The prince closed his eyes for only a second before feeling the warmth of Annora's hand on his arm. Looking over slowly, he listened to her words which sent a spiral of strange emotions through his body. His face felt warm, his stomach tight, and the hairs at the edge of his skin stuck up as though he would shiver from the cold.
Not to be alone... that was truly something that he didn't really know. He always placed himself against others, even if they were close to him. Becoming too familiar meant putting them in danger, and although he would confide in Zelda, whom was really the only person he could speak to about his troubles, she was away - stuck in the limbo of sleep and who knew when she'd awaken--if she'd awaken.
And if she didn't awaken... that would leave him in charge. He'd have to take her place in this battle, and figure out how to properly bring the kingdom back into its original balance without the sealing magic Zelda worked so hard to perfect. Could they really defeat Majora without her strength?
In a way, although the title of firstborn heir was taken from him upon his birth, he was terrified of stumbling into the role if she were to not come back. The jealousy had caused him to act out in the passed - it caused him to hone his skills to become the best leader he possibly could, to show that he was heir material. But overtime, his love for his sister, and support of her cause had hindered such envy and allowed him to live in the comfort of where he would end up.
The Isle was small though. It was large to travel, yes, but too small to find royalty among it that were ready for courting and ability to rule. Anyone he would marry, he'd surely be sent to their home to live with them, rather than taking them back to Hyrule, and it was a scary thought.
Being forced to live in hiding within the Lost Woods truly humbled him to call home wherever his heart was... but some days he often wondered where his heart truly lied--or if he even had a heart.
"It's... been a long four years, I'll admit," he murmured. "And just these recent months have been the hardest. Zelda worked so tirelessly to save that boy, and now we don't know if she'll even wake up. We can only hope he truly is the Hero we need, and that he'll step up to the plate to defeat Majora. If Zelda can't, then he has to."
He looked up into her pale eyes, a gloss pervading through his irises. "Goddesses forgive me for being so cold. Bringing people into my life has only caused more strife, and I'm afraid that if we become close, you'll surely meet the same fate. Is that something you're willing to endure?"
Artemis gulped for a moment, not fully realizing what he had just done. Had he truly attempted to lure the poor girl? Well--Lure was a poor choice of words. His cheeks reddened for a moment as he looked away, trying to think more carefully on what to say next. He could always invite her to his cabins, but that may had been a bit too obvious to the outside.
Where could they go to sit in private?
"The Fairy Glade," he said quickly. "We have an outpost station there that we haven't used in some time since we haven't had any attacks." It was a perfect spot to get away from their responsibilities for a bit. What is wrong with you? Your sister is in a coma, and the other one is dead. You need to get back to work!
He huffed, closing his eyes. He didn't remember the last time he took a break. "I really shouldn't be doing this... there's a lot at stake now more than ever..." he turned back to the table, thinking hard on whether the plans could wait until morning.
"...Fuck it." he got up, pulling Annora with him as he brushed passed her. "I already sent the others away. It can wait."
He led her past the guards as discreetly as possible as they vanished from sight to the camp. A small path led them into a thicket which slowly glimmered the further they went with bio-luminescence. Fireflies, flowers, and fairies shown their way through the grove as they made their way into the trees. A tree house, one that was clearly built by the Kokiri in its architecture stood up with a single lantern glimmering over the woods. He led her to the ladder, before stepping up into the small wooden cabin.
There was a single bed, a table with chairs, along with some weapons situated in the corner. "I would come here and patrol on my own when I needed to think," he said quietly before taking a seat at the table. Along it was a map of the surrounding forest, with flags marking other posts and the camp.

OUR FATE WAS CHOSEN BY THE GODS
A sip from his cup led him to watch her eyes carefully - so pale yet mesmerizing. He was sure he had never seen such a color before, and he couldn't help but gaze upon them in curiosity. She spoke of being free of his father's wishes, and that was true. In a way, his death, while sad as it was, was relieving to him and his sisters. The amount of weight he had pushed upon them was devastating to their family, and caused them to drift from each other.
Truthfully, the four of them were pretty split when it came to their closeness. Sure, they loved each other, but beyond that they were never very close. He considered himself to be very protective of Kura, but in a way, it was because she reminded him of his mother. Zelda was his queen, and so he devoted himself to her as well. And then there was Esme, who he...
Well, there was nothing he could really say other than that he had an obligation to protect her because she was family. He loved her as blood, but she frustrated him to no end.
It was sudden though, as she stopped her words and cleared her throat, immediately standing as the two of them shared a gaze and time froze. He was startled by her immediate movement, and his eyes locked on hers. There was something oddly hypnotizing about her guise, and he felt his cheeks redden before she excused herself.
"Huh?" he couldn't help but let out in confusion as she immediately removed herself. Something was pulling him to her. In his head, he knew that perhaps it was loneliness, or rather he was just captivated by her beauty, but it had been far too long since he had shared company with someone, and he wasn't going to waste any more time. "Wait!" he said quickly, before grabbing her hand before she could leave.
He tugged on her hand, squeezing it gently before staring at her for a long moment. His brain was aching and arguing, telling him to just let the poor girl go, or perhaps that she would reject him completely. He took a deep breath, sweat permeating on his forehead as he tried to find words to say without sounding like a bumbling idiot.
"Forgive me for being bold, but considering the conditions and the lack of nobility left to judge our actions..." he started, trying not to sound too forward. "I mean... would you perhaps want to get away for a bit? Just the two of us."

OUR FATE WAS CHOSEN BY THE GODS
"An Engineer?" Artemis's eyes narrowed in confusion. "What worth do you take yourself for? You are the rightful duchess of Symmetry City. A role such as yourself shouldn't be wasted on a mere engineer. You deserve someone of nobility!" He may have felt a bit too passionate on the honor of nobility.
Perhaps he was projecting a little bit. When Annora had then asked of himself, he felt his cheeks heat up in embarrassment. Sighing, he shrugged his shoulders carefully. "That's the one thing I was never able to please my father with. My taste in women. Ultimately it was my decision to take on a bride, and no one was... well, I won't say good enough, but I was just uninterested in spending the rest of my life with them."
He let out a sigh at how shallow that sounded. He was just not into courting himself off. He felt better suited for placing himself in the military wing, becoming hand of the king to his father and not worrying of his future.
In a way, knowing he wouldn't become king had caused him to give up on his future as royalty. He wanted to do what made him feel most fulfilled. And it did include women--but not in the romantic sense. (He was kind of a cold lover.)
Oh, now he was thinking about his affairs. His face went red as he tried to block it out. It had been so long since he shared affection with anyone and now this girl had him thinking about his future again. If there was one.
"My father was never... approving of the woman I was interested in. Since I was the only prince, I still had to follow his rules on who to marry. He chose the girls. I simply gave a yes or no." He leaned back in his chair before huffing as he thought about it. "I was in love with the handmaiden assigned to my wing. She was murdered when Eleazar's forces took hold of our castle. She saved my life."

OUR FATE WAS CHOSEN BY THE GODS
A brow raised slightly to Annora's remark, but a slight smirk cornered at the edge of his mouth as he looked away, running a hand through his hair as he slouched against the bench. "I thought it was brave. Truthfully, the prince would have been suited for any one of my sisters, and I doubt my father was right in the head when he signed the agreement. The goddess reborn always finds her way to the spirit of the hero."
He thought on it for a moment, and how in the ends, things seemingly had worked out. "Perseus and Kura... apparently they were the two who were going to end up together in the end, at least until..." he paused for a moment, thinking back on it. His hand had released from his hair before slamming against the table. "Enough of that. We aren't here to talk about that."
It was the one thing that he wanted to avoid. "You would surely drop everything to marry someone you didn't love, if it meant more wealth for your family's name?" he tilted his head. "I assumed most women were the type to marry for love. Even my parents married for love. My mother was from Labrynna, and was promised to King Galadhion when he was only a prince, but the two had no feelings for each other. From what I remember... he had called my father to ring in a favor. It was love at first sight."
It was a story his mother loved to tell, as though it was funny - breaking the laws of royalty and doing what they pleased. Her parents were quite embarassed that she refused Galadhion's "proposal", but she redeemed it rather quickly by marrying another king instead.

OUR FATE WAS CHOSEN BY THE GODS
Artemis followed Annora the short distance to the messhall, hands stuffed in the pockets of his britches as his tired eyes watched the dull embers that were faced with sudden force from Annora's quick use of the log.
The young prince took a seat at the table closest to the hearth as his fingertips tapped against the rough surface, Annora's tireless efforts echoing in the foyer as he waited patiently. It really had been some time since he had been in this room with the others - but then he thought of when this room may have been originally used.
Back before the Gerudo War, hundreds of years before, when the Castle was originally placed in this location. His ancestors had used this same space he now sat. He wondered what they would say about his position, and his efforts in the war.
Annora had finished making the tea, bringing it over to him before taking hold of her cup tightly. Artemis closed his eyes, taking a whiff of the tea and coming to a sudden peace of mind. It reminded him of his mother - the tea she used to make before sending him off to bed.
Then she asked what it was like at the castle.
"It was work," he responded honestly. "My father expected the most out of me and Zelda. With her being the goddess reborn... she was expected to learn everything as a queen. And I was left to attend my studies and learn what the firstborn heir should... should anything happen to her."
"We knew a darkness was coming. The goddess is rarely reborn without an omen following. We just didn't know when or where it would come, and with Zelda often wandering off and not taking her duties seriously as a child, my father became very cold and strict with us, but left Kura and Esme to pretty much their own devices."
"Zelda didn't mean any harm in wandering... she was a child, and barely had a childhood to enjoy. My father was determined for her to learn her sacred powers before this omen would appear, but she was childish, and wanted to run off and go on adventures. Eventually, he gave up, and turned his attention toward me again. Worked me to the bone in the end... and when Zelda finally came to announce she had visions of a dark power, he didn't even believe her."
"And then he died. And Zelda was set to marry Perseus, but we all know what happened after that," he looked up at her with raised brows. He didn't mean to give a whole story, but when he would talk... sometimes he didn't know how to stop. He had to give details, even the most precise.

OUR FATE WAS CHOSEN BY THE GODS
Tea was the answer. There was a part of him that wanted to laugh - as if tea would solve all of his problems. As if drinking some herb in water would cause all of his worries to wash away. His eyes narrowed for a moment, but he realized soon after that he was being cold--well--colder than normal.
He closed his eyes. It had been a while since he had eaten, and he was dehydrated to hell. Letting out a sigh, he shrugged before nodding. She had just lost her father, and he, his sister. He wasn't great at the comforting type of thing since he lacked a mother for most of his life. Nyssa tried her best, but for the most part, he avoided her.
"Tea sounds lovely, m'lady. Excuse me for overlooking your loss as well. I did not realize how that could have come off," he spoke stoicly before holding his hand out to walk with her toward the messhall.
It was a short walk, but he supposed he'd be formal enough with her, since she was the heir--well, now she was the duchess, should they take back Symmetry City.

OUR FATE WAS CHOSEN BY THE GODS
"Truthfully you've done more than we can ask," Artemis said quietly. He looked around for a moment, a hand running through his moppy hair that he had let overgrow. There was tension that shifted in the air, a silence that lingered between them before she finally spoke once more.
"Help me..?" he murmured, musing over the words carefully as he tried to understand what she could have possibly done for him. He hummed in thought for a moment, pursing his lips as he thought about it carefully.
"I um..." the words had stung as he spoke of his sisters. One was comatosed, the other dead, and the other, well... she was a handful on her own. "How exactly would you be able to help me? There's not much to be done... unless you can wake my one sister up and bring back the other from death."

OUR FATE WAS CHOSEN BY THE GODS
The prince had spent most of his day plotting with the others on what refugee camps they would attempt to align with next. Countless hours of strategics for their next attack, or whether Zelda was going to wake up.
The prince was a mess, to say the slightest. Disheveled and disorderly, the prince was to no longer be praised for his poise and tidy appearance. His chin was scattered with stubble, eyes sunken, and his collar crooked.
He was incredibly exhausted, not wasting a single moment on any more sleep than he felt he needed. Once he was up again, it was time to plan and mourn.
So while the prince, on a normal day, would have paid no mind to the young woman who had stopped him on his way out, his exhaustion made it hard to ignore whatever was going on in his surroundings. He lulled to a halt, icy eyes gazing over her carefully as he made note of it being the duchess to be--or well, would have been if her city wasn't under siege.
"M'lady," he managed to roughly exhale. She continued to speak though, thanking him for his duty. He blinked for a moment after a long pause, pursing lips before averting his gaze to register what she had said.
"Thank me?" he spoke, almost confused. "I don't save people to be thanked. I save them so they may continue and hopefully grow stronger."
He realized that may have come off too strong. He blinked a few times, before looking back at her sheepishly. "I mean--not that you aren't strong. I've seen what you've done for our men here at the medical camp. They really do value you as an asset to our cause."

OUR FATE WAS CHOSEN BY THE GODS
Artemis had lunged forward in an attempt to save Kura from the fall, only to realize that she was safe enough distance away to not get caught in the debris. He sighed in relief, but as he turned to face the upper stairwell, the Zoran servant was facing him now, a look of curiosity plastered to her face.
He narrowed his eyes, making note that her gaze had not left his, and perhaps she had not noticed his sister. He stiffened in place as he gripped the hilt of his sword carefully, frozen on the steps as he listened to her words.
"What kind of game are you playing at? Is this supposed to be some kind of test? I intend to leave with everyone who you've captured, so you best not get in my way."
He didn't know much of what this zora was capable of, but from what he had heard, she was Eleazar's chosen mage, and the ace of his guild. There was perhaps a chance that the two of them were equal in power, unless she had some sort of secret mask.
He took a deep breath and lowered his blade. "So what is it you plan to do now that I'm here?" he asked curiously.

"I did not say we would ignore them! However, if they choose to be difficult or slow us down, it could jeapordize all of us. The main priority is to escape with as many bodies as possible. Alive," he said before turning to her, eyeing her carefully. "Understood? Your situation was completely different. I will not risk losing you again."
He allowed her to inspect the building before making a decision, but as she made note of the top of the building he nodded. Each floor was large, and ultimately impossible to inspect every inch of in one night. They'd have to clear each room quickly, and hope that the prisoners would make noise when they approached.
"Then we start by going up."
The two of them made way for the spiraling stairwell that wrapped itself upwards within the tower. He was careful not to step anywhere that would cave in, and used his blade bathed in divine light as a source of sight. Slowly, he pulled a mask from his pocket.
"Take this. Wear it if enemies come forth. They will not see you unless you attack, so use every blow with precision and focus."
As they continued to climb the winding stairs, he peaked into each room to see if there was any source of life, but the rooms were mostly barren. He wondered what they would find here - monsters or treasures. Ancient scripts from the Royal Family's use of this building, perhaps?
He couldn't deny that the idea of these texts fascinated him, but this was no time to be lurking for archives. They continued their search.

Kura inquired on how they would find the prisoners, which truly, he didn't really know. He had hoped that there would be more of a grand introduction to this place, since the letter had explicitely welcomed them if they came to save the imprisoned.
Still, there was something fishy about this whole situation. He didn't want to think that it could possibly be a trap, but the aura of possibility continued to linger in the back of his mind. He made it first and foremost, his mission to keep Kura safe. Letting her back in the hands of the enemy would prove to be detrimental.
"I would assume we're expected. The letter indicates that we're given the opportunity to save the hostages inside. Perseus and Nyssa are our first priorities, understood? The others will hold us back, and if they choose not to cooporate we cannot risk staying behind for them."
He brushed his cloak beside her before sweeping forward to enter the tower's territory. Making way for the large, rusted doors, he took a deep breath before taking hold of one of the brass knockers. He slammed it in twice, before taking a step back.
There was a pause. He felt his stomach curl with anticipation as he thought about what may be waiting for them on the other side. Keep Kura safe. That is number one. He had to remind himself this.
As the doors swung open slowly with a roar of scraping metal, darkness escaped from the musty indoors. He waved the dust from the front of his face before peaking inside slowly.
It was completely empty, with a large set of stairs which wrapped both up and down the tower. There was a lower level. Of course there was.
"We need to pick which way to go. We're not splitting up."

OUR FATE WAS CHOSEN BY THE GODS
Artemis was a wreck of emotions, to say the least. It had been a while since he had been this distracted on one of his journeys, but with the looming fate of two of his sisters, and the death (and revival) of another, he didn't have a ready head for much. The guilt settled and festered when it came to these facts; his sisters were out there somewhere, possibly being tortured, but he couldn't be at arms to save either.
He had to trust Link and the Sheikah guards would do his job for him.
Originally he had opted to go and find Esme, but with Kura's insistance on rescuing Percy, he found he had no other choice but to accompany her. He refused to allow her to go alone.
The young prince was following behind his sister carefully, garbed in a green cloak with a sword in hand.
"What do you expect we will face in the tower?" Kura asked as they closed the distance with the ominous structure. He looked up and down it carefully before taking a deep breath.
"Pain," he murmured lightly. "This tower has a long and regretful history of merciless rulers, and this imprisonment was used as a base of experiment. King Arathor broke that mold, but his son, Galadhion... well, you know how he was."
The tower had been vacant for decades, but whatever was inside was surely still crawling with life. Possibly even prisoners still. He feared this would be too much for Kura after just waking.

Ah, so he was a sword for hire, it seemed. It was always better to work with an alias that way, and he understood the need for privacy when it came to their lives outside of that line of work. He chuckled at the names that he made up on the spot, and even recalled hearing names similar to that in the past...
Taking another bite into the fish, he listened to Raven's story and hwo he had strayed too far from the path and hadn't been home in quite some time. And then he was hit with the magic question - has there been anything of interest.
He almost choked on his food, and it suddenly became hard to chew as he tried to think of a good answer. Clearing his throat, he set down the food for a moment and scratched the back of his head.
"Wait, have you really been away from the kingdom for that long? Surely you would have heard about this in Labrynna or Holodrum though..." he could barely believe it. Could someone truly live in such a bubble from the outside world that they had no idea of the current events?
"My--The Royal family--they erm..." he stuttered for a moment, trying to say this in the best nonchalant way possible. "They were sort of overthrown by a madman from Labrynna. I... work under their troops in secret to help restore their power and bring honor back to Hyrule."
