"I have no intention of clipping your wings, in fact, my proposal is much more open than you may think it is. Information gathering is best done away from home, and if I am not mistaken, you are well traveled. I think this could be a situation that benefits both of us."
Of course it was unorthodox to ask someone you had just met to do such a task. But Tiaris was an unorthodox individual, and she knew the risks ahead of time. She sighed, and took the letter back, putting the letter in a pocket, and crossed her arms.
"I'd not ask one to prioritize my needs over their own, or their people's, but I've a vested interest in furthering relations with the Gerudo. And you seemed charming, admittedly, so I figured an invite to my hall would be welcome. Perhaps I was mistaken? And if so, what can I do for you to east any anxieties you may have?"
Interesting how eager she was to please her Matriarch, and yet she still felt she had something to prove. Tiaris took a pensive sip of her tea while she contemplated Sable's response, before setting the cup down to fold her hands in her lap, focused once again on the other Rito.
"My intention was for your employ to begin immediately, but I see there's more to you than meets the eye, if you are still so eager for an interview. Were I a more simple minded person, I would take this as flirtations, but I can see in your eyes your devotion to the Rito. Understand the time tables I must work on, though, with rebuilding from war comes limits, many meetings. I would suggest if you have something to demonstrate, it can happen in the now."
With this, she resumed sipping her tea, taking another moment of thought, before chuckling to herself and looking back to Sable.
"Unless, of course, what you seek is a nighttime activity. Perhaps you were propositioning me after all."
She knew the look of devotion when she saw it, the eyes of her newest project locked on her firmly the whole time they spoke. She hadn't expected somebody so open to the idea, but utter loyalty made this easier. That, and the fact that whereas she was looked at with admiration, there was something more to that look, and she found herself raising an eyebrow, before breaking eye contact to accept her tea cup, holding it to let it cool.
"Your current purpose is small, yet admirable, but I've a greater task for you. A promotion, of sorts, should you be willing. As much of my council joined in the battles, and many fell, I am looking to patch the holes put in it by this war - as well as by my ancestors. I need minds alike mine, people who will work with my goals to work towards prosperity of the Rito. And that means knowing thy enemy, so to speak."
"I hear your passion is school was studying other cultures, and it's that pursuit of knowledge I need. I need a strategist just in case, somebody who knows who we may face someday. Your tasks would be to determine the best way for us to mobilize and where to use diplomacy, as well as act as my personal bookkeeper and attendant."
She paused to take a small sip of her tea, once again making eye contact, staring into those eyes that swam with admiration. She had her hooked, that much was apparent, but she admittedly was intrigued at taking things a step further, just to be sure.
"I can assure you, that look in your eyes inspires confidence that you could attend to me just fine. Take some time to think it over, and then we can discuss the details of your... Employment."

"I expect quite the show.."
"I know what you expect me to ask of you, and I can assure you, those cards are still on the table. I do have my desires, but those of my people come first. And seeing how you caught the eye and captivated, I have a special task I would ask of you, should you find a mutual agreement beneficial."
There was the subtle sensation of a tension that wanted to be broken, but business was painted over Tiaris' face. She turned to the table next to her throne, from a drawer pulled a letter, sealed with wax. As she turned, she held it up for Farrah to see.
"Your set of skills are effective in drawing an eye where you want it, and distracting them from where you don't want them. In short, I am asking you to gather information for me, pertaining to the individuals described in this letter. All I seek is their whereabouts, and then we can discuss further employment from there. The price I am willing to personally pay is a bounty of gold, jewels, what you wish. But..."
She paused, walking up to the Gerudo, and held out the letter, with a smirk on her face.
"The greatest honor I could offer is my companionship, and I know a wandering eye when I see one. What say you?"
"My apologies if my invitation was unexpected and forward, but your performance tonight was a spectacle my people rarely get to behold. I do believe it is Farrah, is it not? My reason for calling you here is twofold."
All eyes were on the matriarch, trying to get a read on her as she sat upon her throne, chin resting on her hand. She was all eyes for the Gerudo dancer, and was grateful Ati wasn't there, because she would be heckled for sure by her little loose cannon. Not that she didn't enjoy it, but she had her eyes on the prize. The room was silent as she contemplated the situation, her council watching quietly, trying to puzzle out what was going on inside her head.
"My people reveled in your performance, a boost to our morale we've not seen in quite some time. Seeing them so pleased with your dancing moved me to bring you forth to ask a request: I am willing to pay you, and any entourage you see fit, to come upon request to the City in the Sky, to perform for events and ceremonies where we might need the feeling of... Fun we felt. But, for you specifically..."
She stood up, setting her glass down, and clicked her heel twice against the floor. Her entourage stood, sharing knowing glances, and bowed to the dancer before shuffling out. She intended for this to be a private conversation.
"You personally caught my eye. I know someone special when I see them, and it's that gut feeling I'm following to work on something greater. You're not just a mere dancer, are you? If my hunch is right, I'd ask if you would be interested in a more..."
A glance, scanning from Farrah's shoulders to her feet, and back up to meet eye contact with her.
It had started as a simple visit to the City in the Sky, a show to raise relations between the Gerudo and the Rito. The performance was met with a positive reaction, many of the Rito joining in with the dancing, laughing and in high spirits. The bonfire that burned in the middle of the circle everyone sat in flickered and cast shadows over the Gerudo troupe, dancing to the beat of the music the Rito musicians provided. And, in the crowd, her hand holding a goblet of carved wood, was the matriarch, her gaze level, her eyes on the women. She was looking for something, and she found her eyes lingering most on one dancer in particular.
It was a surprise, then, for Farrah, that she was met with a messenger for the matriarch after the festivities had ended, the bonfire now smouldering. He told her that her presence, though not requested, would be appreciated to entertain the matriarch that night, as she had caught the eye of Tiaris. There was a down payment of gold if she were to accept.
In her hall, Tiaris sat at her throne, in idle chatter with the sparse members of her inner circle, but they all knew why they were really there. A front of professionalism, a plan to speak to the girl, one on one. What she wanted was unknown, but she had hoped the intruige of being requested specifically would catch the dancer's attention.
"I find sometimes I care too much for my own good."
She couldn't say what she expected out of this Rito she was told of, but when the door opened, and she was met with the surprised girl in front of her, she couldn't help but smile. She looked like she fit right in on the farmstead, fair and smiling at her matriarch, inviting her in for tea. The whistling of the kettle was appealing to her, and she nodded.
"The offer is greatly appreciated. Sable, if I'm not mistaken? I was hoping to speak to you about something I'm working on, I take it that it's fine if I come in and relax?"
She took the chance to let herself into the office, seeing two seats she could plant herself in, and took the chance to get comfortable, glancing around the office. It was well kept together, organized, cozy yet welcoming. It told much of what kind of person Sable was, and she knew she'd picked right. Looking to the other woman, she gestured for her to sit, with a nod.
"I'm afraid I don't have the time I wish I did, so please, sit. I've come looking for somebody to assist me in a task, and through some sources I hear you are knowledgable in something may benefit me, and our people as a whole. I also can see you're eager to please, which is admirable. Let's talk."
"I find sometimes I care too much for my own good."
It was time for a change of pace among her people. War had been won, but the price was steep - steeper than Tiaris had anticipated. Many Rito had to be laid to rest, and more were put out of commission thanks to the Goddess' army. Many of her inner circle were either six feet under, or too traumatized by the horrors they witnessed to return to their positions in good conscience.
She had to make a move. And it was time to consider her assets still left over.
Intel was slow to gather, but a promising lead had presented itself to her today. One of the ties she made was to the Rito teachers, looking for the promising youth to fill positions held for years. A greater change than her ancestors could have made, for sure. The girl she was off to meet had promise for her plans in the future, a knowledge of other cultures that was above average. And yet, she worked on a simple farm, lived a quiet life.
That was all to change.
The grass underneath foot blew to the side as she landed, along with her guard, and silver magic surrounded her as she shed her ancestral form, the sheen of the veil dissipating as she stepped forward, observing the farmstead for a moment. Humble was a good way to describe it, and humility was something she was looking for.
But there was still judgment to be made, and a proposal to be offered. She motioned for her guards to follow, and walked to the door of the building she expected to find the accountant. Three sharp knocks, and then she backed from the door, her guard posting on either side of the door, bows leaned against it at their sides. She crossed her arms, waiting.

You may not be of my flock
but a hero's job is not limited to one's people
The reports of kidnappings had the entirety of Hyrule on high alert, cautious of whether any of their people would be taken. Tiaris had scouts and guards out on duty day and night, eyes out on the domain and around Hyrule.
Though none of her people were taken, an envoy from Labrynna had arrived at the steps of her domain, bearing a request for help. They were unable to send out their own troops, but a member of their society had been part of the kidnappings, and they requested somebody be sent out. Members of her guard volunteered, including Ati, but it was Tiaris who volunteered. The reports seemed to lead to the Zora Domain, and it was there that she took off, alone.
It was in the cover of night that she landed in the Domain, near where the reports led her to. It seemed to be a cave on the far side of the lake's shore, the Domain in the distance. She shifted back into her normal shape and put a hand on her blade's grip, looking into the dark of the cave. As she did, she felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up, and looked behind her, but saw nothing but shadow.
"Must just be on edge... But back to the task at hand.
"I find sometimes I care too much for my own good."
"You speak truths, archer. No one should be expected to go through life without aid, young one. Just because a hand is extended doesn't mean that I doubt your capabilities."
She gave her sibling another gentle pat on the head, then twirled her bow, feeling the whimsical flicker of her ancestral magic flow through her. There wasn't any distinct shift, but her change was immediate almost as if she changed forms within a blink. There was a twinkle in that hawk eye of hers, a competitive streak a league long.
"Moving targets certainly make it interesting, but let's see your flight accuracy. And if you truly don't need our help as you say you don't, Visari, perhaps you would like to throw yourself in? I find that when I work with other Rito, they teach me almost as much as I teach them, so consider this a lesson for both of us, dearest."
With that, she walked to a nearby basket, pulling from it a bundle of metal rings, several inches wide. She twirled one around a feather, and even in her beaked form they could see a smirk on her face.
"We could use these to train accuracy, and show off if you two would like. I'm open to other ideas if you have them, though."
Rito were always taught that a single bird couldn't take down a lion, but a flock of birds can. Trust in one's comrades was the key to success.
And it was high time that Tiaris remembered those lessons.
With a grimace, she rolled her hurt shoulder, gauging the extent of the pain. It stung, but was usable. She would definitely need it patched up when she returned to the City in the Sky, and would have to make sure she didn't injure it further.
But that was no matter. Her bow was stored away, locked in place on the small of her back, and she reached for something else instead, calling out as she did.
"Bantha, Vitani, on me! Ati, follow behind me. Zora, do what you can when we get close."
Before the priestess could register her words, the gusts under her feet faded, and instead she caught a tailwind, rocketing towards the priestess, a projectile from the humans. There was molten rock between her and the divine woman, but she had a secret weapon.
Once on top speed, she spread her wings, wincing as her shoulder tugged, but as she did, she hurled something forward, a boomerang stylized as a pair of wings, and it pulled her gale with her. She still flew forward as fast as she did before thanks to momentum, but all her wind magic was focused on the Gale Boomerang she threw forward at the magma shield.
"Come in close!"
She grit her teeth as the Boomerang got closer and closer to the wall of molten rock, knowing she had to do this at just the right time, and seconds before impact, let the magic around the weapon go wild, the wind bursting from around it, howling, in all directions. The force in which the tornado around it was like a second-long hurricane, but that was all she needed.
As the winds scattered the magma shield around the blast zone, the Gale Boomerang flew through, its magic still locked onto its intended target: Hestair. And as it came towards her, Tiaris banked to the right, gesturing to the others.
"Ati, up! Vitani, left! Bantha, on me!"
Steel slid against steel as her sword was drawn in her good hand, and her gale returned to her, catching her as a tailwind, corkscrewing her around to be behind the priestess. Her boomerang, regardless of contact or not, returned to her, but she neglected to throw it again, instead feeling that wispy breeze at her feet, and she pushed upwards, a typhoon bringing her upwards, inside the priestess' shield. She would take a swing at Hestair as she ascended, wincing as her bad wing was briefly her only support.
Then, she ascended, watching to see what the other Rito would do
I swear her magic isn't just a Revali's gale ripoff
The sky weeped stone, and for once i felt fear, but exhilaration came too
All began as planned. The Rito had managed to blindside the being manipulating the fire, but it was never going to be as simple by winning on a simple advantage such as that. Her eyes were locked on the priestess as she acted, defending accordingly, and suddenly Tiaris' vision was obstructed by rocks hurled in her direction. She outstretched her wings, feeling the warm air from the lava catch under them, and with a flap of her wings, she pushed skyward, over the projectiles. What she didn't expect, however, was to see the priestess grab Vitani and hurl the Rito in her direction.
The allure of wind once again took her, and she willed her own gust to leave her, instead stopping Vitani, a breeze that righted her erratic flight. However, her focus was so much on saving her comrade that she didn't notice the volcano's fury falling upon her until the last second. In the seconds before a rock came barrelling down on her, she called back her wind, trying to push her clear of the rock, but the sharp pain in her shoulder brought stars to her eyes. She let out a cry, eyes clenching, and all would see her shift from her ancestral form.
And then, she fell, plummeting from the sky. As she felt herself being pulle ddown, she panicked, the feeling all too familiar. She tried to focus on her magic returning to her, but every wave of pain that coursed through her cut her attention off. She was going to die if she hit the ground, she knew that. Gritting her teeth, she tried once again.
A heartbeat, and a memory. A memory of flying.
No pain is too great. I have already felt it all.
A flash of magic lit what seemed to be the impact point where she landed, and wind burst forth, the flow of magma hardening in its area. When the steam dissipated, Tiaris stood, hovering on a tempest of her own, feet just touching ground. She was still in her original form, and as she glared at the witch, she reached to her right shoulder, pushing it back into place where it was clearly out. There was a loud pop, and a wince from her, but she flexed her hand, able to move it.
Good. If it could move, it could fire a bow. A flick of the button on the holster, and the bow dropped into her grasp. A finger hooked in the loop holding her quiver shut, and she looked around, making a game plan.
Boulders scattered the lava-strewn battlefield. That could be her advantage there. Without hesitation, she jumped upon one with assistance from her wind, moving from boulder to boulder with great leaps, until she was close enough to the priestess, and fired three arrows, breaths apart, one arching high, the other two directly at her adversary. Knowing she couldn't do much more, she turned to jump away, creating a corkscrewing vortex as her ancestral magic triggered again, changing her form. She caught it, rising, but winced when she tried to flap higher. Her wing needed time to heal, so she was left to gliding away towards her allies, hovering near them.
"Our enemy plays in three dimensions as well. I shall ensure the winds favor you, it's your job to pick her apart. Go!"

"I find sometimes I care too much for my own good."
"Still, a valiant try, don't you think?"
The Matriarch was slowly walking up to the two, holding a cup in one hand as she did, steam rising gently from it. She nodded to Bantha, before stopping behind her brother. A soft smile came onto her face, and she ruffled his hair lightly, before holding the cup out.
"Ati told me you were out here. I made your favorite, and I thought that having some tea would help you focus on your reading. I didn't expect to see you pick up a weapon."
When the cup was out of her hands, she stood straight, eyeing his shot, before her eyes moved to the other archer. Her tone was more professional than it was with her brother, but Bantha could hear a tinge of gratitude in it.
"It warms my heart to see those more experienced teaching the young our ways, Bantha. I watched your lesson briefly, and the fact that Teck seemed excited to continue gives me confidence. Perhaps we have time for one more lesson, just the three of us? Regardless of what life he may have lived before, the bow is the way of the Rito."
With a simple unbuttoning, the leather holding her bow on her hip opened, and she caught her bow, already strung. When she made eye contact with Bantha, there was a look in her eyes, almost as if she were studying the other Rito.
As the lava began to spew forth from the ground, there was a change in the atmosphere in the area, subtle but noticeable, and clearly not natural. It blew against the wind's original direction, towards the Priestess, and through the cloud cover, something breached, a streak of royal blue and white. She would see the figure tuck in what seemed to be a hybrid of wings and arms, and dive towards her.
If she hadn't have been in her ancestral form, Tiaris would be snarling at the offender, watching her rend the earth at will. The Goddess' command? As much as she didn't want to believe it, the sight before her proved as much. No mere mortal could wield this magic without divine intervention.
So Din has forsaken us completely. You have gifted me with life, o Goddess, but I won't let you take that away from me.
She stopped her descent, angling her wings in such a way that she was able to hover on her personal gale of wind, and looked back. Her tailwind was starting to taper off, but as it did, more Rito followed her, and she let out a chuckle, before turning in midair to face her adversary.
"Valiant Rito warriors! What we fight is not of this world, but one higher than ours! But do not be deterred, we are not a people to be trodden on! The enemy may have lava, but we have the benefit of the skies! Use the rising heat to fly as you need. Advance!"
She drew her blade, metal sliding from its sheath, and took it in both feathered hands, sighing, before making eye contact with the Priestess.
"When I'm finished with you, and you see Din once again, tell her who sent you, if you keep your head."
