TITLE/NICKNAME: Phenex Clan Leader/Garuda/Milady
AGE: Around 700 years old.
RACE: Sheikah
GENDER: Female
SEXUALITY: Bisexual
GROUP: Phenex Clan/Rogue Order
ALIGNMENT: Power
THEME: A Storm is Coming to Us All
Cold as Ice: Being used to the darkness within people, Ashur learned how to adapt to the circumstances surrounding her in every step she had taken. Living in a world filled with darkness that woman became a devil herself, a being cold as ice, seeming heartless in her strictness. She would never bother, she would never leave her path, following her aims until the end. No mistakes, no unnecessary actions and if one of her comrades did they would face punishment just as they deserve. None should be spared, none should escape. So even if one of her comrades would stand in her way, she wouldn’t hesitate to remove the one blocking her path. Emotions are nothing more than barricades after all, and as such mercy is something not to be expected from her. Her blood-stained blade would simply crush the ones before her,
Aloof: She is emotionally and physically distanced from others and usually will not talk to other people unless needed. Some exceptions may arise with certain people where she'll find herself to be more at ease when talking to them.
Cynical: She doesn't believe in the sincerity of human motives and will often call people who do either 'naive' or 'plainly stupid'. Due to this, she has an uncanny hate for any kind of 'heroes’. However, that is a belief that stems from her own failure to be a hero for her own people, a deep regret that scarred her personality and changed the way she thinks for good. While she still strives to create a place for her kind to be their own independent, she has inadvertently lost her faith in their actions and isolated herself from normal society.
LIKES: She has a strange obsession for different shades of red, including the crimson of blood and the magenta of wine, but is interested in the vibrant hues of Sheikah eyes like her own the most.
There's nothing all too exciting about going on a walk, yet Ashur loves going on them. It's a time away from the rush of life, and it's enjoyable to just take a step back from everything to smell the flowers.
She often snacks on sour fruit such as lemons or limes, having a high tolerance for sour things means the more bitter the better.
DISLIKES: Ashur believes that altruism is the one driving force behind the existence of man. Thus, any and all people who are corrupt in her eyes deserve to be punished for exploiting the goodness of man. This tends to get her into trouble, when she actually speaks, as it is impossible to truly condemn a person to punishment for being ‘corrupt.’
She also holds a great bias against those who harm her brethren, most notably the Royals of yore, and genuinely wishes to protect them at all costs. This hatred against the old Royalty grew and eventually lead to her current situation, with her believing Rogue Order to be her best source of power.
Her Sheikah pride prevents her from betraying a person she has sworn fealty to, and she has a particular hatred for those who stab their lords in the back, yet this goes the same each way. This is reflected in how the Royal family used the Sheikah as pawns during the civil war, knowing that they would be slaughtered en masse.
MOTIVATIONS: Ashur’s prime motivation for all she does is her hatred for the royal family. She believes that, by using the Rogue Order, she can make them pay for what they did, as well as guarantee the safety and protection of the Sheikah for a while.
She also wishes to delve deeper into the history of her tribe, knowing if their deal with Hylia, but wanting to know more their secrets which have been hidden for whatever reason, be it a dark truth or a super weapon.
Her true aim is to usurp Eleazar's position and transfer power to a more reliable source, but her pride as a Sheikah to not betray is straining at her mind. Should she stay with her current master, or secede to Zelda who has offered her lenience?
FEARS: She fears that she will one day be a villain in the same vein as Eleazar or his henchwoman, Raven, and wishes to end herself if she ever falls so far.
She also fears that what she is doing is not actually benefitting her people, but those fears are set aside by Eleazar's honeyed words that constantly persuade her that what she is doing is helping them.
As her master is so prone to change, and the Sheikah so intent on obeying Zelda against Eleazar, she is afraid that one day she will be ordered to take out her own people. On that day, will she choose to break her sacred oath of bondsmanship, or suffer the fate of killing her brethren?
Ashur’s story spans many centuries, but starts before she was even born. Her mother, Kyouka, a daughter of the respected Himura family, bore Ashur to a certain Sheikah of high status. He was a loyal retainer to the crown prince of Hyrule, whose state of affairs were quite hectic at the time, and dealt with many of his problems behind the scenes. The prince’s brother was severely jealous of his elder sibling’s birthright, and wished that he be the one with the power to get gifted as a king. As such, he plotted many nefarious schemes to kill his brother, each of which was foiled by Ashur’s father, that is until he was found to be the one who had prevented them all from coming to fruition. With that information in mind, the younger prince merely advised his older brother that Ashur’s father take on a daring job with high odds of failure, which inevitably ended in his death. He, however, left Kyouka with his young daughter, Ashur, who he had said these choice last words to: ‘Once you have chosen a path of ideals, stay with it unwaveringly.’
His death caused much grief to his wife, but Kyouka strove to live life fully and devoted herself to Ashur, for she loved her so dearly and raised her with much love and kindness. However, she would eventually die when she and her service were called upon by the royal family to quell the civil unrest in the Gerudo tribe that threatened to tear apart the relations between them and Hyrule, her body so frail from childbirth that she could not survive the wounds she was inflicted with.
When the tensions between the tribes accelerated to a critical point, Ashur was a few decades old and with a feisty temper. Her views on the royal family had begun to consolidate in this time, spurred on by her own father’s mistreatment as well as the constant news of her friends and relatives being sent to war by them, only to see a tombstone with their names a few days later. And so, eventually, it was her turn to be sent to war.
Sent to the Gerudo region, she played out the part of the guard dog for the royal family, that was until she found out that the true purpose of her mission was to act as a distraction for the King to escape, leaving her at the mercy of the Gerudo. Ashur alone was allowed to live by her captors, the rest of her troupe left to dye the canyon’s rocks crimson, and was brought to see their leader. The Gerudo chief was well spoken, who spoke honeyed words that tempted Ashur and swayed her mind, they truly were a brilliant diplomat. Eventually, she was persuaded through her utter hatred for the royal family to join them, at which point the Gerudo chief formally introduced themselves, as the Thief-King Ganondorf Dragmire, and the symbol of power incarnate.
Ashur swore fealty to him as her sovereign lord, pledging her life to him in mutual trust of each other, becoming one of his most respected subjects through her skills in reconnaissance which provided the Gerudo with much valuable information. She, along with a guard made up of Gerudo, were with Ganondorf during his visit to Hyrule where he was to allegedly bow in loyalty to the royal family and their rule, however, she was among those who knew of his real reason. To assume control over the Triforce.
With this goal in mind, while Ganondorf and his guard searched for the supposed entrance to the relic’s chambers, Ashur called upon the Gerudo who hid outside the town's boundaries as a signal to be ready for their king’s orders. Ganondorf eventually arrived, less two of his guard, and announced that they had both found the Triforce, but also claimed part of its power, showing the proof on his wrist. With this newfound confidence and power, he proclaimed the lands of Hyrule to be his to take and personally ravaged the castle, pillaging the expensive artefacts left in there, and burning the rest. The royal family was only just able to escape the ransacking of their home, that is, all but one of them. Hiding in the shadows, Ashur dragged the brother of the king back into the burning ruins of his family’s stronghold, and uttered a single word, ‘Kyouka’, in his ear. Waiting only to see his face dissolve into unfettered terror, she slit his throat with a quick flick of her wrist and left his body in the flames of Hyrule Castle to burn into ashes.
She would go on to aid Ganondorf further on in the Gerudo-Hylian war, as it was later referred to, by assassinating key players in the Hylian army, but was eventually captured when she refused to kill one of her own brethren. Brought before the Sheikah assembly, she was judged as guilty of crimes equal to the penalty of death, however granted leniency for an unknown reason (it was that Impa, a friend to Ashur’s late mother, could not bear to see her daughter die in such disgrace), and was instead sentenced to a lifelong exile. She simply wandered the lands for many a century, helping settle local affairs in one place, while killing for hire in another, merely existing rather than truly living.
But as the years went by, she gradually started to gather up support with other Sheikah, especially other exiled and defected, an underground organisation starting to form and create an information network. Using this, she allied with many powerful warlords and helped them to gain lands, or raze cities, which was what she did when she swore her loyalty to King Galadhion of Labrynna, allowing him to easily exploit the situation in Hyrule. However, in the wake of his death, she sought to unite her network into a solid entity.
They gave themselves a name, the Phenex clan, embracing their newfound identity as an offshoot of the Sheikah tribe who devoted themselves not to the royal family. And within the last decade they have truly become active, acting as the phantoms that guard the usurper king, with them being the first to flock in support of Eleazar’s claim to the throne, constituting the prime of his forces when he first amassed an army, and spreading word of him around Hyrule to gather support. Now, they act as his loyal hounds, bound by their pride as Sheikah not to break the oath they swore to him.
HEIGHT: 5’8”
WEIGHT: 130 lbs
APPEARANCE DESCRIPTION: Ashur’s locks are a silvery grey, that of a typical Sheikah descendent (which she treasures as proof of her ancestry and bloodline), tied in double twintails with the middle straight down. Her eyes have a slightly strange look to them due to her partial heterochromia of the eyes. This causes her irises to have a straight on circular split between the classic hereditary red and also a blue. Her outfits tend to all be in different shades of grey or black, whether it be an evening dress or a set of loose fitting robes. However, her most common outfit is a double-breasted uniform dress with a lion-emblazoned military hat, the hat being a gift from King Galadhion, while she wears a bracelet made from gold and studded with rubies from the Gerudo tribe on her wrist.
Rank: Common
Type: Sabre
Handling: One handed weapon.
Description: Ashur’s sabre, Kyouka, is formed from a straight, single-edged steel 76 cm long blade joined to a black and red leather grip surrounded by a fanciful golden guard that is a fit for both of her hands, with grooves running down the blade to allow for her blood to run down easily to help with her magic.
