BLOOD OF HYLIA: Even if she isn't the chosen of Hylia, she still stems from the blood of those who are, and as such, residual power over time magic has awoken inside her. When she chooses, Esme can sharpen her perception of the world for brief moments. When activated, for ten seconds, she perceives the world faster than even the most advanced fighters can, and time seems to slow for her. As such, she has an improved reaction time, proven to catch a crossbow bolt fired at point-blank range in the span of her cast. She must wait thirty seconds to cast this again.

BOW OF THE GREAT DEKU TREE: A gift from Vaida when they returned to Hyrule, this bow was an heirloom of Sheikah origin, and thus is enchanted with powerful magic. Carved from a branch freely given by the Great Deku Tree centuries ago, it is a dark brown bow stave, pristine in every way. The magical properties were the reason it was gifted to Esme specifically. Having no string, it fires arrows with a string of light magic that forms when an arrow is "nocked". The stave itself is impervious to even the greatest of sword swings, rumored to have even held up to the Master Sword. As such, it is not only useful for ranged combat, but melee combat as well, befitting Esme's unique Sheikah style of short range melee and archery attacks.

For what "danger" Esme's guards felt from this girl, this child before them, Esme felt none. She'd faced more intimidating than some duchess and lived to tell the tale. And if there was anything Hyrule had in abundance, it was royal guard. And it was a poor move for one's knights to come to a confrontation, because where commotion followed, so did the full retinue of Esme's guard. Within moments, the garden was surrounded by Hylian knights, all watching as Maehdra blatantly demanded respect from the very person she was disrespecting. Esme was fuming, and discerning eyes praised Hylia she didn't have her bow, lest a rash decision be made. But nothing could stop what was to come.
"You speak of me as if I'm some child, but you're simply a maiden who was lucky enough to stumble across a throne and crown. If respect is to be earned, then I'll be damned if I don't get the satisfaction of earning it your way."
The nearest guard jumped when she took his sword from the sheath, stalking towards the Dutchess and jamming it into the ground before her. A low murmur went through the crowd, one of surprise, and Esme glanced up briefly to see Vaida standing among her giard, spear pointed at the guard this Duchess has ungraciously invited into their castle. They all knew what this was, a ritual forged in the ancient times of Hyrule. It was a challenge of honor. Esme was calling for a duel.
"To say we spit upon the feet of our bannermen is to disrespect the name of Hyrule, and all we have worked to build after much tragedy. To say my tragedy does not beget hesitation is to spit upon me. You presume I do not speak for my family, but grudges aside, we are one, and my word speaks for Hyrule just as well as the Queen. You come from a house who did not dissent from the rule of Eleazar, and I charge you and your house with slander of your liege, and to pair alongside your lack of reaction against an invading army, high treason. You may find, Your Grace, that your ascension was upon your father's death, during a time in which we did not occupy Hyrule, yet you claim fealty to the Crown? Nay, I will not succor the tantrum of an inexperienced noble. You may submit your arms and surrender your land, if you wish. But, before the Goddess Hylia as my witness, as is my ancient rite to call upon. I, Esmerelda of House Hyrule, The Eagle-Eyed and First of Her Name, challenge you to a duel in defense of your honor, to the surrender."
With that, the guards of the castle all went from a passive stance to an active one, shields raised and swords forward. Esme gave another look to Vaida, and nodded, and the Sheikah lowered her spear before turning away, to the walls. Sheikah were unrivaled in speed, so the message would spread fast. As her best men flanked her, she set her hands on the sword she had challenged Maehdra with, leaning in, and smiled.
"Perhaps this will prove a more effective way to show you my conviction, my feelings. I've heard many of the tales of your combat prowess, and I suppose it best to see how tall those tales are. I'll be sure to get right on that meeting with my dear sister, and rest assured I'll be there. Guard!"
There was no need to snap to attention, they already knew what was to come.
"Be sure the Duchess is well taken care of. Show her our best Hylian hospitality... But no one hailing from Bion is to leave the walls of Hyrule until a decision has been made."
"YES, YOUR HIGHNESS!"
The cry was unanimous, and Esme stood up with pride, challenging the fear Maehdra was to put off. She wasn't scared, she had no reason to be. Her men basked in her radiance, as she curtsied to the Duchess, raising with a smirk. The few men with weak spines whose legs were shaking in the presence of a child steeled themselves, sword tips pointing where they needed to be. Fear was gone, only conviction remained. Loyalty to one's liege over all else.
"Feel free to bring whatever weapon you like. I'll be sure to bring my best."
---
((And with that, I think one last post from Maehdra should wrap this up. I'll be around on Discord if you've any questions or wanna coordinate a thread for this! How exciting, loving the conflict, Esme's getting a real chance to shine here))
She wasn't sure, at first, what she had heard from her vassal's mouth, but the final question made her fist clench, and stomach swell. One who claims to be a vassal, yet makes such absurd claims towards their own crown? She knew nothing of what they had faces after being driven from Hyrule, the castle taken from them for all those years, her own family put at risk by those with selfish intentions.
"Lady Maehdra, I would find it advisable to still your tongue."
The guards stationed in the garden knew that soft tone well, one that hid a sea of emotions under calm waves. They shared glances, before moving to be closer to the princess, not for her sake, but for the Duchess'. Esme was prone to outbursts when prodded, and they could recognize her futile attempt to hold it down. It wasn't the first time the Princess had to be restrained, but now she was of age. There was little they could do except de-escalate.
"Your Highness, I think-"
"BE QUIET!"
They shied back at her cry, another glance between them before they bowed and backed off, out of reach. They were sure of what was to come, and it was not their place to stop it. Esme took a grim satisfaction in this, but there was no time for pleasure in the grief that swelled in her heart.
"Think what I may of my sister, I can say without a doubt she is the greatest woman I know, and I will not stand idly as my blood and house is spoken ill of. Our vassals were treated with nothing but respect when we asked them to rally in our recent war, but the sins of the parent are the sins of the child. When Hyrule fell, when the Goddesses denounced all of their radiance, you think we just rolled over and gave up? No, we fought, we survived, when it was clear that nobody would fight along our side. When Eleazar took the throne, the call was put out, but the people did not rally under the banner of Hylia, as Hylia had been forsaken. How could you possibly understand?"
Her voice was steady until then, where it wavered and cracked. She felt nail dig into the heel of her palm, before throwing out her hand as the anger and sorrow burst out of her.
"We were dealt the hand of a Queen forced to ascend due to the death of her remaining parent, she was forced into a role she wasn't ready for! When we tried to defend ourselves against threats, even the Goddesses spit upon us, and yet we still persevered! When a force thrice the size of our own came and lade siege our castle, we put the call out for our vessels, and no answer! Yet we survived. My own sister was murdered, and brought from the dead, and you seek to invalidate that pain that caused upon my family? Only when we returned, and called out to our banners again, did they answer, YEARS LATE! And we still rewarded you accordingly, we still accepted your fealty, even as the daggers in our backs had already been twisted! My family has faced gods, goddesses, and all manner of gods-awful things in our life, and you think it unfair that it's hard for us to trust?"
She stopped, taking a few deep breaths, before a long one, closing her eyes to calm her emotions, just as she was taught. When she looked up, there was steel in her gaze, a conviction hardened by years of sorrow.
"You fought for us in regaining Hyrule, and for that I, and my house, thank you. Our vassals make us who we are, but respect is something earned, not distributed freely. So, I do believe, Lady Maehdra, you find yourself in need of impressing two royals now. As I see it, an insult upon the royal house does not beget fealty, nor respect."

"Rest assured, Lady Maedhra, your assistance on the front lines was greatly appreciated, and key to our eventual victory. But I can understand where my sister has... Reservations in her approach. The issue, I'm afraid, goes back further than the battle."
The topic was harder for Esme to talk about than she could admit, and even with this paragon of youth before her, this gay figure, proudly holding her clover as a sign of good luck, a cold anxiety washed through her stomach. Life was different now, but the fear she had felt when they first lost their home, their people, still sat in her gut like a brick. She signed, leaning against a wall, and crossed her arms as she spoke again.
"My sister was more affected by the attack on our home than most else, and losing what is our ancestral birthright, as well as her hero, in one fell swoop took a toll on her. Even greater so was the sacrifices she made to get us here, and... She has a perception of the battle that lose us Hyrule Castle. When her vassals were needed, they did not come. We fought the battle alone, and it pains me to admit this is truth. We had no chance, and none came to our aid. She feels a sense of... Resentment, of a sort. House names wishing to swear fealty again are going to be met with repercussions, and I shant sugarcoat her response. Spite her as I may, I felt the same pain she did on that day, and years living in a camp in a forest did us no favors. Your duties in the present have been of great service, but..."
There was pause as she looked down, realizing she was clenching her fist. A count of three seconds, closed eyes, and a controlled breath eased the shaking in her hand, before she opened her eyes.
"... we must bear the burdens of our predecessors, even if it may seem unfair at times. I know better than most about this. I can stir what favor I can with her, but I make no promises. This will be your chance and your chance alone to impress Zelda."

EAGLE EYE -> EYE OF TRUTH: Her Sheikah training has bonded with the shard of Power that she holds, augmenting the magic tied to her archery and accuracy. Esme can now cast a spell upon herself to augment her spatial awareness and reflexes, being able to process information in battle faster, and act at a level akin to the ancient bowmasters of the Sheikah. She has shown the accuracy to fire an arrow through a ring, and still hit her mark, as well as the reflex and initiative to act as she needs to at close range. This enchantment lasts ten minutes, after which her eyes are strained and she has to drop the spell or risk damage to her eyes. She can push the limits, but it's been proven to cause bleeding fromt he eyes at the 11 minute mark, and would take partial or full sight around the 15 minute mark.

"I apologize for meeting you in such garb, but with recent events, I've decided to err on the side of caution. If my men can't put an arrow through the eyes of a threat at sixty paces, I'd well like to ensure that I can do so."
The Dutchess seemed kindly, though the look of impatience was clear on her visage, and Esme couldn't help but relate to such a blight. She had the luxury (if you could call it that) of holding Zelda's ear directly, as she remained the one sibling who actually trusted her judgment, but for her to be preoccupied with such... Queenly matters didn't make Esme envious.
In fact, she'd much rather be gagged with a spoon.
"My sister is what I'd kindly refer to as a quite busy person, so I'm sure you can understand she's... Preoccupied. But perhaps I can lend my ear and relay the message? Come, let us walk and talk, I could use some air anyways."
She turned on heel, gesturing for the Dutchess to follow her to the private gardens, the guards posted at the doors giving her a curt nod as she walked up, heels of her riding boots clicking against the stone of the castle hallways. The chatter on this side of the castle was much quieter, and it was clear that the royal quarters had been the priority in being fixed. It's just what Esme wanted, a quiet moment with somebody who actually understood how she felt, a warrior and a lady in one. Plus, the gardens had been replanted, the Kokiri allied to them helping plants blossom with haste.
"For being in reconstruction, the garden is beautiful this time of year. Perhaps if we're lucky, my sister will join us and we can have a short audience. Worst case scenario, we can swap stories. What say you?"

It hurt Esme's soul to walk the halls of her childhood home, seeing it in such disarray. It hurt her soul to think of the men who had perished, to think of the lives cost for their freedom. But, in a strange way, the homecoming was nice. She had longed for many years to have this part of her life back, a reminder of a happier life, where she actually felt she could live and be acknowledged. But now was a new start, and she wouldn't be overshadowed by her siblings any longer.
So, as a start, she had offered to oversee the reconstruction efforts, managing the masons and carpenters brought in from the Goron and Rito, and she watched her home start to become what it used to be. It was a start, but she would be responsible for respecting this home, for honoring her mother and father this way. Zelda's task was to be an ass on the throne, and what the others were doing didn't concern her. She was to do this herself, her way, and people would come to respect the princess. Whereas she normally wore the royal dresses and whatnot that her people dictated, since the battle she had been on high alert, and was garbed in chainmail underneath a riding dress, with metal pauldrons and leather bracers. Her bow stayed strung on her back, and any threat in her eye would find an arrow in them in a breath's time, should she deem it so. She was ready.
It was during one of her rounds that she caught a snippet of a conversation, a regal female voice amongst the ruggedness of the guard, and curiosity got the better of her. Leaning against a nearby wall, she listened around the corner, arms crossed as she listened to the Dutchess speak to the others around her. She knew that the Dutchess of Bion was visiting, and her deeds in the Siege had been of an immense help. This woman was strong, a warrior, and Esme respected that greatly. Maybe, if she could-
Her leave was taken suddenly, and Esme shook off the daze of focus, stepping out to meet the Dutchess, to speak to her, but then she was ran into, the other woman cursing before looking up, seeing her, and curtsying. Esme returned the formality, though much more subtly.
"My apologies, Your Grace, I didn't intend to run into you. I was hoping we might have a word? It appears you're in need of an audience, and I may be able to help somewhat."

"You are making no such disturbance, healer. Your work deserves breaks every now and then, and I hold no claim over this part of the forest. Call it a coincidence. If I may..."
She took a moment to adjust her dress, before lowering herself gingerly to sit against an adjacent tree, legs to the side. Her bow was laid out in front of her, and she began to tend to it, making sure the wax on the string was holding up to start. She worked quietly for a brief moment, before sighing and resting her head on the tree when he asked his follow-up questions.
"I am as fine as one can be in these situations. I've the burden of my sister going missing yet again pulling in the opposite direction of my brother's incessant nagging, and the tension is nearing a breaking point, but I'm holding together. And of what concern is it to you, healer? I hold no political power, despite being close enough to age. My influence doesn't hold very much sway, so you shouldn't have to worry much how I feel. Gods know my brother doesn't..."
She threw the rag she was using to polish her bow to the side and stood up with a grunt of effort, clearly trying to avoid the issue.

Everything was going to hell in a handbasket, and as a result, society was falling apart around those who kept it together. Always the planner, Esme was trying to keep things in order while not stepping on her sibling's shoes, but she had finally decided enough was enough. It was frustrating, and she felt like the only member of the Royl Family keeping her head. Yes, they were all worried about Zelda being gone, but someone had to lead in her place. Enough was finally enough.
But frustration also came to Esme easily, and she found herself stomping out of the camp in a storm, hot off the heels of an argument with her brother. Her own attendant had been dismissed out of sparing her from the princess' fury, and many other attendants were brushed off, as she muttered to herself about how she would turn him into a pincushion of arrows if she could. But anger subsided, and she found herself pacing, thinking. Maybe this wasn't the right move, maybe she was being too rash in her decision. Maybe it was the stress? Who knew. All she knew is current affairs hurt her head, but she paused her thoughts when she saw someone sitting nearby, and her hand instinctively went to her bow before relaxing.
He looked familiar, and she recognized him as one of the healers. Basil, if she recalled. He seemed frustrated, and she tilted her head, slowly walking to him.
"Excuse me, is all well? I hope I am not interrupting any alone time, good sir."

Tears fall to the ground, we'll just let them drown
She felt her nails dig into her palm when not only Artemis, but Zelda, began scolding her for her words. She opened her mouth to respond, but bit it back and turned away, turned to Kura. She pressed her cloak to her mouth, looking at her, preserved before her.
She would understand. Kura would get it, and she's gone.
"Why us? Why did this have to happen this way? She didn't deserve this... Why can't we bring her back?"
She was half talking to herself, looking away from the two, but audible. It was almost pleading, bargaining, as she stared at Kura, hand reaching up ever so slightly. There was nothing she wouldn't give to bring her back, nothing in the world. There had already been too much loss, too much bloodshed. Kura was the one she was closest to, the one who actually was there, and she would have spilled her blood right then and there for her. Instead, she lowered her hand, and looked to Zelda.
"You were able to save your hero. Why not her? There has to be some sort of magic, she's only on the brink. We can still do something. Right?"

Tears fall to the ground, we'll just let them drown
A solemn chill hung in the air, accented by how sharp and uninviting the cold air was. It wouldn't be a stretch to say it was fitting for the mood, however. Esme stood, bundled in a cloak embroidered with the royal family's crests and designs, shaking more from grief than from the cold.
It spoke volumes that she stood opposite of Artemis, closer to where Zelda was standing. She was silent until Artemis spoke, his posture slumped, but he was trying to hide it. To be the prince he was supposed to be. Trying to be composed.
She didn't expect to snap when he talked, but she did.
"Have you no respect for those at rest, Artemis!?"
She had stepped forward, fists curling instinctively, and pushed back her hood to look her brother in the eye. Tears ran down her face, ones of anger and sorrow, but she didn't falter in her glare.
"I can live with you blaming me for mother's death, but Kura was our sister. For you to rush this is disrespectful to her memory, and to us as a family. You should show her the amount of respect you showed our mother, that you showed our father."
She found herself moving to him, crossing the distance between them, and grabbed him by his tunic, pulling him closer. Their eyes met again, and she resisted the urge to just punch him in the jaw.
"So, no, we're doing the ceremony, and you can either choose to be a stuffy prince or a grieving brother. Which would she want from you, Artemis?"
Post by Esme Hyrule on Jan 20, 2018 17:12:50 GMT -5
The princess let out a sigh, eyes flitting upwards briefly, before settling them on her guard. She was always overprotective of the princess, and for good reason. However, she wasn't a child anymore, and Vaida knew she was more than capable of surviving if need be. She briefly entertained the thought of getting away and daring Vaida to bring her back. It didn't sound half bad, but could she do that to her caretaker? Another sigh, another bite of cake, and then another, but it stopped at her mouth as she thought of something.
Oh, that would work nicely a s a compromise.
"A hunt would be fun, but I want a challenge. With you there, it shouldn't be an issue, right? No need to answer."
She put her fork down, standing up as she smoothed out her dress, eyes flitting to her bow. Yes, they could have some fun. She grabbed her quiver and bow, arrows on her hip and bow in its holster, then leaned over, making sure she still had knives in her boots.
"Our meals have been paltry as of late, Vaida. We eat like commoners because we can't let our influence too greatly, but we can change that. So we go hunting for larger game. I've seen wild boar and bear brought in by the hunting parties, but they have to use spears and get so close. I'll have you there, and be 60 paces away to boot. So let's make it fun! Imagine how happy they'll all be when we come back with all that meat! We can eat like we deserve to. Or would you rather me get bored and find my own way out of the forest?"
The last sentence was almost a taunt, and the shadow of a smile danced on her lips, before she turned to walk away.
"I have my mind set to it now, let's not waste time dilly-dallying around here, Vaida. Get what you need and meet me by the entrance to the forest. I'm going to my quarters briefly."
Without looking back, she began walking to her room, which wasn't too far from where her range was set up. When she got in, she was quick to reach under her bed, pulling a box out from under it. From it, she took ruppees, putting them in her belt pouch, then took a smaller box, opening it to make sure the smoke bombs inside it were still functional. When she was satisfied, they were stowed in her pouch as well, and she smiled to herself.
Cake. Sweet, glorious cake. Her mouth watered at the thought, but instead she took the box, set it aside, and gave a caring peck on the cheek to her attendant.
"As always, Vaida, your vigil is much appreciated. Though I wish you didn't have to go on these scouting missions, I feel safest with you nearby. Plus you missed my training for the day."
She knew, though, that she had nothing to prove to the Sheikah. With her greetings, she took the fork from the box, taking the first bite of her precious plunder. With a satisfied sound, she swallowed, and sighed. She smiled briefly, eyes shutting, and leaned her head back, wiping sweat from her brow.
"All this sitting around is driving me up the wall. I want to be out of this thrice-accursed forest, but all I have to do is train and train and train. I can hit the target with my eyes closed, Vaida, and it's so repetitive. But my dearest sister Kura insists I stay where it's safe and away from all the excitement, all the fun. Will this accursed impsonment ever end?"
she sighed, resting her chin on a hand, and played with her cake, toying with the frosting.
"My older siblings insist we just sit and wait for happen, but I can't do that anymore. I would never force you to do anything against my siblings if you didn't want to, but I need out. At the very least, if I go to explore, I ask of you not to follow me. I'm not a little girl anymore, and I want people to realize that. I want the freedom of our castle back, and I want my siblings to be happy and motivated to further our family. Is that too much to ask, Vaida? Or do you understand me?"
Post by Esme Hyrule on Oct 29, 2017 14:36:15 GMT -5
Wood splinters flew out of the target as the arrow flew true to its center, and Esme lowered her bow, exhaling the breath she had kept in. She smirked, walking forward onto her own small range to retrieve the arrows from the targets, then pushed them back onto their latches, holding them down until she was ready for them to pop up again. With a twirl, she tucked the last arrow in her side quiver, and looked around. Empty. Not many people came out to train, with the threat that they were found out known now. Privacy had benefited them in the not-being-turned-into-Swiss-cheese department, but now every Hero of Hyrule was on a tight string. No pun intended.
With a sigh, she turned and walked back to her shooting point, clearing her mind of the anxious haze that tickled at it. She just had to imagine her targets were the threats, because the best way to solve one's problems was to put an arrow through them. It was a clever mechanism some of the soldiers had designed, to test their reaction time, but none were a better show than Eagle-Eyed Esme.
She looped the rope to activate the system around her ankle, and drew three arrows from her quiver, holding two in the same hand as her bow as she nocked the third. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath through her nose, and when her lungs were full, she snapped open her eyes, and tugged at the rope. The targets shot up, and she let the arrow fly. She wasted no time in reaching forward to grab, nock, and pull the second one back, and it began flying as the first hit dead center. The same was true for the third one, and when they had all landed true, she smiled, pulling her foot from the loop of rope.
A few minutes later, and her bow and quiver were laid on the table beside her, as she drank from her waterskin, noting it was running low. She looked over the camp as she rested, alternating between hydrating and eating the chunk of bread she had brought with her. These people were her responsibility, as much as any of her other siblings. Even if one of them was helping her hero heal, one was off with her betrothed, and one was busy playing soldier. She was more public than her siblings, so she knew there was some degree of poise and responsibility she had to hold up.
At least she found it fun. One of them had to be able to do something diplomatically.
But there wasn't much point on dwelling on it. She grabbed her bow, and prepared to go off to practice long-range shooting. She paused, however, at the sound of somebody approaching.
"Ah, Vaida. I was wondering if I'd see you today."

ESME

FEMALE

THEME
PERSONALITY
Being the youngest heir in a family of heirs can be tedious. Not enough influence, but high expectations. Esme's situation is no different, as frustrating to her as it may be. She is very outgoing, wanting to help her land and people, in both combat and politics. She loves participating in diplomacy and conquest alike, and is a very outgoing person. It is easy for her to talk to people, and her cheery demeanor helps her get on the good side of those she needs to be on. Sharp as a needle, she has also taught herself to be an expert strategist, and will often go into situations with the intent of planning on the fly. As such, she tends to trust her gut reactions a lot.
However, she is also an easily frustrated person, especially if somebody looks down on her for her age. She knows her talents, and what she's capable of, and people looking down on her as unimportant and insignificant in the grand scheme of things is the greatest insult against her. Among these other traits, she's also a hopeless romantic, and a fantastic flirt. She was the type of princess not opposed to suitors, if only for the factor of entertainment.
Casually, she is a very fun-loving person who loves to go out and do things. She always loved festivals and events, though those are more rare nowadays. She also enjoys hiking and existing in nature, seeing the most beautiful places she can.
LIKES
[attr="class","scroll"]
Outdoors: Esme has always been an active person, and a lot of her favorite hobbies involve the outdoors, from horseback riding to target archery
Leading: Esme has the charisma of a leader, having learned from her parents at a young age before they passed away. She emulates her sister Zelda and what she used to represent before falling into despair, and will often step up to lead if nobody else will.
Food: This girl has an insatiable appetite, and nobody can quite place where it all goes.
DISLIKES
[attr="class","scroll"]
Being treated as the baby sister: As stated in the personality, her worth is not determined by her age. As such, she dislikes it when her older siblings baby her just because she's younger.
The undead: She's always had this strange superstition about what's dead staying dead, and as such, she isn't the biggest fan of Stalfos and Redeads.
Bitter tastes: Ew
MOTIVATIONS
[attr="class","scroll"]
Taking back home and country: Though she knows she has to bide her time, Esme's main desire is to see the appropriate royalty on the throne again.
Get revenge on the Rogue order: To tie into motivation one, she knows justice must be served. Whether by her sibling's hands or her own, she will see it done.
Bringing balance to Hyrule: Admittedly, the shattering of the Triforce threw much of the land of Hyrule out of balance. Esme plans to do what she can to show the world they don't need goddesses, they have each other.

Dying without purpose: She wants to do something notable with her life, and doesn't want to be known just as the youngest heir.
Spiders: Oh. Hell. No. Something about the eight-legged monstrosities just rubs her the wrong way, and she doesn't fuck with them, large or small.
Losing her kingdom: As part of the Royal Family, she always feared the worst: losing her people and country. Sadly, she has to live with the fact that this fear is a reality.
HISTORY
It was almost like Esme was born into bad luck.
During her birth, the mother of the royal siblings died, and she hardly made it herself. In growing up, she was assured it wasn't her fault, but she always felt like she had done something wrong, that she had taken her mother from her family.
Needless to say, she had a rough childhood.
Despite her sibling's insistence, she was always a rather antisocial child, preferring to play by herself than with other children. As such, instead of being the fun-loving youngest, she instead opted to learn how to be a proper princess in her free time as she grew up, and worked to better her country. By doing this, she figured, she could repent for the sins of her birth.
She grew up to be a fine young lass, but something was always missing in her life. She wasn't the closest to her siblings, and in her younger teen years, she realized she was pushing them away because she felt guilt. She realized such introversion, and despite the insistence of her handmaidens, she was going to try new things, get out there.
Then her father died, and the royal family were orphans.
She took the news surprisingly well, and watched as her siblings all grieved in their own ways. It hurt, but she was capable of burying it deep. And bury it she did. She took up equestrian, archery, diplomacy, all things that contrasted her former lifestyle. She wanted to be the ideal princess.
She wanted to be fit to rule alongside her sister Zelda. As such, she grew to be a woman of revered beauty and confidence, and she knew it. She could use it to her advantage.
but before she could, Hyrule and the Hero fell. Her family and people were forced into hiding, and she was back to square one.
She now helps the Heroes of Hyrule, acting as a head strategist and ruler of the group, alongside her siblings.
APPEARANCE
Brown hair, bright eyes, 5' 6", large bust. She's a qt.
MAGIC
EYE OF TRUTH: Her Sheikah training has bonded with the shard of Power that she holds, augmenting the magic tied to her archery and accuracy.
SHEIKAH FORM [Royal Family trait]: Esme has been trained to use Sheikah magic to assume the form of a Sheikah, for the purpose of disguise and stealth. In this form, she can disappear into shadows and sneak around much easier.
WEAPONS
