You know me all too well
And I can't suppress the memories
You're gone and I can tell
That I've lost more than you'll ever see
The horses ran the field with haste. Perseus was ready to go toe to toe with the great King Eleazar--At least, that was the plan. His armies were stopped halfway to the castle upon the border of Hyrule Field by the Heroes of Hyrule.
"What is the meaning of this!?" Perseus had exclaimed, unsure of their motives. At first, he wondered if it was because of their ongoing plague, however that wasn't the case. The commander of the Heroes' army came down from his horse and approached. Perseus did the same.
"Perseus - you're going too far. With everything going on, you are putting your men in more danger than you realize!" Artemis - the ace of the Heroes of Hyrule responded.
The pause between them caused most of the men on both sides to grow silent.
"How are you not angry?" Perseus frowned."After what that monster did to Kura... your own sister."
"Percy--there's something we should show you--"
"Save it, Artemis. You may be in control while Zelda is missing, but I'm still a rank above you. Stand down and let me pass."
He motioned for his men to come forward, and the armies proceeded... however it wasn't long before Eleazar's army was in view. They halted.
She was told it had been weeks since the night she fell under, practically a month since she was placed in the preservation pod, and countless nights of doctors attempting to control whatever it was that ailed her and bring her back from the brink. In the end, it was only the light of her sister that could preform such a miracle. Two pairs of blue hues rested upon one another as Kura breathed out her sister's name; Zelda. Her brother's reaction was a tearful one, knowing how much he blamed himself for her demise, but that was of that past, and in the present she rested in her room back at the ruined castle.
After a few days she could eat, and walk again, the lingering effects of her stasis wearing off. In her mind she awaited the reunion of her and Perseus, wondering just how long it would be before a letter could reach him.
However her peace would not last for long. Word of her sister's kidnapping filled her ear's and she desired to do more than just lie in bed. Despite the lack of energy she had, Kura forced herself to be by her brother's side as he attempted to fill the empty hole Zelda left in her disappearance. Though, that was not the worst of it.
It started with a cough, and grew into something more. The medical tent filled with sick bodies, and at her brother's command she was tucked away from those that might be contagious. The thought of a sickness taking her again was on his mind, and she didn't blame him.
To make matter's even worse, word of her beloved's movements against Eleazar came to light, and she knew that she had to stop him. Even with an army at his back, the possibility of Perseus surviving Eleazar a second time were short.
Time was of the essence.
"I need you to keep him safe," she asked, pleading with her brother to take their own regiment. While it would be a futile attempt to subdue Eleazar's forces, she knew that Artemis could prevent his death in this suicide mission. Complying with her desire, her brother saddled and took a small force to attempt to stop the mad king, but once he was gone, she decided to follow suit, despite her brother's command that she stayed there.
"I can't just sit here and wait," she muttered, pulling up her hood and riding out of the forest.
It wasn't long before she entered the fields, the sounds of fighting echoing in the expansive area. She was able to discern from even there, that her brother's attempt to stop Percy failed. Kicking the mare under her, Kura rode farther in, trying to spy Artemis's command tent, where she knew her brother would be trying to organize their forces.
She had to find them, and while her heart told her that Perseus was in the field of battle, perhaps her brother would not be.
"I should have just gone myself," she said, knowing that if Percy had seen HER face instead of Artemis', than perhaps the battle could have been prevented.
The battle was quicker than expected - what he had hoped would be upon the doors of Castle Town was bordering his own country - too close to home. What more could he want from his kingdom? He already took siege of the largest shipping metropolis of Labrynna.
He scanned over the area, looking for blue hair in every direction he could, but none belonged to the false king. Was he even here?
"Sire! Look out!"
In a swift motion, the king stepped to the side, narrowly escaping the blade of a lackey. Drawing his sword, he clashed with the man, pushing his weight onto him and causing him to lose his balance.
Slice. Dead.
He took a deep breath, closing his eyes quickly and regaining his collection of the battle at hand. He scanned over the enemies once more as they charged full force at his men.
"If we die today, we died with honor," he murmured to his right hand. "Attack!"
Hundreds of men charged back at Eleazar's forces, swords at hand.
Meanwhile, Artemis and his men were preparing to engage as well. Once more, someone must have intercepted their letters and found where they would meet up. Someone in the heroes was treasonous.
That's all Artemis could think, anyways. As he fled from his tent, he searched the crowd for the King, making his way toward him as quickly as possible.
Pushing past the weighted leather, Kura entered the tent after finally making her way across the plains. Unsurprised to find her brother missing, she glanced over the depicted schematics on the table, understanding that if this portrayal was correct, --they were far outnumbered in size. The princess dashed from the tent, fear griping at her heart as she boarded her steed once more. Grabbing the reigns she gave the horse a kick, galloping into the fray.
Fire's sent smoke into the already clouded sky. A flash of lightning illuminating the battle field as she rode past countless bodies and fighting men. Rain began to dot the landscape, as if the heavens were crying at the scene below. They always speak of the glory of combat, neglecting to illustrate the gruesome scenes that really unfold in a war.
Images of Symmetry City erupted into her mind, tears building up in her eyes as she re-imagined her pain and confinement at the hand of Eleazar. She wouldn't leave Perseus or her brother to the same fate; though there was little she could actually do herself. Since castle town, she had been unable to call upon the curse that plagues her bloodline and her abilities with a rapier were far less than satisfactory, --but she would do what she could to stop the battle from taking her beloved.
Sounds of the battle grew louder, the vision of men fighting coming into clear view, and she attempted to shout out to those that could hear. A stray arrow found a mark however; buried into the heart of the beast under her, Kura was thrown from the saddle landing a few meters from where the horse stopped. The mud softened her landing somewhat, though pain still erupted from her shoulder and hip.
Forcing herself to stand, the princess limped forward, trying to perceive through the decorated battlefield. Bodies tangled and mangled, and others were already defeated at one's hand. One face came into recognition however, --his dark hair slick from the rain that battered their heads.
"Artemis!" she cried out while moving closer, pulling at the ornate blade from her hip to swiftly enter it into the back of an ambitious man who would attempt to strike her brother from the flank, "Where is he!?" she screamed, her voice pushing past the sounds of screaming and shouting all around.
Under the chill of the mist that spread over Hyrule field, Perseus fumbled to grab for the portable cannons. He attempts to search for the horses that pulled them, and yet with all the commotion, he is unable to. There are just too many people--the Heroes, his own men, and now Eleazar's.
"Artemis! Go home!" he groaned as the pale prince passed by him. But before he could continue his complaints, Artemis shot down two more enemies who were attempting to swing at the King.
He then turned around, seeing his dear sister before him. His eyes went small and his face ghostly. "What are you doing here?" he asked. "It's too dangerous! Don't you remember what happened last time?"
His sword clashed with another enemy from behind. Swinging the blade around, he managed to lose the enemy's grip of his own blade, causing it to fall on the floor. "LEAVE."
He turned back around as the lackey ran off into the distance. "Perseus is a lost cause, Kura. His mind is filled with revenge. Seeing you now could hinder his ability in battle."
Perhaps he was right, or maybe he was wrong. Perseus was ambitious in his cause, and that only made him stronger. Men screamed in pain clutching their grievous wounds as bows twang sending snakes of deaths into the never ending army. The sun beat down on them furiously as the heat wave continued unaffected at such chaos. Catapults and trebeuchets fired from both sides furiously trying to gain the advantage.

Of course she remembered what happened last time. Her foolishness had caused those she loved to endure through so much pain, and here she was, not taking into account that her actions could repeat that same mistake.
His body lurched and extended as he parried an advance, turning the blade from the man's grip and cutting him down right in front of her. He demanded she leave; his words twisting her stomach and making her nauseous. She had not thought that her presence here would serve as a distraction, but watching her brother attempt to defend and evade was proof enough. Despite that, her mind was already made up.
"I don't care!" she cried out, pushing back the hood from her head, "Artemis, you are outnumbered! If he is going to die here, --I want him to see my face one last time!"
It was one thing to think it, but another to say it outloud. Tears trailed down her cheek, her lips quivering at the notion that this might very well be the last time the three of them spoke to one another. Unless her brother had an idea about how to win the fight, the odds were looking grim.
Had they even spotted Eleazar on the field? Had they sent for reinforcements? Where was Asthar's men? This was a battle that was either poorly planned, or so properly planned that their strategy was met with equal force.
She refused to leave; --well, so much that she now couldn't leave. There were men surrounding them, some on their side and other's attempting to kill their way through. She couldn't properly escape the midst of the battle that she entered without due consideration. Pulling a bow and quiver off of a fallen comrade she hesitated near her brother's rear.

You know me all too well

It was strange seeing his sister met with so much passion for the King. He had only found out about their engagement just before her death, so it was still hard to familiarize with, especially since he was not necessarily one for romantic partners himself (or rather, he's too mean to even get a girl to like him).
He sighed, knowing that she was going to stubbornly stay by his side until they found him. "Last I saw him, he was this way. Unfortunately there was never a plan for this. Eleazar's forces came out of nowhere. I simply came here to try and prevent Perseus with his death wish, but Eleazar's forces met us just as we intercepted him. I believe we may have a spy in our faction--WATCH OUT!"
With haste, Artemis whirled himself in front of Kura, blade meeting blade as he met another enemy with a raging stare. "If you want to cut my sister so badly, allow me to return the favor," he snarled, punting his leg up into the man's torso to push him back. His blade then met his chest, and as he slid the body from the blade, he turned to his sister. "Stay alive. You know how to use your sword, yes? You're going to need it. Perseus is this way."
He began filing through the crowds of fighting men, keeping Kura close as he fended off any rogue attackers. The long, silver hair came into view in the distance as he made note of the King's location. He pointed. "We don't know where Eleazar is. I assume he's trying to find him."
Perseus was keeping the forces from overpowering his own men. Skilled with his blade, he twirled around as though he were dancing with the wind at his advantage. He began stepping back toward his men to make sure that they were not being overwhelmed.
"Steady with your aim, our archers will be deploying their first set of arrows soon. Keep a watchful eye!" he commanded to them before turning his head into the crowd.
He stopped.
In the thick of battle, a whisp of auburn hair caught his attention, and his eyes grew wide. He froze in place, as though time slowed, and the battle continued without him, and he had gone invisible. Was that Kura? It couldn't possibly be, she was dead! He saw with his own eyes!
"M'lady," he quivered. It's all he could say. It's all he could get out.

Recognition sparked in her eyes, knowing that if a spy was among them, they were likely behind the events that transpired at Symmetry City. It was an uneasy feeling, having knowledge of betrayal, but it was an emotion that couldn't be dealt with at the exact moment, --as they were in the middle of a life threatening battle.
She knew enough swordplay... at least what Artemis had instructed her earlier. She never picked up on the skill like her sisters, though she had the heart to keep trying in the results of her failure. Giving him a nod, she followed suit, watching carefully for any forward advances that she could parry and riposte.
Trailing his gesture, she glanced from Artemis's hand out to Perseus who was fighting valiantly in his vanguard. As though her heart was a drum, it beat to the sounds of swords clashing and bow strings strumming. Slowly, the entirety of the battle disappeared and she could only see him; He was even more handsome than the time in Lynna City.
Stepping closer, she neglected the dangerous scene around her, stopping just a few feet shy of the King who was in disbelief. His voice cracked, as if he was holding back a wave of sentiment that he couldn't put into words. The moment of hesitation was broken by the princess scrambling to her beloved, throwing her arms around his shoulders and holding him as if he was going to fly away.
"Perseus," she said softly, the scent of his hair comforting her, "You can't die yet. There is still so much we have to do, please don't leave me."
The promise they made that night had still yet to be fulfilled, and it was by their bonds that they lived by.

Before he could react, his beloved's arms were wrapped around him, holding him tightly as she softly spoke against his ear. He felt his body going weak, and he thought he might fall to his knees, but the scent of battle brought him back as he turned to look and make sure no one was heading straight for them.
He looked back at her, taking her words carefully before pursing his lips. They were clearly outnumbered, and he wouldn't let anymore of his men die. He nodded carefully, before throwing his hand into the air, sword skyward before whipping around so that Kura was facing his back.
"FALL BACK! HEAD BACK OVER THE BORDER!" he yelled loudly. Soon, his men repeated the same, defending themselves and moving closer to the Valley of the ridge.
He turned back to Kura, grabbing her hand before sprinting toward the horses. Once they reached them, he lifted her upon his steed and hopped on behind her, before riding west to the mountains."I don't want to wait another moment. Please marry me as soon as we reach the city gates."

He called for a retreat and her heart sank. Artemis had believed that Perseus would continue to fight no matter what, and that he was solely fixated on destroying his enemy that his mercy would be consumed by rage and hate. She smiled softly as he took her hand and began to run. Her eyes took in the sight of the battle behind her, hoping that her brother would be able to get away safely just the same.
It turned into an image she would never forget; the view of bodies scattered across the ground, and she vowed to put a stop to it all. Peace was an object that could never be permanently obtained, but she was determined to prevent anymore unnecessary death.
Atop the horse, with his weight at her back, she heard his sincere request and her face flushed. Kura hesitated; while she understood his intention, it was a selfish action with her sister missing and the plague ravaging the kingdom. After a deep breath she looked back at his battle worn face.
"I wouldn't have it any other way, let's not wait another moment," she said in a lighthearted tone, trying to mask her emotion towards the prior battle. Men lost their lives today, and all for what? They were ill-successful in their endeavor. Once again, Eleazar's forces were too strong for even the combined strength of Labrynna and the Heroes. If they were to defeat their opponent before Majora could step in, they would need King Asthar's assistance as well. -- But first, they had a spy to root out.
"Though, I hope I look fitting for the part of a bride," she said glancing down at the mud, and blood stained hem of her dress and cloak.

A KING OF FOOLS
They rode further from the scene, Perseus holding tightly onto his beloved as they made their way down the rocky path. "We will have something arranged for you when we arrive, my love," he had responded to her worries of what to wear.
Surely, they'd be married as soon as they could when they returned home, but perhaps they'd have time to ready themselves. He had assumed that Artemis would be following behind, perhaps leaving a message for their family, at least their youngest sister Esme, to allow for her to come as well.
It was all up to Kura - if she would have him the moment they returned, he'd do so. But if she wanted a proper celebration, she would not leave his sight until they were married.
~
Once arrived to Labrynna, Perseus situated his horse at the stables and helped Kura bring herself to the ground. Guiding her to the castle, he pushed aside those who began to ask questions - how she was alive, if this was real, and what was going on and to why he was back so soon.
"There's no time to explain, but please make preparations for the Royal Wedding. It must be done immediately," he demanded. He turned to his bride quickly, hands cupping her cheeks carefully. "Do you want to be married as soon as they finish, or do you want to allow time for your family to arrive?"

It was surreal. Ever since she was a little girl, she imagined herself standing next to him, --and much like she made a magical wish, she was to be his wife. After waiting for so long, she was finally going to have the happiness she sought.\
During the trip back home, she couldn't stop her mind from racing, or hinder the excitement from knotting in her stomach; it only grew stronger once they had stepped foot in Lynna city. Onlookers and those close to the King questioned her arrival, as words of her demise had traveled here weeks prior. It was justified, however Perseus only brushed them aside, determination not pulling him away from his focused goal.
Kura hesitated on his question. Her heart wanted it to be preformed immediately, but she felt a pain of guilt thinking about her family, and how much an act like this would upset them; and then she thought about the absence of her father.
"I would like to at least wait until Artemis arrives, --hopefully with my sister in tow... I am going to ask him to give me away," she responded, hoping that her answer would not disappoint him to much. "I also feel like there is.. things we need to talk about," she continued, knowing how he might possibly be confused about her survival, and that he may be using the wedding to serve as a distraction from reality.
Stepping in close to him, Kura wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her head on his chest. Listening to his heart beat, she hoped to calm the raw emotion he felt. He didn't want to lose her again, and that was a sentiment she understood by comparison. The war with darkness was certainly taking it's toll against them.
