosity welling up inside him. "The Deku Tree's sign says I should be dead. But I'm not." He turned to his faithful fairy, a quizzical expression on his face. "Why do you think that is?" This gave her pause. "Hmm... Perhaps you don't die just from leaving the forest. There must be some danger out here that will kill anyone who stays out too long. In that case, we'd best be getting back. The Great Deku Tree will be mad, and..." Even as she spoke, a chilling thought crept up Natho's spine, and Cepha saw true terror widen his eyes. "...and I'll be dead." [break][break] "What? That's silly! Of course you won't be killed for this. The Great Deku Tree loves you. He wants to protect you. He might punish you for this, but he would never kill you. Come back with me. You'll see." "No. Don't you see? If he wanted to protect us, he'd tell us what's out here that's so dangerous. The story would be enough to scare anyone into staying inside the forest, even me. Death is the punishment for leaving. You die when you get back." "No Way!" Cepha's voice was almost pleading with him now. "Look, I used to spend a lot of time with the Great Deku Tree. He loves you more than you can imagine. All he wants is for you to be back safe and sound. If you don't come back, he'll be worried sick about you. Come on. I promise you, he would never, ever do that to you. Trust me. Please, Natho?" For a moment, he stood hesitating, considering these words, caught between fears, before he shook his head. "No. There's no point. Even if he loves me like you say, I can't face him knowing that I betrayed that kind of love. I'll just have to brave the outside world, face any danger there is out here, and die, if that's what happens. But I won't die in front of father's disappointed face." With that, he took off, Cepha streaking after him in a blur of white light, with a call of, "Natho, wait!" [break][break] Before the calamity, Natho had been living in Castle town as a street urchin. A magical, teleporting, fairy-assisted street urchin, but a street urchin nonetheless. He got his meals by any means he could--at least, any means short of stealing--earning rupees through odd jobs, picking up scraps, or the occasional favor from a friend. But when he heard of Zelda and her heroes by chance, (or more precisely, by snooping,) a plan began to form in his head. He would go, serve the princess however he could. He would work hard, maybe someday be a hero. Then, when he had helped save Hyrule, he would return home to present himself to the Great Deku Tree. [break][break] However, about 400 years ago, that plan went out the window. Despite his best efforts, Natho failed to establish meaningful contact with Zelda or any of her heroes. Shortly after her sacrifice, Castle Town was razed, and he was forced to flee. From then on, he made a barely sustainable living by traveling from village to village, selling various useful objects and toys he designed himself. This meant traversing the wild lands filled with monsters, but he was used to making himself scarce, and had his faithful companion looking after him. As he wandered, he always sought out information about those who had fought beside Zelda, and thus he eventually found out about the Shadow Seekers. Delighted at last to have a chance to make something of himself, he made preparations for the difficult trek out to Snowpeak. Perhaps, if he could join these monster hunters, he could earn himself a reputation as a great warrior, and become a hero after all. Maybe then, he wonders, would his father forgive him? [attr="class","Vfreebox"] [attr="class","Vappfreeformbox"] [attr="class","Vappfreeformhdr"]Inventory [attr="class","Vappfreeform"] [attr="class","Vappfreeformtext"] SPELL OR ITEM NAME: Natho's spell and weapon are separate. [break][break] SPELL: Transpose - Natho is capable of switching his location with an object thrown or dropped by him. The object must weigh no more than 5 pounds, and be no more than 30 meters away. (Just under 98.43 feet.) The force, velocity, and motion are not maintained by the transposed object and person upon transfer, but swapped. So, if he throws something and then switches with it while it is in midair, Natho goes flying, while the object suddenly snaps into stillness, then drops to the ground. The object does not have to be detatched from all other objects, so long as it is not restrained by means of his grip. If the object is fastened to him, or anything else, any objects such attatched will attempt to move instantly to adjust with them. Natho can only transpose with an object once before throwing it again, but it must have left his hand before he can swap with it. Once an object has come to a complete stop, Natho has three posts to switch places with the object, or cancel his spell, per the maximum duration for common spells. If someone moves the object during this period intentionally, the spell is automatically cancelled. After he has teleported once, he must wait 1 post before doing so again. (Minimum cooldown for common spells: 1.) [break][break] Weapon: Throwing Dagger - A small blade that Natho obtained from a man who tried to mug him. It is a sturdy, simple weapon that serves him effectively as a shortsword. Daggers are light, fast weapons that rely on speed to land an attack, making them good for a surprise strike, but not as useful in sustained combat. Additionally, this dagger can be thrown. [break][break] RACIAL ABILITY: [break] + Eternal Youth: The Kokiri are forever in the appearance of children or young teens, and are agelessly immortal. They can, however, be killed by others. [break][break] + Guardian Fairy: All Kokiri are accompanied by a Guardian Fairy that acts as a companion for your character's journey. They are not playable races (yet), so they are controlled completely by the Kokiri player. If your character should fall, you can use your fairy to resurrect yourself. Doing this, would permanently lose your fairy guardian. [break][break] - Weak to Fire: Kokiri are woodland children, and have a weakness to fire. They will take extra damage from fire based attacks. [break][break] OTHER: Wooden Apples - Natho carries 4 crudely cut wooden apples with him in a bag, some of which he made himself while he was in Kokiri Forest. all but one are painted red, the fourth being yellow. Originally, he had 5, but one was lost when he left Kokiri Forest. He has lost a couple more since then on his adventures, but he always obtains new wood to carve and paint to replace them. Natho has never replaced the 5th apple; probably as a reminder of what he lost. Natho uses them as the thrown object for his transpose ability. [break][break] Wooden Carrot on a string - Natho also carries 1 painted wooden carrot attached to a 18.35 meter string, which he keeps tied to his right shoulder. He could have gotten a longer string, but 60 feet is already awkward enough to conceal. Once transposed, he can reel in the string, allowing him to re-use this carrot for shorter travel. [break][break] Paints - Natho carries a set of watercolor paint with him in his luggage. He uses these mainly for painting his latest carved fruit. He has had to replenish it many times, and is usually careful not to let any of the colors dry out any more. [break][break] Knot of bark - Natho's prized possession is a fragile piece of bark from the knot of a tree. It's surface and underside were left uncarved, but the edges were whittled to shape it to match the golden section of the Kokiri Emerald. When asked about it, Natho usually shrugs, and says, "it's my first art project." Judging by the craftsmanship, however, there is no way he made it.
