A princess’ first and foremost duty is to her people, and Cetus is certainly no exception to this rule. She is a protector of the values of her people, a voice for those who cannot speak as loud as she. Where some Zora princesses have come off as snobby or selfish, she chooses to operate with grace, doing what is right for her people over what she wants most the time. As such, she is much beloved of her people, and she returns that love whenever she can. As such, she is very charismatic and calm when speaking to others, an air of grace about her that never seems to fade. Emotions don’t rule her as much as others, unless the situation calls for it. But she is not known for outbursts of anger or impatience. Some say she has inherited the grace of a goddess, but she knows that to be absurd.

Being part of the Zora royal family means some degree of isolation, however, and with her only friend growing up being Seale, her handmaiden, she lacks some social skills to get by in a normal setting. She misses certain social cues, and doesn’t understand things such as nights out, the loud partying peasants usually have, or talking in large groups for an extended period of time. Despite all this, it doesn’t bother her. If anything, it makes her more curious of the world that is out there, one she intends on exploring.

Secretly, she’s a bit of a hopeless romantic, one of those who learned from books and long nights giggling about boys with Seale in their room. She longs for somebodt to catch her interest, but people treat her either too formal or as a trophy for them to show off. Neither of these are what she desires, and as a result, she has low hopes.

Her lack of physical prowess is matched by her affinity for the magic of water, and she has found that what comes to her naturally is commanding the aquatic wildlife. She can empathize witht hem, though the smarter the beast, the less likely the beast is to listen. She’s tried with the guardian of the Zora realm, the fabled beast said to reside behind their home, but has had no luck so far.

LIKES [attr="class","scroll"] Pagentry: The sophistication that comes with a life of royalty is something Cetus takes great pride in, as it allows her to physically represent the Zora race as a whole. Due to this, she has a love for lavish parties, with banners, jewelry, coronets, and all the other royal odds and ends you could imagine. Honor and chivalry are expected of all in her court, above all else. Swimming: This would seem obvious for a Zora, but Cetus enjoys it especially so, as she can swim among her aquatic friends. She will often be found in the great pools of her people, guards watching to guard her modesty as she glides through the water, as bare as her ancestors once were. It is a form of therapy for her, an escape when the life of a Princess proves to be just too much. Serving her people: Some have the false assumption that those under royalty only exist to serve, however, this is not true. The royal family acts as the protectors, diplomats, face, and peacekeepers of the realm, and Cetus is active in all respects. Her personality and charisma makes her a shoe-in for all these tasks, and as a result, she has an entire people’s faith put into her.

DISLIKES [attr="class","scroll"] Being alone: The prospect of loneliness frightens Cetus. Her whole life has been filled with people, and she’s hardly ever alone even to this day. But the thought of isolation, with nobody alone, is horrifying, and so she clings to those close to her as not to have to face these emotions. Storms: Not so much the rain, mind you, but the thunder. She always associated it with the stories of the great beast Ganon descending via a dark storm, and fears one day that will happen again, especially with everything occurring in the world now. War: While sometimes a necessity, Cetus can admit that she despises war. She holds no malice towards other races, and fails to understand why other races might want to hurt her people. However, this doesn’t mean she is afraid to retaliate if somebody lashes out at the Zora.

MOTIVATIONS [attr="class","scroll"] Welfare of the people: As stated before, her priority is the welfare of her people. No job, no matter how small or large, is too good for her loyal subjects, and she feels every Zora has the right to be as happy as they can be. She promotes this welfare to her people as well, in hopes that they may help perpetuate joy and happiness. Find love: She’s not exactly girl-crazy, but Cetus definitely wants to find some sort of connection to somebody. It has to feel right, but she’s confident her time will come soon. Besides, she’d rather not marry off to some snobby prince as a trophy anyways. See the world: Another goal she holds is to see the world. Occasional trips to Castle Town have always excited her, but she wants to leave her duty behind for a brief time, to see what the world has to offer. After all, her domain can only be so entertaining if you’ve seen most of it.

FEARS [attr="class","scroll"] Pandemonium: Cetus’ greatest fear is her life crumbling down around her. She knows the world is much harsher since the Goddesses shattered the Triforce, and that the Hero was probably dead, but she worked to help her people thrive, even from her young age. She doesn’t want to see it all be for naught, but the fear always tickles at the back of her mind. One slip-up, one foot out of place, and everything can crumble to dust. Invasion: Relations between the Zora and other kingdoms has been less than favorable as of late. “Less than favorable” is a term which in this context means “nonexistent.” Fears of attacks have been prominent, spurred by the lack of other diplomats, causing unrest in the kingdom. Monster attacks: For the most part, the Zora Domain has steered clear of major monster attacks, but the threat of one still lingers. If a large enough monster were to attack, they would have to rely on the guardian. However, with it not having been seen in generations, one cannot put faith in such a beast. Therefore, the Zora kingdom would be naught.

HISTORY

The history of the Zora royal family is a complicated and drama-filled issue. In the past, the royal family shifted from the pure Zora bloodline to one of a new Zora breed, one more humanoid, due to death and war. Many families pushed for the throne, but eventually, one bloodline settled in, ruling for some degree of centuries. Cetus is one of the many heirs of this bloodline, born to the king and queen happily, a peaceful child. Life for her as a youngster was relatively peaceful, raised by her nannies and handmaidens. But one handmaiden stood out among the rest, a child taken in by the family shortly after she was born. This young Zora, Seale, was special, born of the old Zora bloodline, and acted both as Cetus’ personal maid and best friend.

The two would do everything together, from reading books in the great library, to playing in the pools around the domain, to giggling together in forts made of blankets long into the night. They were nigh inseparable, and Seale acted as Cetus’ only friend. The only other significant events she grew up around were parties and royal courts, both filled with the pageantry of honor and grace. She began to develop a knack for the art of being a royal by watching what was going on, eyes on her mother and father as they would make royal decrees, or toast their guests, even when they ordered banishments. Silent, but learning.

The fall of the hero took place when she was thirteen, and the world was shook. The Zora domain, as a result, shut outsiders out, more out of safety than xenophobia. Cetus was kept in the dark about the events, only learning bits here and there. She does remember finding a strange golden shard one day, however, and has kept it since.

When she came to the age of fourteen, her mother took ill, a sickness that had her soon expiring. Cetus was distraught, but with the help of Seale, she managed to cope. Her father became crueler with his wife’s death, and started being harder on Cetus, eventually forcing her to perform royal functions, as he locked himself in his room at some point. Whether out of despair or anger, she didn’t know, but she knew she had to serve her people. Where her father was harsh and judgmental, she was level-headed and calm, doing what she felt was best for the domain before personal opinion. Many saw her as a just and loving princess, and she began to gain charisma among her people, no longer the silent princess.

As of recent days, her father has been stricken with the same illness her mother caught, and is bedridden. Because of this, she must serve her duties as protector of the realm. Recently, she has been looking into the myths of the protector of the Zora Domain, a great leviathan that once existed in a great ocean, before the Zora tamed it. It was rumored to be sleeping now, but she knew one thing: she wanted to find it. The wanderlust from her books hit, and as of now, she has Zora sent all over Hyrule, looking for leads.

APPEARANCE

Cetus stands at 5' 3", and has curly platinum-blonde hair she often keeps pulled back in a ponytail. Blue eyes offsets pale, flawless skin. Often, she is seen wearing dresses of lace, that fit to her slender, curved form. Though in court she wears heeled shoes, more often than not she walks around barefoot, enjoying the feeling of her feet on the earth more. The only distinction she shares with the Zora of old are inconspicuous gill slits, hidden high on her neck by hair, that allow her to breathe underwater.

She has another dress she wears for big events, which is basically an upgraded version of her simple lace dress. A black and white slip fits under the garment, and a black sash wraps around her stomach. With this, she also dons jewelry, earrings and a neck;ace made of silver and sapphire.

MAGIC

+ Gills and Fins: Zora are able to breathe underwater without the help of blue dye or a breathing apparatus. 

+ Swim Champions: All Zora swim at ease underwater. They are fast, able to fit in narrow spaces, and can outmatch any other race in the water at ease.

- Weak to Electricity: Zora are not very strong against electricity - especially since it spreads like wildfire in water. It can be fatal if exposed to enough, and they will take much more damage than other races.

AQUATIC COMMAND: Through use of her Magic, Cetus can command aquatic creatures to serve to her will. Unfortunately, the power of this spell is underdeveloped, and won't work on greater beasts. The smarter the beast, the harder it is for her to command them. In addition, the ability requires her to be in the same body of water, and she must devote a large amount of focus to use this magic.
