She hated sand, so much. Nothing about it was pleasant, if was coarse and getting everywhere. But Sekne had a goal in mind that surpassed her own needs, a duty to her people and queen.Still, these conditions in the Light Realm were less than ideal, and she found herself having to walk with the wind, a cloth covering her mouth to keep the sand out of it. She had walked through a part of the afternoon, all of the evening, and now the moon overlooked her trek into the desert, high in the sky. It was her only companion.
I need to find them... I heard they were this way.
Sighing as she came across another dune she had to cross, she shakily uncorked her waterskin, moving the cloth briefly to press the leather to her lips. To her dismay, however, only a small trickle of water came out. She was out of water. Cursing under her breath, she let it drop, hanging from its strap, taking a deep breath, and began the ascent, legs, arms and chest burning from the exertion.
It has to be soon... I must be close...
It was no sooner than when she reached the top that her legs decided to give out, and she pitched forward, hardly able to react before hitting sand. And she began to roll, tucking her arms into her head as best she could. She cried out weakly in pain the few times she bounced, landing hard on the sand, until finally she came to a stop at the bottom of the dune, on her back. She turned her head to the side, coughing and spitting up sand, and in the distance, saw the flickering of some sort of light. But everything was blurry, and her head felt heavy. She went to cry out for help, but only coughed again, a hand weakly reaching out for help before it fell. She felt her eyes drooping, heavy, and there was only one thought in her mind.
It had been an average day, in what could be considered an average day for Midna. Trapped in the Realm of Light as she was, gathered hidden in the wind and sand in what once was a prison for Hyrule's worst and what once housed the Mirror of Twilight. Here was what little she had amassed of a resistance and where she spent most of her time since leaving the Heroes' side for the time being.
She'd been focused on research about artifacts of power, specifically those of shadow magic controlled by the Sheikah and her people. Something that would allow her to gain even a modicum more power to use in this realm and against the usurper's that held her kingdom in their fists.
The moon is rising high in the sky, and despite having been awake and working, she was not tired, invigorated by the cool desert wind at night. Midna strolls the area of Arbiter's Grounds idly when two sentries find her and inform her that they've found an unconscious Twili girl in the sands not far from the camp, a refugee come to join her side, they suspect. With a pleasantly surprised expression, Midna nods at them and commands them to take her to the girl, who've they brought to their makeshift medic tent.
When Midna walks in she can see the young woman on a bed, dust and sand cover her clothing and she's unconscious, the medic trying to coax her back to consciousness to give her water. She's surprised at how young she seems, and takes a seat on the side of the bed, wondering after the mysterious Twili girl who made it so far. She was no healer, and could only sit by and wait.
Ash she came to, her coughs were dry and painful, and she convulsed with every involuntary hack, eyes opening. It was still dark, she was having trouble adjusting to the area around her, but she knew there was people. And then water, sudden and shocking, coaxing another fit of coughs from her, most of it ending up on the bed and her chest, and then her eyes adjusted.
"Where... Am I..."
People, and specifically Twili, around her, tending to her. One holding a waterskin that she weakly reached up for, grabbing. Cool water cascaded down her throat, as she gulped greedily, before dropping it and falling back onto her bed. She felt like she'd been dragged through a wringer, every muscle sore, but the bed was comfortable to lie in, at least. But she had a mission, she had to find her people, her queen-
And then she looked to her side, eyes taking a moment to focus before going wide at seeing Midna sitting at her bedside. Her queen. She would jolt, but she lacked the energy, and so instead just babbled like an idiot before speaking.
The Twili girl was not a surprise, not now when so many of her kind were seeking refuge in this desert. But she was so young, and the queen instructed the healer to take good care of her and briefly moved herself from her bedside seat to speak with the sentries about how they found the girl. Midna was not the paranoid sort, but she had been burned and it was better to be careful nowadays. She posts the sentries at the entrance to the tent, and the moment she hears the girl coughing awake she's returning to her seat beside the cot.
"Indeed you did, my sentries found you in the desert but you are currently safely within my camp." she explains to the young woman, voice soft and she instructs the healer to get more water just in case. "What is your name, dear?" she asks.
