Lunai Fado Ridel
Courage
Hyrule
TITLE/NICKNAME: Ms. Ridel
RACE: Kokiri
AGE: 8
GENDER: Female
SEXUALITY: Vaguely Asexual
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION: Lunai is a quiet and shy individual with very little self-esteem and poor self-confidence. She constantly attempts to hide her dragon physiology in whatever means necessary, whether it be wearing her hair up in buns wrapped around her horns to try and make them seem like they're not real or wearing excessively long sleeves to hide her hands, which she in turn uses to hide her fanged mouth. Lunai is very sensitive and prone to crying. It would be accurate to say that she is even easier to hurt with words than she is to hurt with violence, on account of the strength she has inherited from the draconic amulet. Lunai resents her power, wishing only to feel like a normal girl. If you were to ask her and get an honest answer, which might be difficult, the power is interesting but she has little use for it. However, she is more than willing to use her power for what she perceives as righteous causes such as self-defense, coming to the aid of someone she cares about or defending nature if she doesn't see any other way to deal with a problem.
When tapping into her dragon soul, the second soul fused with her body via the draconic amulet, Lunai's personality shifts. The more she embraces it the more she loses her humanity, which is replaced by beastly instinct and the dragon's own personality, that of a proud and voracious predator that will gleefully maul anything that makes it angry. In extreme cases, Lunai's soul becomes suppressed and she loses consciousness, being replaced entirely by the dragon soul and becoming an actual monster until she is knocked out or otherwise forced to sleep. The dragon is not particularly evil, but does have a blatant disregard for the sanctity of life. It doesn't seem to enjoy being trapped in a little girl's body and seeks to get her killed by something or someone that would, in its view, better serve its purposes.
LIKES:
- Warmth: As a result of her dragon physiology, Lunai is cold-blooded and therefore has a hard time regulating her own body temperature. She has come to adore heat as a result, and will readily cuddle up to the warmest thing in the area when it comes time for sleep, even if that something is another person. A very easy way to make Lunai happy, although it should be noted that as her body doesn't generate much heat blankets and warm clothes don't work very well for her.
- Acceptance: Lunai is extremely self-conscious and will not feel comfortable around others by default. She will quickly grow to trust and appreciate those that don't make her feel like a monster.
- Company: Lunai wants to be loved. She greatly enjoys the company of others and flourishes so long as they don't do anything in particular to make her uncomfortable.
- Nature: Having grown up in Kokiri Forest for most of her admittedly very short life, Lunai is mot comfortable when she's surrounded by nature and more 'primitive' human architecture.
- White Meat: Lunai enjoys the leaner qualities of white meat, and will happily eat poultry and many types of fish without complaint, cooked or even raw.
DISLIKES:
- The Cold: Becase Lunai is cold blooded and cannot regulate her body temperature very well, cold temperatures are uncomfortable for her. She becomes sluggish and very upset the closer to freezing the temperature gets. Below freezing, it becomes hard for Lunai to move and she is prone to panicking and crying. Extended exposure to freezing temperatures will result in her passing out and slipping into a coma.
- Being thought of as a monster: Lunai is very sensitive about her warped body, to the point that until she trusts someone it will upset her having any attention at all to her draconic features. She hates feeling abnormal, and is easily upset by judgement. A rather unfortunate feeling, considering it is very easy to mistake her for a demon or other manner of actual monster.
- Alcohol, Grapes, Avacados, Chocolate, Coffee, Caffeine, Nuts, Coconuts, Dairy, Onions, Garlic, Citrus: Lunai's dragon aspects has resulted in her developing a more carnivious digestive system. These semi-common food products will make her sick or outright poison her, resulting in a very bad time.
- Embracing her Dragon Aspect: Lunai feels more like a monster whenever she embraces her dragon physiology. She also loses more and more control over herself the more she embraces it, becoming more beastial and violent. She often feels guilty over the way she acts even when defending herself, and so she is very reluctant to embrace her inner beast even when confronted with danger.
- Industrialization: Pollution in particular makes Lunai very upset, as she treasures the planet and finds it depraved to be reckless with waste. She is also made somewhat uncomfortable by modern architecture and is ocassionally moderately spooked by technology.
- Loneliness: Lunai succumbs to depression when left alone with her thoughts for too long. She's not very happy with her body or her life, and so the distraction of company is very important to her. She will wander aimlessly if she becomes desperate.
- Lechery: Lunai is 8 years old and understandably creeped out by this sort of attention, even when it's directed at someone else.
- Swimming: Lunai has an unusual muscle to fat ratio for a humanoid, making it very difficult for her to stay afloat in water. She runs a risk of drowning any time she swims.
MOTIVATIONS:
- Coming to terms with her curse: Whether it is curing or learning to live with it, Lunai is desperate to come to terms with her affliction. Generally, she would prefer the former. However, as this seems mostly impossible she has reluctantly attempted the latter with mixed results.
- Finding a new family: When Lunai returned to her home deformed with dragon physiology, she horrified her friends and family. Because she was struggling with controling her newfound dragon soul, she was a bit more violent and emotional than she'd normally be and was thought to be corrupted into a demon. Unable to cure her, she was reluctantly led from the forest and abandoned by those that had cared for her.
- Personal Growth: Not having even received her fairy before her effective banishment, Lunai desires to attain personhood in this strange new world outside the forest.
FEARS:
- Mobs: Lunai rightfully fears being branded as a demon or a monster and being chased or hunted, as it's a realistic concern given her appearance. In general, Lunai is terrified of being threatened or abused by normal folk.
- The Dark: Ironically, Lunai herself is scared of monsters. She has an very active imagination and is very scared of the dark. She will avoid dark areas whenever possible and becomes extremely skittish when walking through them. If she hears strange noises or feels strange sensations coming from the darkness she may be prone to crying.
- Betrayal: Lunai worries that if she trusts others, they might take advantage of her. Her greatest fear is that someone pretends to be her friend and then sells her out to someone who would like to harm her or sell her as some sort of exotic pet or freak show.
- Revisiting Kokiri Forest: As she was originally banished from the forest, Lunai is terrified of returning and facing her kin knowing what they think of her.
HISTORY: It should be understood that Lunai is 8 years old, and so her history is quite limited. Most of her admittedly short life was spent as a normal kokiri child, in whatever way normal applies to the kokiri anyway. She was engaged with her community, beginning to learn about the work the kokiri do to protect the forest, so that she could begin filling their shoes as she grew older. A happy, approval seeking child, Lunai had a lot going for her. Given another year or two, she would have likely received her very own fairy as was tradition. However, disaster struck not long after Lunai's 8th birthday.
One of the other kokiri, a boy Lunai had known as an 'elder' (from her perspective anyway) returned from a journey to the Lost Woods stricken with madness. His body was deformed with unfamiliar scale-like protrusion and horns and he appeared to be wounded. The cursed man began to attack others, drawing the attention of several of the braver villagers as they rushed to protect the village. The ensuing battle left everyone involved with serious wounds, with all three of the villagers that confronted the cursed kokiri suffering critical wounds. The cursed kokiri himself also fell in the battle.
Watching from a distance, Lunai gathered some of the plant-based cleaning materials used for treating wounds (think: forest people version of first aid) and rushed to try and help her fallen friends. However, when it came time to treat the cursed kokiri she found that he did not appear to have survived the battle. Try as she might, she could not rouse him to consciousness. It was always a tragedy, losing one of their own. They were all like family in their little community, and so it was akin to losing a cousin for her. She would cry, but a part of her understood that something awful had driven him to do this. Investigating his warped body, she discovered a beautiful amulet that had no earthly business being amongst her people. A humble race, the kokiri didn't generally wear much jewelry, and when they did one tended to take notice of it in this tight knit community. This amulet, however, was new.
Reaching out to touch it and flip it over to get a better idea of what the amulet was made of and perhaps even whom it may have belonged to given its size, Lunai was startled when a stinging, shocking sensation gripped her arm in response to wrapping her palm around the amulet. She could no longer let go, her muscles forced to tense by an agonizing sensation that traveled up her arm and began invading the rest of her body. Lunai cried out, but the other nearby first-responders were unable to free her either. It felt as if her bones were breaking and re-arranging, a pain so great that Lunai would soon go into shock and lose consciousness.
Lunai's next few days were extremely foggy and delirious, to the point she couldn't clearly remember anything. THe next time she regained full consciousness, her arms and legs were restrained and she was tied down to a bed, preventing her from really moving of her own free will. She had also been gagged. This was all very alarming, but beyond that she was also now aware of a pair of horns jutting out of her skull and a very unfamiliar set of teeth in her mouth. Her teeth were sharp enough to chew through her gag and she called out for help. Familiar faces joined the room to respond to her, but she found that they now looked at her as if she were a monster, like they were afraid she would hurt them. They would not untie her, apologizing quickly but keeping their distance.
In truth, Lunai's friends and family had had to battle her as she found herself possessed by a dragon soul. They had been able to restrain her and had been trying to treat and cure her for the past couple of weeks with very mixed results. Through their efforts they had been able to restore Lunai's control over her own body, however they were not able to remove the amulet or undo the corruption of Lunai's body. It was only after Lunai returned to her gentle, passive self and stayed that way for several days that they even considered allowing her to run free, however her mannerisms had changed and she now found herself battling for control with the dragon spirit inside her at times. This battle came to a peak when she inadvertently bit one of her friends during a freakout she was having after they tried to grab her and would not let go until someone came to pry her off.
In response to her volatility, the kokiri made a hard choice to banish her from the forest. There was no telling when and if she'd lose control again, and the amulet had the potential to possess others if she did. The last words from her kin Lunai was told were a request for her not to return, for it was believed that she could never fully control herself.
Following her banishment, Lunai began a journey of her own to try and prove them wrong for her own sake. She learned to try and balance and control her second soul in order to repress its personality by experimenting on her own with nature, eventually gaining the courage to go in search of civilization somewhere that would accept her. However, she was mistaken for a demon after wandering into castle town and promptly chased off. She would later learn to hide her draconic features, working until she was somewhat satisfied with her own appearance before testing her rather lackluster disguise in a nearby village. She got strange looks, but this time no one quite mistook her for something dangerous. From there, Lunai began trying to fit back into society. She did her best to hide her ... magical mutations, but the issue of being without food or shelter became her new struggle. This new land's people were not like the communal kokiri, and would not take her in. She has therefore been forced to wander and hunt for herself, reluctantly embracing her wilder side from time to time to make sure she did not starve or become lunch for another hungry creature. So the story goes...
APPEARANCE
HEIGHT: 3'5''
WEIGHT: 36 lbs
APPEARANCE DESCRIPTION:
Face: Lunai normally has wide, beautiful blue eyes when she is fully resisting her draconic amulet. However, her eyes turn a shade of royal purple at all other times. Her skin is fair and her cheeks a little chubby, as would be expected of a small child. Although one cannot normally see them, as she makes an effort not to open her mouth wide enough for anyone to see, Lunai has sharp fangs lining her mouth instead of the blockier molars and incisors you'd expect from humans. Her forest green hair is almost always wrapped up in buns around her two horns in an effort to hide them, or at least make it more difficult to discern that they are in fact real and attached to her head. She has long, fluffy, sensitive ears that fidget and rotate not unlike a cats in response to interesting sounds. Whether this is something she inadvertently gained from her dragon physiology or not is unclear. Without her hair buns to hide them, Lunai's horns are roughly 8 inches long.
Body build: Tiny and petite, one would be hard pressed to mistake Lunai for an adult. Even if they were aware of her being a kokiri, she has a certain exceptional youth to her features and mannerisms that your average kokiri likely doesn't. Rightfully so, for she has for the most part a child's physiology rather than a dwarf's. Lacking things like womanly curves or a fully developed voice, her body build could best be described as very average yet somewhat athletic, on account of her dragon aspect replacing some of the fat in her body with muscle.
Clothing: A humble forest woven dress over a too-big-for-her shirt that appears to have been stolen from or donated by an adult somewhere. The sleeves of the shirt are quite long, completely covering her hands. She chose this shirt specifically for this purpose, to hide the draconic features underneath. A wing shaped pin is the only piece of jewelry she wears, its origin unknown. Her shoes are buttoned, as she cannot tie proper shoes, and she has ankle high socks
Cosmetics: As expected of the forest child, Lunai tends to go all natural. She does, however, have a particular scent given off by her choice of plant based 'soap'. It can be described as being somewhere between nutty, grainy and not entirely unlike bread.
STATISTICS
Strength: Above Average
Speed: Excellent
Stamina: Poor
Mana: Below Average
Intelligence: Excellent
EQUIPMENT
Name: Fairy Slingshot
Rank: Common
Type: Ranged Slingshot
Handling: Two-Handed
Description: This humble yet very sturdily built fairy slingshot is a gift from the forest to Lunai. SImple in design in function, it was created to launch deku nuts at speeds that would crack their shells, causing them to explosively pop on impact. The slingshot doesn't carry much in the way of lethal force, however the concussive blast of the deku nuts it fires are strong enough to bruise flesh on a direct impact and startle the victims, perhaps leaving them more open for another attack or giving Lunai the opportunity to run away. Note worthily, their explosive nature makes deku nuts moderately more effective against armored foes than bladed weapons.
MAGIC
(Reference: The Draconic Amulet)
MAGIC TYPES KNOWN: Dragon
MAGIC TYPE: Dragon
NAME: Dragon Aspect
RANK: Uncommon
CLASS: Altered Physiology Buff
DURATION/COOLDOWN: Passive
DESCRIPTION: The magical draconic amulet around Lunai's neck is bound to her soul and cannot be taken off without doing traumatic damage to it. The amulet bestows Lunai with dragon physiology that she cannot completely turn off, such as the horns upon her head or her sharp inhuman teeth. Lunai normally resists this power in order to look more human, however by embracing it her dragon physiology can grow drastically more pronounced. Her hands become claw-like, her skin develops a scale-like dermal armor, her wings and tail grow to a size at which she can no longer hide them inside her clothes and she gains a partial resistance to direct damage from magic through her scales. On the downside, she has a very low tolerance for the cold as a result. Her tolerance is so poor that dressing up in warm winter clothes is not enough to protect her and she will succumb to a coma if exposed to freezing temperatures for long enough. Additionally, she has the unfortunate likeness to be confused for a demon and the amulet itself serves as a weak point in her armor where attacks will do extra damage in the form of a very painful physiological shock. She is also exceptionally bad at swimming and risks drowning due to the low fat content in her body while dragon aspect is in effect.
